Down 2 more players, Raiders watch film together
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Monday, September 17th, 2012 at 8:44 pm in Oakland Raiders.
The aftermath of a 35-13 road loss to the Miami Dolphins included news of the possible loss of two more starters and a team film session that served as a lesson in accountability.
Cornerback Shawntae Spencer and right tackle Khalif Barnes could be out of the upcoming Pittsburgh game and beyond, Spencer with a right foot sprain and Barnes with a groin injury.
“Those are two guys who could miss some time,’’ Raiders coach Dennis Allen said Monday at his weekly press briefing.
Spencer, who was injured in the fourth quarter, was spotted on crutches and wearing a protective boot on his right foot. Asked how long he could be out, Spencer said, “We’ll see tomorrow.’’
If Spencer can’t play, the Raiders will have lost each of their starting cornerbacks before the third game of the season. Ron Bartell, the other starter is on the short-term injured reserve list with a broken shoulder blade and can’t return until late October.
The Raiders finished the game with Pat Lee and Joselio Hanson as the starting cornerbacks. Phillip Adams and Coye Francies are in reserve, but neither played a snap on defense against Miami. Chmidi Chekwa, a fourth-round pick in 2011, is available on the practice squad.
General manager Reggie McKenzie and the personnel department were presumably busy lining up visits Tuesday from out-of-work cornerbacks.
One option would have free safety Michael Huff lining up as a cornerback in some packages. Huff was told at the end of last season by the previous staff he would be moving to cornerback, a plan that was scrapped by the new regime.
Matt Giordano would then get additional snaps at free safety.
“We’re going to look at the personnel that we have,’’ Allen said. “We’re going to look if there’s anybody out there that we feel like can help us.’’
Miami’s Brian Hartline caught nine passes for 111 yards against Lee and Hanson after never having more than five receptions in a game. It’s an understatement to say the next three weeks will be a challenge to a team with a depleted situation at cornerback.
The Pittsburgh Steelers come to town with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger throwing to Mike Wallace and Antonio Brown. Next up is Denver, with all the problems Peyton Manning presents to a secondary. Then the Raiders travel to Atlanta, where Matt Ryan has two explosive talents in Julio Jones and Roddy White.
“The next guy has to step up (if Spencer is out),’’ Hanson said. “That’s why you have depth in the NFL. Everybody can play, so the next guy has to step up.’’
Barnes was replaced by Willie Smith for the final 40 snaps against Miami. Smith arrived as a waiver claim from the Washington Redskins when the Raiders finalized their 53-man roster.
“I thought he did some good things,’’ Allen said. “We’ll continue to work with him. I feel like he’s somebody that we can work with that can get better.’’
Allen took the unusual step of having the entire team watch film together instead of breaking up into position groups, delaying the start of his weekly press conference by more than two hours.
“I just felt like it was a good thing for us to get together and look at it as a team and see where we’ve got to make improvements so we don’t let these things happen again,’’ Allen said.
Hanson said it was the first time in his seven year career he’d watched film with the entire team.
“Any player across the league would say it was awkward at first . . . I think it was good, holding everyone accountable for what they do on the field,’’ Hanson said.
Said left tackle Jared Veldheer: “There’s a sense of urgency _ all the guys are depending on me to make this block or execute this play. I need to do it. How do I fix it? That kind of mentality.’’
– Allen said he was confident the Raiders could repair their punctured run defense with the current personnel.
– The Raiders average drive start is at the 19.5 yard line _ the worst in the NFL.
– The heat and humidity appeared to wear down the Oakland defensive in the second half, when it gave up 190 of Miami’s 263 rushing yards. Allen said it was “a factor but not an excuse.’’

We just got beat by a team with a QB who was playing WR for a college team just a couple years ago….
We didn’t press his WR’s….
This is on the DC
We have arguably the best running back in the league who is averaging 2 yards a carry…
This is on the OC
We have a GM who ignored the Corner position in the draft…and instead used free agency to clean shop and replace every corner back on the roster….
The corner position is our weakest spot currently….and it doesn’t look to improve any time soon….
This falls on our GM
We have a Coach who stands by it all and says….we just have to get better….
LOL

I like how the media guys questioned Coach Allen about the time Monday interviews would be conducted in the future…
I wonder how long the media had to wait this afternoon?
That wasn’t very nice of the Head Coach….

