Update: Raiders work out six players

By Steve Corkran
Tuesday, September 18th, 2012 at 2:49 pm in Oakland Raiders.

Update: The complete list of players who worked out today is as follows: T Patrick Brown, Central Florida, DB Darius Butler, UConn, DE Andre Carter, Cal, DB Cletis Gordon, Jackson State, DB Antwaun Molden, Eastern Kentucky, DB Kevin Thomas, USC.
While the players on Oakland’s roster are resting, head coach Dennis Allen and general manager Reggie McKenzie are kicking the tires on a handful of players to see if they can add more talent to their 53-man roster in light of several injuries to key players.
The Raiders lost starting cornerbacks Ron Bartell (shoulder) and Shawntae Spencer (foot), wide receiver Jacoby Ford (foot) and right offensive tackle Khalif Barnes (groin) to injuries since the season started. Several other players are banged up.
As a result, the Raiders reportedly worked out cornerbacks Kevin Thomas and Antwaun Bolden and defensive end Andre Carter today. Carter was in for a second tryout.
The Raiders have not signed any of the players yet. However, it’s safe to say the Raiders will make a few roster moves between now and Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Another option is signing cornerback Chimdi Chekwa from the practice squad and throwing him into the jumbled mess at cornerback, where the projected starters are Joselio Hanson and Pat Lee as of now.
Chekwa started one game last season and showed some promise before hamstring and shoulder injuries shelved him for most of the season.

Remeber when the raiders beat the eagles with JaMarcus?

I had the same feeling before the game I have now (blowout loss), but John Marshall put 8 on the line and stood up linemen and blitz McNabb all day…. the eagles said they were shocked and never seen that on film.

I really think thats the defenses best hope, some crazy blitz packages like falcons had last night.

    Yes, remember it well.

I gave the Raids absolutely no chance to win that game.

Still remember LMurphy’s great effort throwing 2 blocks on Miller’s 80 yard TD run.

Still remember JaMoron calling signals and having the ball snapped with 10 seconds still on the play clock when the Raids were just trying to close it out.

Seems pretty obvious we’re going to have to throw the kitchen sink at BRoth Sunday.

Seems equally obvious that he’s going to wiggle out of some sacks, extend the play anyway and torch our secondary.

    But, you never know.

    Any given Sunday.

  8. RAIDERMAN99 Says:

Don’t you just love talking draft after week 2 ?

Can we talk new OC while we’re at it ?

The local media cork & mcdonald are completely enamored with palmer. In fact they have made several bold predictions about him being an instant, just add water, microwavable super star.

When asked about palmer cork pointed to his yardage totals, and 1 int. He completely glossed over the wild inaccuracy to wide open targets, the questionable decisions (palmer could easily have 3 pick but has been fortunate), or his utter lack of leadership.

further when presented with the idea that the tribune tried to sell that macfadden and palmer together were a “super duo”, at this point has been far from the truth it was simply ignored.

The bottom line is that even though media members should be impartial, these two are clearly fans of palmers. this is why their take on palmer at this point is 180 degrees different from most of the national media in terms of palmer’s performance, and where he falls in current qb rankings.

Corky also still thinks pryor will / should be moved to tight end, yet says he expects pryor to be used in “wildcat packages”. this to me shows that he is either behind the times or doesn not want to acknowledge the changing tide in football.

Today there is no wild cat, in fact teams that are on the cutting edge teams are taking real option qbs and letting them play option football. they marry the option to another base so called pro offense.

In fcat bringing in pryor would not make it a “wild cat” because wild cat is a player that is not a qb taking direct snaps. If pryor is in the game he is a qb.

furthermore I have a problem with trying to label pryor a wild cat because it insinuates that he is not a qb, and if he has any success this label can be used in luie of giving him credit for good solid qb play.

cork does not believe pryor will get ny starts if the raider go 0-5, I have a very hard time seeing this being true.

Cork may not be a fan but im sure D.A and Big mck were very impressed with the way pryor handled himself and improved over the course of the pre season.

local media was wrong about palmer, and him being a savior or the best qb we have had since gannon, and they are wrong about pryor.

