Redskins released TE Chris Cooley.
Coach Mike Shanahan suggested Cooley requested his release because the nine-year veteran wants a starting job. It’s likely a moot point, however. Due nearly $4 million as a backup tight end/fullback, Cooley was squarely on the roster bubble heading into cut-down weekend. A major injury question mark coming off a season ruined by knee problems, Cooley is unlikely to accrue reliable fantasy value no matter where he lands.

Cooley would be a nice add to the passing offense. He has always been under rated IMO…

Barksdale and Bergstrom are both better than Campbell and have higher upsides. To get anything of value for Campbell was a bonus. I consider the Goodson trade a win for the new regime.

Packers, Steelers, Lions, someone like that might take a flyer.

Having been released, he will sign at the vet minimum or close to it.

From a business stand point, would be wise to wait until after week 1 to sign him?

His contract would not be gauranteed.

Special Teams coach Hoffman has been doing a bad job so far.

Should have kept Bones Fassel around as special teams coach.

The special teams played well last year. It didn’t need to be fixed.

I will give the special teams a break for now as many of them are just camp bodies that won’t be around once the season starts. Once I start seeing the 2nd team LB’s and DB’s covering kicks, then I will judge. Special teams should be fun to watch in this last game as it will be the only way the bubble players will make this team. Bodies should be flying around the field trying to make an impression.

So it looks like good ol PD81 mite be going on the P.U.P list….. Fell in the shower and proceeded to fall out of the shower at the same time busted my knee and broke my toilet… What a way to start the day.