Thanks for thee update Jer.! Please Coach A. activate Chekwa from practice squad…we seriously need him. Still upset we let DVD go…he wasn’t given a chance. So what did Knapp have to say?
September 17th, 2012 at 8:58 pm
It’s all on the players, especially the O-Line. Step up. This is your job!
September 17th, 2012 at 8:58 pm
But especially the corners. You know what I’m talking about

September 17th, 2012 at 9:01 pm
Did the coaches get any sleep? I hope not. They need to get this team on the right path.
September 17th, 2012 at 9:01 pm
Yeah at least DVD was athletic enough to compinsate for his inexperience every once in awhile. Pat lee could make a play all day and they were running the same route over and over to the same guy and still couldn’t stop it. Terrible
September 17th, 2012 at 9:02 pm
*couldn’t
September 17th, 2012 at 9:03 pm
First down Atlanta !,,,
September 17th, 2012 at 9:03 pm
They need to get some damn giddy up, they can sleep when the season is over
September 17th, 2012 at 9:03 pm
See how they threw the ball to guy that was on the 1st down marker? Knapp? Are you watching?
September 17th, 2012 at 9:03 pm
Absolutely Max. Every time I saw Pat Lee he was running in circles…looking lost.
September 17th, 2012 at 9:04 pm
1st down Atlanta
September 17th, 2012 at 9:04 pm
Atlanta with game on line throws 3 yard pass on 3rd and 5 and gets first down. Looked like a Knapp call.
September 17th, 2012 at 9:04 pm
We have no corners !!! Is going to be a long season
September 17th, 2012 at 9:05 pm
Heard a lot of talk when Reggie was hired about how good of a talent evaluator he is, hopefully he can see how much talent we don’t have! Everyone on our roster should be considered to be either cut or traded.
September 17th, 2012 at 9:05 pm
Seems like Reggie Hack is getting some instant Karma, doesn’t secure a back up long snapper during camp and game 1 our LS goes down, 3 botched punts cost us the game.
Discards our previous corners for fa scraps, they both go down before game 2 is over and the back ups get ABUSED!
Scared to think what’s going to go wrong this weeks far as personnel goes…
September 17th, 2012 at 9:05 pm
And we have knapp !!!
September 17th, 2012 at 9:05 pm
Chekwa can get her done.
September 17th, 2012 at 9:05 pm
Falcons O-Line looks good
September 17th, 2012 at 9:06 pm
Can the Fans interview Knapp?
September 17th, 2012 at 9:07 pm
Im with Al, its the damn coaching. We have talent on offense, but its not being used right
September 17th, 2012 at 9:07 pm

September 17th, 2012 at 9:08 pm

DA are you watching.
September 17th, 2012 at 9:09 pm

September 17th, 2012 at 9:10 pm

Don’t revel in the Donkey loss too much..
If Peyton is upright, he is going to carve our db’s.
Not much reason to think we can stop him.
Hell, are we EVER going to get a turnover?
Our plus/minus is going to be epic bad this year.

You have to love a Donkey lose
September 17th, 2012 at 9:12 pm
It’s not the system. Our line needs to learn and execute it properly. That’s all there is to it. But I do thing knapp is a horrible play caller. We need a real play caller. Immediately
September 17th, 2012 at 9:12 pm
Lets jump ahead to the bye,..its known the Raiders will be 0-4. During this bye we have nothing to look forward to. No press conference, where the Grim Reaper would hold court in front of a PACKED media room of media freeloaders in shock at the freak show,..no awesome 1970`s high tech projection equiptment…not going on about the seedy past of all who were just fired, for cause, Reg, Dennis, and Knapp,..we would all have learned all kinds of riveting creepy details of their lives that only the Grim Reaper could dig up with the help of his Ghoulies…then, after all the sordid freaky details of the fired losers is done, the Grim Reaper tells us all, it was Al Saunders all along, all part of the master plan,..to bring back the greatness of the Raiders,…nope, those good times are done,…this years bye, at 0-4, will be Big Dummy talking to bell hops at Oakland International Airport to see if any of them ever played corner….might get a Dennis sighting behind the microphone, in his best JC Penney shirt,…ya, good times…anyway, take care kids.
September 17th, 2012 at 9:12 pm
Maybe they should put Krapp upon the coaches box, without a headset…

Attenuate the Taint! Yeah that’s how I really feel. After 28 yrs of crappy football from the Raiders (the Gruden years nonwithstanding) I am done with Davis control of the Raiders.
The Davis’ don’t own the Raiders, the Partnership does. It is a consortium of owners. Cast a bronze statue of AD and sit it near the ridiculous eternal flame burning in the coliseum, and give Mark a permanent box seat.
But after that, get rid of them.
Do you actually think that this can continue? If it does the club will eventually lose so much money Davis’ will be forced out unceremoniously.
Don’t be caught up as a worshiper.

BackStage,
Don’t go nostalgic on me, please. It was you who was correct, against overwhelming pressure of an onslaught of Reggie worshipers, saying the Reggie should have never been hired and the actions he was taking were negligent.
You were 100% correct and they were all wrong. Now bask in the glory of “I told you so!”
You know deep down the Davis’ have to go. AD was a raving maniac and lost it when he got better in the late 80’s at winning lawsuits than winning football games.
C’mon Backstage, you know Mark and Davis control has to go.