Now I know why davis didnt give a rip about them or what they think.

Too bad we didn’t suck for Luck or RGIII last season!
    ===================================================
We’ll wind up with the nbr1 pick again without a clear cut franchise QB available.

Unfortunate too, not only bcz if there’s no Luck or RGIII we don’t secure a franchise QB, and the trade down that Reggie will make will be less lucrative.
    =================================

One we will need to find out if pryor can carry the mantle. second there is geno smith and ej manual both maybe on the board when we pick, as both have been erroneously ranked behind bray, wilson, and barkley…..yawn

I talk draft all year. I spend at least over 300 hours a year researching draft prospects for this team. Funny thing is I always had an Idea of what Al would do but it will be a little bit more difficult to adapt to Reggie’s method. Out of my last Mock Draft the only person I had who Reggie Drafted was Miles Burris. I had Lucas Nix in the 7th but we got him as a free agent so score 1 for Reg

  14. RaidersAllday_LtsGeTit Says:

Raiders dont have ASO, Routt or CJ anymore from that year.

You are gonna be playing with backups who are backups..at CB. Guys no other team wanted. Its gonna come down to how bad they want to win on SUN.

Its gonna tell me alot about this team going foward. Also gonna tell me how hard they are gonna play for ALLEN. Say what u want about Huey or Cable.. the team played hard for them.

Get TP some playing time, change of pace QB.

Mistic what are your thoughts on Tajh Boyd? He’s probably my 1 of my favorite QB’s coming out of the draft

  21. Mistic1 Tha Supavillain Says:

you cant play pryor yet no matter how bad it gets over the next 3 weeks. there is a real danger of creating a major locker room problem.

lets say the offense continues to be bland and ineffective, then you bring in pryor for a couple of plays that produce. well you will have fans players and media saying that pryor should get more time, yet you havent committed to pulling the plug on palmer yet.

You could create an environment where the calls for the back up become a huge distraction, like we saw wiith tebow and orton.

Palmer keeps the offenses stuck in neutral and pryor makes some explosive or exciting plays you will have a controversy.

it would make more sense to wait until we are clealry out of it and only competing for a high draft pick. This way no one on the team will have to choose and things are clear cut evaluation. this also saves the front office from any blow back if pryor fails, they can say they needed to evaluate his game and being out of it gives them an early opportunity to do so.

Mistic what are your thoughts on Tajh Boyd? He’s probably my 1 of my favorite QB’s coming out of the draft
    =================

i like Tajh a lot, he is an under classman so he still has time to clean up a couple of areas in his game that concern me. He at times can be very streaky ( think mcnabb) he can also be a bit impatient and force throws if the offense is being stifled.

he has a huge arm, and clearly can handle a spread offense with motions and line calls and audibles. i would like to see him be a bit more judicious with decision making.

manual though i think is a victim of florida state, I dont think they do a very good job of developing the qb’s there. Ponder was a decent college player but didnt really seem to get better while there. he has shown major improvement in the pro game though.

Florida state reminds me of the jim tressel ohio state teams, they dont develop qbs, they just throw them out there and let the athleticism win. manual will improve with better coaching, like ponder has.

  31. RaidersAllday_LtsGeTit Says:

Bottom line is this team needs leadership right now? What guy on defense is gonna step up and get guys motivated and fired up??? I dont see seymour doing it anymore.. he is more a hey do it this way.

Kelly? nah.. the guy is usally whining and knows what to do post game locker room gane.

WHICH GUY on offense is gonna step up and make a damn play? I saw Ausberry last week fightin.. saw Wheeler on defense hustling ..laying the wood. But one or two guys cant do it alone. I dont care if its a rookie. Someone has to get this damn team fired up.

Dont expect palmer either. I saw pryor in the preseason with some fire and desire.

Nobody can do anything with that.

