Raiders release statement on slain CHP officer

Friday, September 7th, 2012 at 1:00 pm in Oakland Raiders.
The Raiders released the following statement on the recent killing of California Highway Patrol officer Kenyon Youngstrom:
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Youngstrom’s family and the entire California Highway Patrol. We are tremendously saddened by the tragic loss of a contributor to our community.”
Youngstrom, 37, a seven-year veteran of the California Highway Patrol and a married father of four who lived in Fairfield, worked for the Oakland Football Marketing Association prior to going into law enforcement.
Youngstrom was shot by a 36-year-old male on Tuesday a short time after Youngstrom pulled over the motorist on I-680. He died Thursday night. One of Youngstrom’s colleagues shot the motorist, who died later that day.

Replacement refs will be the story of this weekend’s games come Monday. Goodell already said that the refs that worked Wednesday’s game were the best of the bunch. With that thinking, Sunday night and Monday night refs should be squads 2 through 4 (prime time games with no other concurrent games equal the biggest audience). That makes the weekend’s games subject to the remaining refs. Look for at least one or two games to decided by blatant calls/non-calls. And I mean worse than the regular bad calls/non-calls. Not doomsday but numerous coaches will have burned through their challanges by halftime and won’t have the opportunity to correct obvious errors. Just my opinion.