Manning threw 3 picks in the first quarter. Did Carson Palmer? So EVERYONE has a bad game now and then. We’ve seen this before, and we’ll survive it. The thing i’ll be looking for is for Allen to motivate them and make an adjustment to the offense that is obviously stagnant.
September 17th, 2012 at 9:23 pm
We are still in this. Chargers will screw up somehow. Denver will be up and down all season. All we need to do is pick up a legit corner, and start a pay for performance plan for our O-Line. BAM!!! Do that and we win the division. Bring back Chekwa too

Not only do we have the overwhelming concern of how to score more then 13 points, but now we have to find scrubs nobody wants, to replace the starting scrubs nobody wanted, good thing it’s only 3 terrific QB’s they’ll be facing, and some equally good wideouts. On a brighter note, atleast the D line is consistant and still fails to stop the run. But that shouldn’t be a concern really with our next 3 opponents preferably chucking it around the yard at will. Not to mention I’ll have to hear the always classy and supportive O.co faithful booing their hearts out by halftime. Everything looks great!

Some of you guys need to realize PALMER is way past his prime. He has a ton on money in the bank.. is the fire still there ?? I dont know ..
Ya he doesnt have the best WR’s .. however when he does have one .. he over throws em. He is a wild card throwing the football. Now that we have no run game.. get ready for more INTS. I’d rather watch a young guy like Pryor who is hungry and has passion take over and see what he could do.

Man if u are coming to a new team as Rookie Coach.. why the F would u mess with the one thing that was a bright spot??
I feel he underestimated big time.. how hard it would be to do. He keeps on saying he knows how hard it is to go against because he is a defensive coach.
Well I think its harder when u actually are able to stretch the field.

Real men acknowledge when they are wrong. Sometimes you gotta humble yourself and admit failure. We have numerous guys still on this team that shouldnt be here.
The two biggest losers for the team on the field are easily Tommy Kelly and Richard Seymour. It is the same old garbage effort from those two. I knew our defense would get worked. McKenzie did all that talking and these two idiots still collecting checks in Oakland. Reggie Bush ran up the middle to start the game! Unbelievable! Solomon Wilcots was calling Kelly out early. Embarrassing to even watch Seymour play. Even when he gives full effort for his usual 5-6 plays again, you can see its over…I mean way over. How can you defense be good when the two main hogs are little piglets?
Michael Bluff Tackling Huff needs to get cut right now. Excuse after excuse has been made for this bum. i’m sick of watching him try to play FS. He makes zero game changing plays and always have been in on the biggest plays the defense has given up since he came here. Look at the tape…it doesnt lie. He is soft as they come
Corner stink but are absolved of any blame at this point. We have no defensive ends man. No speed guy to scare QB blindside still? Come on this is not championship football. What made Reggie not draft a pass rushing DE? Shaughnessy isnt a top flight RDE….he can be an adequate LDE and thats about it. Houston has no business ever playing LDE…he is a prototypical UT. Al fked this up and yet Reggie still allowing it to go on? Kelly will be the UT again making 11 million? Fk is going on?
I’m not a Palmer guy as well all know but how can you judge him being in this system? From jump I knew this would be fked up. He has zero chance to succeed…ya hear me? Sure they can maybe sneak a win or a few against someone unexpected…but from week to week we are gonna get stomped with Palmer in a WCO.
Its a tragic tale to see DMAC officially say fk it and quit. He is dropping pass after pass and not giving it his all. To start with Knapp in your career only to get him back is deflating. It was nice knowing DMAC is what I’m saying to myself now….what else is gonna happen? He is gonna demand to leave this BS under Knapp
Cooper Carlisle is so awful I dont know where to start! This guy wouldnt be in the NFL if we didnt start him. Brisiel made a good block but still not handling biz out there. Wiz and Veldheer our only competent linemen. Might as well start Bergstrom. Right Tackle position is an absolute joke no matter who plays.
You guys can say I’m jumping gun but if Reggie cant it right fast then he needs to go as well as all the other coaches or force Allen to make a business decision on his friend. Someone has to go now. The City is making an outcry for its sports teams and its gonna get ugly at the Coliseum.

Its the inverse of the Niners. A lot of their high picks stuck, and ours ended up traded away or ineffective.
Paying the price of the failure of a 1st round overall pick QB – thats happened to Cleveland (Tim Couch) and San Diego (Ryan Leaf) – the one good thing is S.D. and S.F. turned their situations around with DEFENSE. If we finish top 10 or top 5 there will be a some decent picks to help bolster the defense. But first things first – have to suffer through this season….