  33. DutchRaider77 Says:

  35. RaidersAllday_LtsGeTit Says:

Dmac is not finishing runs because there is nothing to finish off. He is usually behind scrimmage or 2 yards upfield as opposed to rippin off a 20 yard run

  36. RAIDERMAN99 Says:

Mistic, you know I’m not a Palmer guy. Never thought he was elite and I think he’s pretty much done. At the very least, his best days are behind him and I don’t think he’s a guy you want to build around. Definitely not long term.

Frankly, if the Raids wind up winning 2 games and he gets injured – I think he’s just going to call it quits anyway.

Having said that, you really need to get off his case.

He’s the least of our problems right now.

I’m not against TP getting plenty of playing time, but he’s clearly not ready.

If CP goes down, then yes, you roll with TP and you do not waste a single snap on Matt Lice.

Even if CP doesn’t go down, once we’re something like 2-8, I have no problems starting TP the rest of the way.

Raids have a huge decision to make after this season is done.

If it doesn’t look like TP can be The Man down the line then we’ve got to look at drafting a franchise QB.

But if there’s no Luck or RGIII there, then we’ve got to look at trading down and filling the shtload of holes we have virtually everywhere else.

In the meantime, give us a break with the Palmer bashing. Please.

    ==================

i would advise people to watch more football and study schemes.

There is a very simple reason dmac is struggling.

The offense is built on the stretch run, o line and back run parallel to the line and the back finds the seams and cuts up field. Penetration by the defense kills this run scheme, and that is why dmac is going nowhere too much penetration from the d line.

why is the dline able to penetrate so easily/ There is no counter action for the stretch run in our offense. The stretch run needs a counter action to work, for example fake the stretch and let palmer boot leg in the opposite direction. this slows down the flow of the defense so they cant sell out 1o0% to the run.

dont look now but we dont have qb that cant fake the stretch and boot leg, so the defense sees the o line turn to run and they just ignore the qb altogether and key on dmac.

This will not change unless plamer magically learns to fake the stretch and boot or knapp uses something like a jet sweep or ghost reverse motion to slow down the pursuit.

    basic football

Of course you are wrong Duck. We all know that the general partner in a limited partnership holds exclusive management power: that is a given.

I don’t have the time or inclination here, but please google “oppression of limited partners by general partner.”

It is a different legal issue which was not decided 20 yrs ago. No majority interest holder can commit intentional or negligent acts that damage minority shareholders, limited partners etc.

Read some cases which have defined oppression by majority interest holder in an entity. Most likely if the limited partners mounted such an action they would be successful.

Hes already said multiple times he is not scared of getting hurt,
And when has Mcfadden ever had a bad attitude or pouted? ever?

I think its just playing smart, whats to win 2 more yards?
hes already got the first down, if he was short of the first down he would drop the shoulder no doubt.

hey mistic, it called basic reading. I didn’t comment on why DMac is struggling. The OLine play (or scheme or gameplan, or play calling whatever fits your agenda) has been awful. No $hit.

In 2011 Dmac was CRUSHING people at the end of his runs (whether run from behind los, or a catch, whatever).
In 2012 DMac has run out of bounds or dropped to the ground almost every time.
    I think it’s curious.

C’Mon Mistic, you know what I meant. Packages for Pryor for Sunday. Tebow is a “QB” and everyone refers to the Jets packages as the Wildcat.

Wasn’t Brad Smith a QB? When Brad Smith ran that package it was called the Wildcat.

Pat White was a QB and the Dolphins referred to it as the wildcat.
    ========================

smith was drafted and forced to move positions to wr.

pat white ran the “wild pat” but again it is a misnomer

It is a lazy way for people to describe option qb’s today while slickly implying that they are not qb’s at all.

more code language, like “he is an athlete playing qb”

if you are a qb by trade than it technically is not a wild cat, it would simply be called shotgun option

not a lot of harbaughs out there, so 49ers got lucky. raiders were courting him, but he did not want anything to do with AD, which he respected.

I agree with you, 49ers are a model of how a modern NFL should be built.

hey mistic, it called basic reading.

    ——————————————————

It is not curious. He is playing not to get hurt. He was on NFL network before the season began. They asked him what his priority was for the season and he said “to not get hurt.”

