Six key players missing practice

The new-look Raiders practiced in Alameda on Monday for the first time since breaking camp in Napa. They did so without the 12 players released earlier this morning, as well as the six key players that are injured.
As the media-access window expired — 30 minutes at the start of practice — defensive tackle Richard Seymour, center Stefen Wisniewski, tight end Richard Gordon, wide receivers Jacoby Ford and Denarius Moore and linebacker Aaron Curry emerged from the locker room and walked toward the far end of the fields, where their teammates are going through their paces.
On the bright side, Ford was walking without the protective boot on the left foot he sprained against the Arizona Cardinals on Aug. 24.
Coach Dennis Allen said Sunday that he is hopeful that he will have Moore and Wisniewski for the regular-season opener Sept. 10. It remains to be seen whether Ford can recover in time for that game.
Seymour (knee) and Gordon (ribs) are expected to be ready in time for the game against the San Diego Chargers.
As for Curry, he remains on the physically unable to perform list. It seems logical that he will be left on the PUP list, which means he would be forced to miss at least the first six weeks.
Kicker Sebastian Janikowski was spotted doing some light jogging early in practice. In a perfect world, that’s what he would have done while attempting to chase down kick returner Justin Miller in the game against the Detroit Lions on Saturday night.
Janikowski suffered a groin injury on the play and missed the rest of the game.
Backup quarterback Matt Leinart was going through drills today, so he appears good to go Thursday night against the Seattle Seahawks.
Given the Raiders waived quarterback Kyle Newhall-Caballero, it’s likely that Carson Palmer, Leinart and Terrelle Pryor will play some against the Seahawks.
The Raiders will practice for another hour or so. After that, we will speak with Allen and Palmer, as well as the rest of the players.

Baltimore has a badass organization from top to bottom. Year after year, they draft well and bring in the right free agents. And instead of jumping on the bandwagon and getiing rid of Ray Lewis, they were 100% supportive. Turned out to be the best decision an organization has made in the last 20 years. I hope Reggie was taking notes from afar.

I don’t really see much of a difference in the way the game is played now, just the way it is officiated.

Players don’t seem to be really adapting to the changes, they just play on and if they call it, they call it.

    —————–

Get on YouTube and go watch the hits guys like Phil Simms used to have to endure.

Joe Theismann is a prime example of a VERY good QB that could not survive because the defenders back then were coming hard and hitting long after the ball was thrown.

Seriously, go watch some of the old highlights. QB’s took a beating.

Randy Moss is a top 10 guy all-time. I have him at 5th on my list. So its not like Im dogging the guy. But he may not have even been the best of his era. Marvin Harrison and more realistically, Terrel Owens both can make very strong claims to being the best of their era. That could concievably drop Moss down a bit on some peoples scales.

I got a very cool TO story from when he was with the Eagles I doubt many have you know about. It’s only known in NFL circles. I’ll type it up and post it in a few minutes.

No one really talks about it besides Pats fans, but ask them about Moss at the end of the Super Bowl loss against the Giants.

Brady stepped up in the pocket with around 25 seconds left, rifled one about 65 yards down the field before he got decleated, and put it right on the money to Moss between two defenders.

He barely made an effort to catch it, and didn’t.