We do not have a winning season I expect Reggie to let DMac walk, or be traded mid-season to get something for him, same goes for Seymour, Kelly, Carlisle, Bergstrom, Leinart, Heyward-Bey, Huff, and McClain.

knapp dont make adjustments. Cant game plan an offense. Dont have players that can gets YACs. Maybe DHB, but he cant catch. Allen, admit you were wrong letting knapp design an offense without the correct personel. Why couldn’t he design it to fit the personel? Huh? Fck it, what else is new.

Seymour will be released

Huff needs to move to CB .. or get the F out.. tired of him watching play FS and chase everyone from behind.. taking wrong angles. Him at CB is better then any waiver wire scrub we would pickup this week.
Get mitchell to FS if u must or Giordano. This sunday will tell me alot about how much fight this team has.
Cuz on Sunday I saw Tommy Kelly throw his helmet down in disgust while standing on the sideline after we failed to convert a 3rd down.
I saw DMAC come back to the side line bench sitting down talking to Reece. REECE kept agreeing with him and then did the SMH. They were probaly talking about how much they miss hue.. or how much this OFFENSE sucks.

B you are right on point. I don’t know what it’s going to take to get rid of Knapp but whatever it is, it must come to pass. DA needs to put friendship aside, look at the facts and relieve Knapp, Pollard & Hoffman from their current responsibilities. He must then request Reggie to go get Wylie & Wiz 1.0 back to get the O-line back to where it was last year. Oh yeah, bench Brisel because he’s not good enough. Move Wiz 2.0 to OLG, Parsons tom Center, Barksdale to OLG and get this new guy up to snuff at ORT. Going back to Power Blocking will get DMac going once again and as soon as some pass blocking starts to reoccur, CP3 should start being more effective. Lastly, Saunders should run the entire offense and call the plays. If the offense starts hitting on all cylinders the D won’t be out on the field for the majority of the game and they won’t be tired out by the half. They play reasonably the first half when they are not gassed. This approach should start winning us some games but it all starts with DA having the courage and strength to do what is necessary for the betterment of this team. Changes must be made now and not next year.
September 17th, 2012 at 9:57 pm
Theres only one reason to watch any more of this season, or even pay any attention to it…put Pryor in now, give him the rest of the season,..youre not winning a game anyway, maybe he can be a miracle. I have spoken.

In my opinion, it’s everyones fault. All units of the team should be held accountable. All postion coaches held accountable. The head coach held accountable.
However, in response.
The d-line should know, as seasoned as a few of it’s players are that it’s crucial to get opposing offenses off the field in as few series as possible. They should realize our corner play is a major concern, and that forcing the QB out of the pocket and into rushed throws is our only real chance against the pass. Further more, sacking the QB drastically improves our field position. With our leading scoring coming from Janokowski, this is very important. The D-line must also consider that holding opposing run games to fewer yards per carry will only benefit their stamina in the later stages of the contest. As it’s obvious they have poor conditioning and fatigue easily. Evident in the Miami game. Humidity and heat is not an excuse, maybe for a high school ball club, not the pro’s.

If you are a real man Meth, you should admit that you are wrong. Miami ran 43 times. McClain had two tackles. How can a guy who’s job is to stop the run be in on 4% of the plays? And yet once again, it is the job of the DT take on a double team, read the play and then make the tackle, all the while you are being double teamed. The lst Reggie Bush TD Seymour was not on the field. I could go on and on, but why beat a dead horse?

Knapp will be demoted for sure…I think Reggie isnt the smartest but he cant be that dumb to allow Knapp’s lame play calling sink the team. We need an act of god to save season

I foresee Seymour retiring by the end of this season. He’s got bad wheels and has overgrown teeth (he’s long of tooth as they say). He probably a 1st round HOF candidate so he might as well start the countdown sooner than later.

Yes but the D Line can’t possibly get to the QB if they are running three step drops and passing to the quick out which is wide open because your corner back is lined up ten yards down the field and then back pedals another five. I don’t know if he was blind or stupid or what but I don’t understand why that wasn’t fixed.

Real men acknowledge when they are wrong. Sometimes you gotta humble yourself and admit failure. We have numerous guys still on this team that shouldnt be here.
The two biggest losers for the team on the field are easily Tommy Kelly and Richard Seymour.
============================================
**********************
Wrong about what? Me? No I’ve been right in Kelly and Seymour and you still stubbornly holding on. You and Greg Knapp have alot in common on that front. If you read my post and even read on of the fixes today Bush’s first run of game was up the middle for 11 yards. You think Kelly and Seymour werent in together?…within a few plays Seymour called for a sub lol. Guy is washed up. Kelly cant play the run. I dont know how you miss that. McClain certainly has lived up to expectations but he gets more criticism that these two. Has been since he got here. Seymour and Kelly get pass after pass. Time to get it out your head that they are any good. Defense will never be good as long as those two are starting on it. I dont want anymore 30 plus year old guys starting at DT for me. They not hungry to compete anymore just hungry for snacks