Before the 2011 season he said he had a lot of goals that he would not discuss. He played with reckless abondon in 2010 and 2011. He got hurt both years and it looks as if he has been gun-shy about making people pay for trying to tackle him.

Other then the pass that almost scored against SD, I do not recall him breaking a tackle or even going into a tackle to try and hurt someone.

On the flip side though… he did have holes to run through in 2010 and 2011. This year’s stupid schemes have the backfield littered with defenders.

Myers is averaging 13.7 yards per reception and has posted a pair of catches of 20 yards or more, including a career-long 26-yard grab in the season opener against San Diego. Myers’ 151 receiving yards already matches his entire receiving yardage output from last season.

i don’t think completion percentage is nearly as important as yards-per-attempt. give me the guy who gets 80 yards by completing 5 of 10 over the guy who gets 70 yards completing 7 of 10. throw it ten times. who moves the ball most? that’s what counts.

zbs is a great system. period. it works for countless teams. there is no such thing as a bad blocking system for a particular back. there either holes or there are not holes. there haven’t been holes. and contrary to what mistic said earlier, it has nothing to do with penetration. the zbs was designed to take advantage of defenders shooting gaps. in the zbs, those defenders run right into guys coming down the line, therefore opening lanes. what teams seem to be doing to us, is running along with our linemen and not shooting in, therefore jsut moving the entire line of scrimmage sideways with no holes. finally, the rb just gets swallowed up with no crease.

wrong, in the wco specifically it places a premium on completion percentage and is known as a high p[percentage offnese.

there is no premium on yard per attempt, because several of the patterns are short and tied to 3 step drops. many patterns are under 5 yards and there are even zero routes, meaning the wr runs his pattern at the line of scrimmage.

it looked to me Miami was putting 8 in the box alot and DHB was not getting alot of separation. Palmer had some good plays and good stats, but i’m just concerned he doesnt have the IT factor. I mean Dmac should have caught the pass at the end of the 2nd half but Palmer somewhat frooze even though he was looking at Dmac and screwed up the timing. I also thought the biggest non play of the game was on 3rd and 6 from our 6 , palmer had dmoore on a slant wide open which possibly could have went the distance or at a minimum got us excellent field position. Palmer missed him we had to punt , Miami got great field position and scored the go ahead touchdown and changed momentum. Palmer is a good QB , but he doesnt seem to make the 2 or 3 clutch plays in a game .He was 1 for 12 on 3rd down conversions. thats why maybe a clutch possession receiver like Plax could help Palmer

However Hu made too many blunders ans lost the trust of the front office and players, and assitant coaches. he couldnt be retained bevcause of this.

When hu said “i want more power” he unwittingly insinuated that his boss didnt know what he was doing. no exec will tolerate that.

when hue trashed bresnahan ( i get why he did it) he shot his self in the foot. what assistant would ant to work with hue, knowing he could be trashed in the media if things dont wotk out? No one would want to work with hue after that, he was already under a cloud of suspicion based on how cable was axed and he got the job, with rumors of hue sand bagging cable.

when hue trashed the players and ditched his self appointed team captian and back bone leader in the middle of the night he nearly caused a locker room mutiny. when he benched boss and dhb and hire housh off the street he came off as petty and punitive. He lost part of the locker room.

    ———————————
I hope your right, but sometimes I think we all think our own players are more capable then they are. Plaxico caught 8 tds last yr with a qb like Mark Sanchez. The last Oakland receiver who caught 8 was Randy Moss in 2005. maybe Criner is the next tim Brown? But right now with our red zone issues id at least take a look at Plax. Unless we are going with a youth movement which is a whole different story. IMO, the raiders lack playmakers on both sides of the ball. We seem to celebrate way too much when a receiver has 3 or 4 catches during a game when in reality its all about scoring TDs which Plax does.

