Report: Raiders sign young cornerback

The Raiders claimed cornerback Coye Francies off waivers, less than a day after he was waived by the Seattle Seahawks. Francies is listed as being a member of the Raiders on NFL.com, though the Raiders have yet to announce the transaction.
Francies, 25, appeared in eight games for the Cleveland Browns in 2009 and 2010. He finished the 2011 season on the Seahawks practice squad. The Seahawks waived Francies as part of their getting down to the league-mandated 75 players Monday.
Francies, 6-foot and 185 pounds, played at San Jose State. He is expected to compete for a backup spot and playing time on special teams.
He doesn’t have long to make a favorable impression. The Raiders are off Wednesday and play the Seahawks in their exhibition finale Thursday night.
Final roster cuts are Friday.

Another critique of Leinart was he was immature coming into the league and didn’t take his job seriously. He even admitted he didn’t dedicate himself enough.Supposedly the last couple of years he has seen the light and realized he has to work to be good in this league. How can people judge him on things he did 3/4 years ago yet in the same breath say Pryor will change in 3/4 years? It is called maturing.
    ==============
    You are right.
He did cop to the fact he enjoyed partying.
Unfortunately him maturing hasn’t shown up in his play.
Well, except for a few solid plays in preseason, which, by your own words, don’t mean a single dang thing.

I may have been taking a shot at our ineptitude at the TE position more than praising Myers there. Point being, he has made plays andd deserves to at least be given the chance to start.

    think about it:

Vikings’ fans felt the same about athletic QB Joe Webb.
Dolphins’ fans felt the SAME about athletic QB Pat White.
Steelers’ fans felt the SAME about athletic QB Dennis Dixon.

Watch for those 3 names you just mentioned. They will undoubtedly emerge in a lengthy post later on from someone who will extol each of their many virtues and how each of them either didn’t get a fair shot or how they have proven without a doubt that they deserve to be starting right now in the NFL.

All the teams? He was released from Arizona for his work ethic and character at the time. He wasn’t released from Houston at all, his contract expired, and he followed Knapp here, as Houston is set with Schaub and very happy with Yates who won a playoff game for them. Before you start calling people idiots at least site facts. Leinart didn’t ‘bomb’ in Houston. He was injured, you do realize that happens in a contact sport right.

Miller and Boss were jettisoned for monetary reasons, not because Brandon Meyers is better than they are.

I agree he deserves to start… over Ausberry and Gordon. That doesn’t make him anything special. He is one-eyed man in the kingdom of the blind if you ask me.

Quickly on the subject of Leinert, lst coming in, his passes looked like balloons out there. I was really shocked at his lack of arm strength. But that is something he worked very hard at training with MMA guys and others, and it certainly shows. There is nothing wrong with his decision making or accuracy like Bronco Billy posted.

True BCZ,but no real effort was made to keep either one so the powers that be must have felt Myers was able to step in and take their place.Miller was offered a take it or leave it deal and Boss wasn’t even offered the chance to redo his contract. As I said getting an upgrade would be nice, but the position isn’t a huge concern.

BTW,BCZ,I believe Myers is a better all around TE than either Miller or Boss-at least at this point in time. They were better receivers but Myers is a far superior blocker than either one of them.Actually if Gordon proves he can catch consistently it wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t unseat Myers at some point.Or if Ausberry suddenly becomes a decent blocker,he could also.

With Leinart’s injury being to his non throwing hand, shouldn’t he be able to play anyway?

Is it just an issue with getting the snap cleanly?; or holding on to the ball if gets hit?

It was described as a “lacerated” finger, which is a step up from a “cut” finger.

You think of all these injuries to Leinart and I think of Brett Favre and how he basically started every damn game for 16 yrs.

    ***********
Miller was not offered a take it or leave it deal, he wasn’t offered anything, we couldn’t match the offer Seattle made, and clearly we weren’t ok with Meyers as our starter because we signed Boss to replace Miller. Boss spent the better portion of last year injured, and under utilized, so we got rid of his $4 mill cap # and the whole plan was to see what Ausberry and Gordon could contribute. They were the intended starters, with Meyers playing the veteran depth… neither could seize the position Meyers is starting by default.