Some Raiders fans (or maybe Trolls) when team loses really bad and does not show anything to look forward to then here comes 0-16 and when they win big or show something to look forward to then Superbowl Here we come … LIke really there is no middle ground .. there is no realistic thinking .. that teams can look horrible 1 week and look really good … Just like i said yesterday …. things change from week to week… in week 1…. Jets pounded Bills to submission and every one is like oh Jets look good and same ole Bills ….. Den crushed Pitts then everyone here was like ready to claim Peyton god … and Pitts too old.. week 2 was different story … Bills humiliated KC….. Steelers crushed Jets …. Denver looked like a normal team and Payton looked like that post-neck surgery Payton … this just tells you to don’t overreact after couple of weeks … yes Knapp doesn’t have really good history and does not show much to look forward to .. but did Belichick had good history before NE ? exactly .. you can’t start going oh same ole freaking RAIDERS or this or that after 2 weeks of play… KC last year got crushed like 3-48 every freaking week and they looked on their way to being 0-16 n yet they played tough rest of the year 8-8 so have some faith .. Raider Nation .. SUPPORT PLAYERS .. COACHES .. Show them some love .. because it could be a matter of weeks and Raiders could end up being a very formidable team …. and you guys would look fool with all these predictions (yes i’m talking to you guys, who are submitting the names on fire, demote or whatever Knapp list … none of you guys would be here to eat crow, when things turn good…
Here to a pretty good next week

September 17th, 2012 at 10:20 pm
RediaR, I think Reggie will make trades during our bye week if we do not win at least one game especially the game against Denveras we cannot afford to be 1-3; 0-2 in our own division.
I’m not expecting much except for McFadden, other players could be combined with mid round picks to move into 2nd and 3rd round.
Some players may be willing to restructure for playoff shot.

Your dislike for Brien and Al Davis can’t be greater than your love for the Raiders. Unless you are a total fraud!
Greg Knapp and this entire offense stinks and you know it!
Now is the time to put our differences aside and fight for a common goal…getting our team back on track!
September 17th, 2012 at 10:21 pm
Yeah like firing Knapp and learn a new scheme 20% into the season is going to take us to the SuperBowl … Some guys just want to see a change for the sake of just change …. Firing Knapp or demoting him at this point is not going to do anything … other than just sending out a message that we overreact as a team and fan base….no good coordinator would want to come here ….this is not going to do anything .. just get behind the team and give them some confidence … let’s freaking put this team to victory … why do scrub teams like Seattle always have freaking good record at home year after year… because their fans don’t overeact and they always support the team from start to loud .. fans at O.co always go quite after every bad play and get so pumped up after a score like that was Superbowl winning score.. why can’t be so loud like that all the time , no matter how the team is playing… Thats why home teams win.. because fans always have their back

If he was, he wouldn’t be destroying our offense like he has to date. Knapp is there for Knapp’s ego – PERIOD. I will be there to see DA stand on the sideline, with the deer in the headlights look, wondering what’s happening here. He probably won’t saying anything to McCheese for fear of getting shot. Sorry, that was another poster’s line in here earlier & it really cracked me up. Something that good should be used as often as possible. Back to Sunday. I will be there to see our ST unit flounder in the wind aimlessly missing tackles and wondering where the ball is. I’ll be there Sunday to see McCheese McWhiff the majority of opportunities he has at tackling the ball runner and giving up once the runner has passed him. I’ll be there Sunday to see 2 yet unidentified & unknown CB’s give the fast Steelers receivers a 20 yard buffer on 3rd and 4. I’ll be there on Sunday to see Knapp call for a 2 yard out on a 3rd & 4. It just goes on & on. I’m sure it will be so stressing that I’ll be burned out at the half and be forced to retreat to my home base before the 3rd quarter begins. Yeah, I really can’t wait for Sunday to get here. And, I get to pay a fortune to witness this crap. But, that was my choice just proving that everyone makes mistakes. See you all there Raider Nation. Did anyone see Ice cube first take ?? they basically asked him if he would be patient with the Raiders rebuilding and that dude looked at his watch and was like tick tick… WE BEEN WAITING. Finally the last two years the offense was trending upward.. then we take 3 steps bckwards with knappy. THats on Allen.
Im just telling u.. when u have guys like Romo, Rod woodson, and LO neal saying this offense doesnt fit the personel or (DMAC).. then its f’d up. THey know what it is.