  345. raidertbone Says:

Been a while since I posted last; here’s my rant:
Knapp needs to go. He simply cannot adapt to the defenses that are being run in today’s NFL – ’nuff said.
Palmer is not the main problem, but (at this point) he’s certainly not the game-changer that he once was. The luster is off the stone. At some point this season, we’re going to just need to turn the reigns over to TP6 and see what he can do. But, at the very least, the QBs and the WRs are going to need to get on the same page. We’re not there now.
Trade DMac. I love the guy, and I wish him well – but we need to see what we can get in return – we need to build a team. Even a healthy DMac, operating solo, ain’t gonna get it done.
Defense – atrocious! atrocious! atrocious! The biggest, baddest beast on the defensive front who is available should be our top pick in 2013. Then, seek help through free agency to fill in a few gaps.
I will be happy now with 8-8 this year, but I am thinking that may not be realistic. We’ll see. Regardless of what happens, silver and black are still my colors, and the autumn wind still blows …

KoolKell, I loved Al Davis and still do. I don’t Know if you ever loved The Raider Football Father, Al Davis or not. The bootlickers you so call us are just looking at the production that is on display right now. It not easy to get over a love one when the NEW REGIME is underperforming. I quoted all I am looking for is 8-8. That record is what got Hue fired. The Raiders new GM and the coaches were supposed to be better than Hue. No one that I can remember stated the Raiders get a free pass to suck one year before they get better.

I hate what happened to Hue but not out to undermine the future. Yes, we know Al Davis is dead!!!

  361. shutdown Says:

I caught a few minutes of Comcast’s after-game show with former Raider center Jeremy Newberry. He pointed out, along with the host, that Palmer had been wearing since training camp, a bandage above his elbow. He also said the bandage was now a black one, presumably because it blended into the black jerseys.

They were of a mind that Palmer has been nursing tendonitis of the elbow and that it had greatly affected his accuracy. If that is true, it would also greatly affect the play calling, fewer long throws, for example, and problems with quick outs.

Has anyone paid enough attention to Palmer’s throws and throwing motion to have seen indications of a problem? It’s sure true that on several occasions, even when he’s been safe in the pocket, he has not followed through…passes have sailed high on receivers.

  362. Raider O Says:

    Len,

We need to improve our pass rush and the secondary especially the CBs. I still think we have enough talent and a capable vet QB, so I don’t think we should rebuild.

Say what u want about the mani-pedis, his inability to fix penalties and the defense, or how he snapped when we got knocked out of the playoffs by the chargers last year and then proceeded to blame everything on the players… But I still miss hue Jackson. And after only two games. Davis and reggie need to man up and admit they were wrong, Fire knapp, keep Allen as the HC and go appologize on their knees to hue, and beg him to come back and be our OC. With all of hues shortcommings the one thing he excelled at was running the offense. So again. I never though I wouod say it… But I miss hue Jackson.

not me , i value catching TDs and being able to create separation physically in the red zone which Plax is terrific at it. i could care less about speed in the red zone. its about strength, quickness, and having the will to go up and catch that TD. 380. J Hill Says:

We need better play from the players.

Look at how the DB coach was on the sidelines going bonkers EVERY TIME our corner let that slow arssed white boy (sorry, white folks, lol) run that basic 8 yd out. You saw him motioning for the corner to move up. You saw him pleading with the guy (both of those bums) to break on the play he KNEW was coming.

    Just one example.

DHB STILL running bad routes is beyond ridiculous. A WR running routes short of the first down marker on 3rd down WHEN THERE WAS NO ONE AROUND HIM is just dumb, man.

  381. boss01 Says:

I never thought I would say this but if we start 0-5 I would trade for Tim Tebow and let him unleash, I would even trade Dmac for him if they also gave us a 2nd rounder which I think Rex would go for…at this point desperate times call for desperate measures…there is a reason Carson Palmer has never won in his career, granted part of that reason is the Bungholes, but he is not gonna take this team anywhere on his own this year…Tim Tebow would ball with this team

All I read on this board for five years was how we need a new GM, we need a new system, we need new blood, we need to update our team. Now that that is happening all I am hearing is fire the new system, fire the new blood, fire the guy who updates the web site, what happened to our team?, this is not the Raider way! Man, some of you really need to just STFU.

