Wide receiver Jacoby Ford will have foot surgery in North Carolina and be out a “signficant’’ amount of time, Raiders coach Dennis Allen said Tuesday.
Ford was with the team Saturday but did not attend the Raiders’ season-opening 22-14 loss to the San Diego Chargers.
The Raiders will be looking for wide receivers but won’t necessarily sign one immediately.
“We’ve got five receivers right now and Reggie and I will look down and see where we’re at,’’ Allen said.
Ford missed six the last seven games a year ago with a foot injury which was re-injured Aug. 17 in the second preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals.
The Raiders hoped rest would improve the condition, but Allen said a foot specialist and the club staff determined “surgery was the best option for him.’’
Allen was hopeful wide receiver Denarius Moore, out since Aug. 4 with a hamstring strain but inactive against San Diego, would be ready to play Sunday against Miami.