This is the reason..why we don’t win many games at home and always there’s a game in the season, we get crushed so bad , because of fans like you who freaking go to games with that kinda attitude … i went to a KC game like couple of years ago and it was Raining … we got down 10-0 to KC and the fan base was down ,, but i made sure every one cheered in my section and i cheered out loud .. next thing you know Jacoby returns the 2nd half kick off all the way and we come back and win … not saying my cheering had something to do with it .. all i’m saying is no matter what Boo’s will not get u anywhere … when you’re there you cheer from bottom of your Lungs all the way no matter what the score is … if we support the team and get behind them .. they will want to show something even if their mindset was to come into the game and just collect the check .. they would still want to do something for us fans … anyways GO RAIDERS .. to heck with u loser attitude guys … hope you guys become Niners fan … it would still be better to see Coliseum (sp) filled with only 10.000 DIe hard Raiders fans than 50k+ other fans who just go there when things are only going good

RAIDERS just 2 games outta 1st place, 14 games to go.
Six games within the division. RAIDERS contol their own destiny.
0-2? BFD, 14 games to go.
BTW, the game was alot closer than the score says in miami, and the chargers did NOT beat us. We lost the game. Big effin difference.
This team has a lot of leaks, but Reggie/Allen got the stop leak formula.
Look for a big time pro upset as the Steelers come to Oaktown and get their arses handed to them on a Silver and Black platter. Hum-babe.

The problem is not Knapp the real issue here is that we don’t have the players to run this scheme, just take a look at the Falcons they have Julio Jones Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez and they run it in perfection mode because they are real playmakers and create separation from the corners after 10 yards.
You have to execute perfectly to have some success under Knapp’s scheme obviously he is fooling himself up cause he isn’t gonna get it, not this year from what it looks so far. The closest playmaker we have is Moore and he isn’t even a top 30 wr.

Embarrassing post all the way around…I feel very sorry for you. They been installing ZBS since March and it looks putrid. Whats the explanation for DMAC going from excellent to trash? WCO isnt my most favorite but why not have a QB able to run it? We seen him in college with that offense and it was ugly under Hackett. I point to Drew Bledsoe after Parcells left. That schit dont work with those type of QBs.
Knapp is a loser and is the only guy that can make TO look right…remember TO cussing him out in SF all the time? He is hated in SF,ATL,Seattle and Oakland…..why? Exactly!
Reggie you were with the LA Raiders…you know nada about this crowd up here. Sunday just watch the signs and we hate Knapp chant. Brutal schit is going down Sunday…I’m betting on multiple brawls and all. Just will be a black eye on the area…I can smell it. Team means so much to so many and they continue with a bunch of BS with players, coaches, upper brass…the works!
The presser was truly pathetic….no way you can justify this crap for another game. you not helping morale by going backwards. Knapp will be demoted for sure…I think Reggie isnt the smartest but he cant be that dumb to allow Knapp’s lame play calling sink the team. We need an act of god to save season
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Method,
Good post. Again……I say it again. It’s not the GM, HC or OC, or all the big fat drones called players. It is Davis management of the team. Davis family has to go. The Partnership owns the team not the Davis’.
Think deeper. Davis management and the Davis’ have got to go, while managers and staff who know how to operate a football team on the NFL level need to come on.
Attenuate the Taint!! Fire Davis. Clean the slate.

Our offense was ranked 9th in the league last year, which is impressive. I’m certain that’s our best offense since ‘02, when we won the AFC championship and our QB was league MVP.
Here’s what’s key, however:
We’re 15th this year. Really, is that a drastic fall? It’s a clear decrease in rank, but we’re still better than average.
Read: Most teams in the league are playing WORSE offense than the Raiders right now. The numbers don’t lie.
Talk of firing an OC after week 2 is impractical anyway. But when your OC is in his first year and has your offense in the better half overall in the league and you’re calling for a change? That’s just flat out nuts.
There is no way Reggie’s making a change. There is no way any GM in the league would make a change if faced with our situation. Some Raider fans really need some perspective right now. I understand the anger. There’s no doubt Mark is pretty much moving the opposition direction of what his dad did. But that’s who Al left in charge. Change happens. Sometimes you have to adapt.

While you guys are right, you are missing the point. The point is an entirely new regime has come here. And they are going to do it THEIR WAY. Not your way. THEIR WAY. Reggie McKenzie came here, and he wanted a Head Coach that will install a Green Bay style WCO, with a zone blocking run scheme, and a varied front defensive style. No team unless they are an expansion franchise is going to be able to come in and change the entire personnel to fit their schemes. That’s why it takes a few years. Not two weeks.
Mike McCoy was already running a system in Denver. His system. He had the Olinemen he wanted, some of the wideouts he wanted, he just needed a Q. When Dungver fan was booing Orton mercilessly, the team was faltering and they put in Tebow and he adapted what he was doing to Tebow’s skill set. But it was still his offensive system.
September 17th, 2012 at 10:43 pm
Shocker, the defense didn’t get fixed. Did anyone really expect the defense to be any good this year? I didn’t really. I hoped and still hope it plays more like it did in the SD game than the MIA game but I expect wild inconsistency on that side of the ball.
The only thing I’m really annoyed about, is that the offense is doing so terribly because of the decision to give a guy, who has already been run out of the bay a couple of times, the reigns. I was in denial that this was a rebuilding year, frankly, because they didn’t rebuild anything. Rebuilding involves bringing in some new faces. They decided to keep everybody but play against their strengths.
Apparently this is a demolition year. Next year is the rebuilding year.