    ^^^^^^^^
Old man Al died at the wrong time.

If he was alive, he would have kept Hue and let Hue hire a better DC.

We finally get a new GM and he makes a rookie GM mistake, by being overzealous (likely pressure from Mark Davis) and not evaluating the head coach properly and not understanding how important maintaining offensive continuity was (which was the strength of the team) and the allowing a young rookie 39 year old head coach to try to fix what wasn’t broken by not realizing to not mess with the offense and just work on the defense and fixing the penalty.

Once Knapp was hired and whole new system was brought in….it was over for the team as a whole.

They keep RB coach Kelly Skipper, but they don’t keep Saunders as OC and they don’t keep Fassel as special teams coach and force Big Wiz to resign because he knew the ZBS would not work here??

Bad decisions all around by McK and Allen.

Their stubborness will make them look stupid as well.

Rookie GM makes mistakes and so does his rookie head coach.

Here comes a top 4 pick in next years draft!

  401. DKnight007 Says:

Especially with the crazy emotional roller coaster of adversity he had to deal with in his first year?

What a bunch hypocrites we on this blog and in the local media.

    ————————————————————

    Why????

    =======================================

Because, like most NFL teams, we only have two backup o-linemen active on game day. One backs up at both tackles, and the other has to backup all three interior positions.

Bergs doesn’t play center, so Parsons is active. For this reason, if Bergs were starting in place of either Carlisle or Brisiel, then THEY would be similarly inactive on game day.

  405. J Hill Says:

Knapp not finding a way to use Reece and Ausberry is comical.

  422. nyraider Says:

JHill- your right that no other team has signed Plax. Being from Ny, i know the personality . Teams that got burned by TO and Chad Johnson have no interest in taking another risk. Many teams have good #1 WRs and dont need Plax . But I struggle with the arguement that we should have no interest bc that no other team wanted him when i had to watch an UNDRAFTED(which means to me no other team wanted him) ROOKIE WR fumble our first possession against SD and set the tone for the rest of the game.
Once again Plax had 8 tds last year, something no WR has done since 2005 for us. He’s not gonna be expensive and at the very least I bring him in for a workout ..

If we just got off a 2-14 season there might be alittle more understanding and acceptance.

I’ve been saying this since we parted with Wimbley. Even though Wimbley didn’t post a ton of sacks last season, he provided that consistent quick pressure off the edge that would force the QB to step up into the push of the rest of our physical d-line.

When you sit back and look at matchups, Reece and Ausberry vs LBs and Safeties should be something that is a MAJOR part of EVERY game plan.

2 TE sets, 1 WR, and Reece as a FB.

You could motion in to all types of sets with that personel on the field.

    ———————————-
    LOL

I saw it too. If the coach is apoplectic you know the dude is blowin it.

  433. J Hill Says:

But I struggle with the arguement that we should have no interest bc that no other team wanted him when i had to watch an UNDRAFTED(which means to me no other team wanted him) ROOKIE WR fumble our first possession against SD and set the tone for the rest of the game.

    ————————————————————–

    I hear you.

I just don’t want Plax AND Hagan.

    Plax AND Criner.

Streater over Murphy all day long though.

Moore, DHB, Streater Ausberry and Reece should be MORE than enough.

Some guy named Hartline was all Miami needed, lol.

    Creativity, Duck.

That’s all I’m looking for from the OC.

You know, to be able to say “that was a nice play call”.
    ====================================================
Creativity would be nice. Having a clue and calling a play that has a chance of gaining a first down would be even nicer.

Let’s put aside the ZBS debate for a moment and just concentrate on Krapp’s playcalling. They are two entirely different issues.

    Case in point:

It’s the Raid opening drive of the second half in Miami.

    They’re faced with a 3rd and 10.

    What does Krapp call ?

He throws a pass to Myers, running virtually parallel to the LOS.

End result ? A gain of 4. Punt time.

