Wrong. The most important job on D is shutting down the run. Who cares how great your pass rush is if teams can run for 5 yards a clip all game? You’ve got to shut down the run, THEN you can worry about rushing the passer. And Wheeler’s a significant upgrade to our D. Take a look at the results: 10 points given up legitimately (the other FGs I don’t count because the Chargers started their drives already in field goal range).

Nobody had less rushing yards than the Giants last year. Green Bay was 24th the year before. In 2009, The Saints had a top 10 attack that was fueled by their passing attack which was higher. The Steelers were 23rd in rushing yards in 2008. You still think it’s the most important thing on defense is to stop the run in today’s NFL?

Laying the ball on it’s side and trying to bounce it off the hand’s team front line blockers was an interesting idea. Would have been really cool if it would have worked.