I’ve been a Raider fan since 66. Season ticket holder starting in 67. I’m currently 67 myself and don’t have the time to continue waiting for this turd to evolve. I support this team. I do NOT support people who are passing through and come in here and further destroy this once great franchise. I’m not going to sit there and I’ve the leadership that I’m happy with their current development of this team. IMO, they need to know that the Nation is NOT a Happy Camper. They & the players know the negative cheering is not directed at the team but rather at management who are not doing their job very well. Players who are giving it their all know the catcalls are not directed at them Chances are, given the opportunity, they’d probably join in based on what we are now seeing. The Nation deserves better than what we are getting and until management changes their way, I’ll continue to voice my displeasure. If my BOO’ing offends you, I’m sorry. Not my intention to upset any Raider Nation member but sometimes, you just gotta do what you gotta do.

I was in denial that this was a rebuilding year, frankly, because they didn’t rebuild anything. Rebuilding involves bringing in some new faces. They decided to keep everybody but play against their strengths.
Apparently this is a demolition year. Next year is the rebuilding year.

Yeah like firing Knapp and learn a new scheme 20% into the season is going to take us to the SuperBowl … Some guys just want to see a change for the sake of just change …. Firing Knapp or demoting him at this point is not going to do anything … other than just sending out a message that we overreact as a team and fan base….no good coordinator would want to come here ….this is not going to do anything .. just get behind the team and give them some confidence … let’s freaking put this team to victory … why do scrub teams like Seattle always have freaking good record at home year after year… because their fans don’t overeact and they always support the team from start to loud .. fans at O.co always go quite after every bad play and get so pumped up after a score like that was Superbowl winning score.. why can’t be so loud like that all the time , no matter how the team is playing… Thats why home teams win.. because fans always have their back
********************8
Exactly! He got his last two OC gigs were by his buddies Jim Mora Jr. and Dennis Allen. Got one fired and surely gonna get the other one fired as well
/–/
So you’re saying it’s good to go to games expecting the worst and boo all the time ..tell me how many times have we won the game by booing yup you got that Right 0 .. Imagine how many extra games we could have won had all that energy wasted on booing be used on cheering on the team … Maybe 1 or 2 more wins … Booing gets you no where but cheering always Does … Are you going to say Seattle is a good tEam or the atmosphere at their home games always lift them to play well?? Have we not booed enough the last 8 + years .. Where has that taken us?? Yes let’s fire knapp hand that job to who?? DA? Who’s a D minded coach .. Or Saunders ?? Who’s just a senior advisor and believes in vertical power scheme or one of those assistants who have never been coordinators in their life ?? Yes give it to them and if they show no improvement after couple of weeks ..boo them also .. Or just boo the ownership and they will start doing good like the last 10 years
*********************
Always clueless you are. Booing Jamarcus Russell enough helped get his ass off the field. you are suggesting being a docile loser and accept losing. Only a loser says that lol
Comparing our atmosphere to Seattle is laughable….just stop right there becauuse the further you go with it you will only embarrass yourself
Saunders style fits this current roster better than Knapp….plain and simple….lie and say it doesnt. Its a failed season

————————————————-
If the Broncos can change their offense mid season to fit Tebow then the Raiders can change.
This is a unique situation because Raider Nation has already seen Knapp and his crap offense before. IT DID NOT WORK.
September 17th, 2012 at 11:10 pm

I never understood why we hired Knapp? Was he the best available? I like DA, he is young, and he has potential. Knapp’s career as OC is not impressive. He had 2 good years with SF at the beginning of his career as OC, but he was average with ATL, and his offense ranked in the 20’s the last 4 years of his career with 4 different teams. He was a QB coach the last 2 years, which indicates that GMs/ HCs were not interested in him as OC.

DA & Knapp are golfing buddies. DA decided to surround himself with trusted friends. That’s akin to lending money to relatives – a really bad idea. Knapp obviously sold DA, a defensive minded & experienced coach, a bill of offensive goods with a master plan of how great he would be as OC and leader of this new offensive system where DMac would be a top RB. Well, we all know now how that turned out. If DA is to continue as HC into the future, he needs to fix this problem now. If not, then this team will end up at 0-16 or 1-15 and Reggie will be forced to fire them all at the end of the year.