This is eerily similar to the play he ran on 3rd and 3 against SD the week before. That play gained 2 yards and the ensuing punt was blocked.

You have to ask yourself – Is Myers going to get 10 YAC ? Was there even a reasonable chance of the play gaining a first down ?

    The answer is NO.

Pitiful playcall by a pathetic OC.

There’s a reason the Raids were 1 for 13 on 3rd down conversions – and it’s NOT all the player’s fault.

Fellow Raider fans, we can do better than this. We HAVE to do better than this.

Knapp not finding a way to use Reece and Ausberry is comical.

You would think that after that one MONSTER play Ausberry made, he would get 1 or 5 more immediate looks!

Is there a LB or S in the league that can cover him or Reece?

    Be creative for Pete’s sake!!!!

Gotta throw it to the sticks on 3rd and long. Particularly on your own side of the field.

Gruden used to do that type of thing using John Ritchie on 3rd and 5,6,7…a short 2,3 yard out which Ritchie had to turn up field.

It sometimes worked, but when it didn’t I was pissed.

    Serious question.

If this was Pittsburgh and they had just come off two consecutive 8-8 seasons and whichever Rooney it is who’s in charge now died…and they brought in a “new ” GM and coach, and their team got off to the horrendous start ours has…how do you think the fanbase would react to that?…we’re talking the Steeler fanbase.

Honest opinion how that would be going over right now.

Would they sit back and accept it and agree to be “patient”?

  453. alex7 Says:

    Exactly JHill.

On any pass play you’ll have short, middle, deep routes.

I guess since we are not the hallowed Steelers and we are merely the sad azz Raider fanbase it’s somehow different? “You’re just the Raiders…shut the f up..you’re used to losing” “We’re the Steelers man”.

How would the Steeler fans react to being the 30th ranked team in the league and the butt of every football joke imaginable?

Why we should we be any different? Cuz we’re “just the Raiders”? Bullschytt.

  456. nyraider Says:

there are some things you dont expect from a 12mil QB. to go 1 for 12 on 3rd down conversions. To freeze up near the goaline when DMAC was wide open, hold it too long, then lose 4 pts(yes i agree dmac should have caught it anyway but carson wtf), to miss ausberry on a screen that would have went for 30yds, or my biggest issue on 3rd on 6 at our 6 with Dmoore wide open on a slant he could have completed a pass that might have went the distance or at least gave us great field position. instead we punt miami gets great field position scores the goahead td and it all goes downhill from there. Palmer has thrown close to 100 times and has a TD against SD prevent D and a 65yd screen for a TD. Palmer is talented but not sure if he has the IT factor. Carson needs to prove himself over the next 14 games and not be perfect , but know that when its 3rd down hes got to make the completion if its there..

I definite like the idea of having younger, quicker, tougher qbs, no matter black or white, however more important than the physical qualities are the winner genes. A qb could run like a deer, and throw darts 80 yds in the air on target, but if he can’t put his team on his back and win consistently, then it doesn’t matter the laundry list of stats.

Football is a major team sport, but somehow qbs get most of the credit when teams win, and so they should also get the wrath of the fans when they lose. That’s why they get paid like they do.

The same, if Palmer doesn’t get it done get him out of Oaktown.

43 million is not an exaggeration, it’s an aberration to pay someone like Palmer that kind of money, but he got it, good for him, it’s up to him to live with himself stealing the team blind.

  463. JohnnyRaider Says:

I do not share the opinion that we should get DVD back, for me, I could not wait to get rid of him from the moment I saw him. DVD can not cover nor can he tackle, he was always getting burned. Kelly and Seymour should both be sat down or deactivated and make room for new players who want to really be a Raider. Huff is no better. DA should bring in a ton of players and gut most of the non performing defense players now on roster. Be nice if we can get a decent Center and put Lil Wiz back at LG, and look for a new RG, to shore up our O-line. Big part of the team are worthless and should be gutted out from the 53 man roster. If Raiders keep losing, may as well go to the nearest park and bring in street kids who will probably have more football sense and show some Raider Pride and hearth.