Wow… Resorting to personal attacks and when some one doesn’t agree with you , where have I seen that before? Look I’m 25 and I been the fan of this team since 2000 and been through hell these last 10 years just like you guys … But I won’t jus ask for change for just the sake of change after 2 freaking games no matter how bad a guys track record was .. Yeah it could rEally turn ugly but Allen must have seen something in him and early results are not good and we should atleast wait until we’re 25% into the season to call for any1s head … I just talk from the experience .. I have seen tEams that have obsolutely sucked 1 week and turned around the next week … I just don’t like this woe is me attitude after jus 2

The problem is not Knapp the real issue here is that we don’t have the players to run this scheme,
=======================================
That’s when you tailor the scheme to your players, if you’re worth your salt as a coordinator. Look at what Mike McCoy did with Tebow. Coaches are paid to put their players in position to make plays and play to their strength.

Oh, now this “Ferrari” offense was at the mercy of Jason Campbell, an injury prone running back, and a defense that had been one of the most unreliable in the league for years?
Now, wouldn’t the whole point of a “Ferrari” offense be that it’s good enough to survive injuries?
A couple of guys go down, and the Ferrari’s suddenly a Pinto?
I think I’ll try a few more lots…
September 17th, 2012 at 11:31 pm
Our O has not been that bad ..we actually had some chances to put 20+ points on board in both games…the blame should fall on players, injuries ,assistants, trainers and everyone else too not just one guy…they all need to get better at what their doing for us to get better .. Dennis Allen says we do have the players for the scheme. Romo, Woodson, Lo neal say we dont. Scheme or no scheme. Knapp is still awful at calling plays. Flat out. PRedicable, boring, and the D knows whats coming
=================================
It makes you wonder how out of touch McKenzie might’ve been with the rest of his contemporaries, and the gap between a scouting guy and administrator that has experience selecting coaches. example Harbaugh had come from college and brought Vic Fangio with him, so he knew. – Allen was a defensive background/coordinator and got a coaching job, but went younger and hadnt established crudentials to bring in his defense. – this is why some GM’s over-rule some head coaches, but why some head coaches like to pick their own staff.
How could Allen not have known this and compared it to the offensive mindset of the previous season? Why didnt he see this coming….?

0-2 is not that far away from 1-1! P Manning is not going to raise the AFC west to credibility! No, by game five he will resemble old, washed up CP.

Sirblitzalot,
Who cares how Peyton is playing in week 5. Even if the donks have an unsuccesful season they’ll still go 8-8, 7-9 at worst. But it doesn’t fvcking matter – the way things are going for us right now we won’t win 3 games.

WOW! So much negative blasts going on in here. We are stuck with this teams direction for the foreseeable future. Reggie came into a horrible situation: Lots of speed merchants w/limited football talent, very few draft picks, very undisciplinned on the field, no money to go after upper tier free agents, the list kind of goes on and on. I think he’s done an admirable job. Is the team where we or he wants it? HELL NO! But it’s only 2 games in, they say the ZBS takes a while to get going. DA+GK are patterning this team around what Houston is doing. If our team could in 3 or 4 games really start resembling that Houston team on offense I think we’d all take that. The D in the 1st game looked pretty stout in spite of the ST screw-ups, first half of 2nd game they didn’t look bad either. This is going to play itself out in the next few weeks. Either GK will make right the ship and justify DA’s decision to hire him or we’ll know he’s outta here, let him do his job. I’ve been a Raider fan since 1960, I lived through all the great years and had some wonderful success to enjoy, maybe that’s why I’m so patient about this new regime. One thing I do know is that I have a ton of respect for John Madden and Ron Wolf, and if they feel Reggie was the best hire for our team that’s good enough for me. Reggie will get the job done. Lets end with some good stuff: The offense is gaining a lot of yards, they just need work in the red zone, the game killing penalties are way down, some of the draft and free agents have looked good. I know that’s not much, but it’s something. This is for JB: just because McFadden 20 is young doesn’t mean he doesn’t know the game, by calling someone young and nieve you are talking down to them, he may very well know more than you do about this game and our team.

Hue Jackson had us as a top-10 offense with Jason Campbell as a QB, 2 rookies on the O-Line, and significant chunks of time without DMC.
I KNEW our offense was going to take a MAJOR step back this season, BUT, I had the expectation that we would be a punishing defense that shut down opposing teams running game.
I think it’s very clear that this is a wasted/transitional season for the Raiders. Many faces are going to be gone next season as we are in full re-build mode. The frustrating thing for me is we were not a 4-5 win team. We had gone through some recent draft success and were on the cusp of being a play-off team. Al’s “D” had to go, but with a scheme change the improvement on that side of the ball only had to be minor to get us to the next level.
Very frustrating time to be a Raiders fan.
