Marcus Allen on field, declines comment
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Sunday, September 23rd, 2012 at 12:34 pm in Oakland Raiders.
Raiders running back Marcus Allen, who will be lighting the Al Davis torch before today’s game against the Steelers, said through a team spokesman he won’t be talking to reporters.
Allen had been an outcast within the Raiders organization because of his relationship with the late Al Davis. His return comes presumably at the behest of Mark Davis. Interesting to see the reception Allen gets. His arrival with the franchise coincided with its first year in Los Angeles and his entire career was spent there before finishing up with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Oh yeah,and FK Knapp!

Shut Down Knappster!
September 23rd, 2012 at 12:40 pm
Why would Marcus even show up, if he has nothing to say??
September 23rd, 2012 at 12:40 pm
Routt got a pick…nice.
The Chiefs probably paid 1/1000th what the Raiders would have had to pay for that same pick.
Routt was a check casher whose enormous salary made the Raider cap burst
September 23rd, 2012 at 12:40 pm
I want to win with all my heart.. But I’m thinking more like Steelers 26 Raiders 17. We put up a fight, but when it comes down to it, our DB’s will get torched when the Steelers need a play
September 23rd, 2012 at 12:41 pm
there was a lot of hate for Marcus Allen on the blog the other day whats up with that? I mean I know he went to the chiefs but from what I heard he was done pretty wrong by mr davis. I need an OG to give me the game on this one.
September 23rd, 2012 at 12:43 pm
I will take any check casher at cb over the trash heap that Reggie brought in….

No thanks, just pay me so I can split
September 23rd, 2012 at 12:44 pm
Barksdale being INACTIVE points to the the bigger problem of the Raiders getting very little from its draft picks except a play here and a play there.
Can someone give me some AJ Green like productivity?

Nothing more annoying/hilarious than niner fans whining about officials. Can’t stand being outplayed. Hahaha.

Stories of partying and sleeping with other people’s wives. That’s the only scoop I have. Al is about all about loyalty. And if those rumors are true, that explains the beef between those two.
September 23rd, 2012 at 12:45 pm
All this talk about Vick staying healthy all year and not a word about Romo. That poor guy has taken some of the biggest hits I’ve ever seen a QB take today. The last one should have been flagged. We’ll probably hear he had a concussion in the next couple of days.
September 23rd, 2012 at 12:45 pm
IN a salary cap world you just can’t throw out a bunch of money and pay PRO-BOWL level salaries to a bunch of guys who are average AT BEST.
The total disregard for production to pay is part of the reason why this team is in the hole.
The other part of why the team is in the hole is because guys like Taiwan Jones, Barksdale and DHB cant contribute

Like i said mths ago, i had my doubts wrt the secondary! ,
Anyhow, we should defenitly sign Plax….. if our WR keep droping balls! The contract wouldn’t even be guaranteed. It would surelly help in the RZ! And I think Saunders should take shot at calling plays.
September 23rd, 2012 at 12:49 pm
I don’t get it either Eastoaklandraider.
Marcus was a great running back, Raiders Super Bowl MVP, and nothing but a standup guy off the field that I ever heard.

Andy Dalton is a stud, give me the pocket passer who can scramble occasionally, over the scrambler who can throw from the pocket occasionally.

Raiders gotta get their collective heads out and just go out and make some freekn plays….Vets, rooks and everyone in between,
Make plays!

Who did they draft with our #1 this year?

Bartell… Injury prone, spencer ….slow and injury prone, hanson and lee…. 30 yard cushions….i wouldve rather taken my chances with DVD and Chekwa….

On the Tennessee TD, the wide receiver (Washington) makes a great play on the ball and helps his QB.
DHB, let’s go

I see no emotion even on D.. no Leaders who are vocal
September 23rd, 2012 at 1:02 pm
Raiders are 2-14 when DMAC rushes for 50 yards or less.
btw Raiders loss in 2nd half last week then free falled from there because they didnt seal the edge on the run and MISSED TACKLES.
FCK D TACKLE.. U MUST TACKLE
September 23rd, 2012 at 1:02 pm
Yep, watching other teams wrs makes me wonder where we find our stiffs. No wiggle after the catch. Only chance to score is if they have an open straight line to the end zone.

Of course, most posters here know little or nothing as to the true nature of the Raiders, since these same posters are too young to have witnessed the rise of the Raiders through the 60’s, 70’s, the glory of winning their 2nd and 3rd Superbowls in 81′ and 83′ respectively, and then the Raiders’ decline.
Much of the Raiders success in their crescendo of the 80’s came from the remarkable abilities of Marcus Allen. Much has been made of the feud between Davis and Allen, yet little is known of the factual basis of that feud, such a Marcus had an affair with OJ Simpson’s wife Nicole Brown, which probably was untrue.
I, myself, talked once with Marcus Allen at the Hamburger Hamlet in Brentwood, in LA. He was a great guy, very friendly and open; I saw him having dinner there alone and approached his table. I thanked him for his great running and he invited me to sit down, and bought me a Heineken beer. We chatted for about 15 minutes. This was after Bo Jackson joined the team.
The following excerpt illuminates the true cause of the feud between Allen and Davis, and underscores what I have said about Davis numerous times. After Coach Flores retired in 1987 and Allen left to play for the Chiefs, the Raiders began their decline which has not yet bottomed out.
“Socially Allen traveled in lofty circles. He was a regular guest at Simpson’s Brentwood estate with Al Cowlings and other sports luminaries such as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Ahmad Rashad, and Lynn Swann. But his success was leading him to trouble as he gained more attention from the media and the Raiders team and owner got less. Raiders maverick owner Al Davis was becoming increasingly aware that one of his players was being singled out above the team. Allen continued his individual brilliance the following year in 1984, leading the league in touchdowns with 18 and gaining 1,168 yards, but the Raiders faltered. By the end of the season Davis was openly calling Allen a selfish player to his coaching staff.”
The Raiders had little success since then, notwithstanding the Gruden years. AD got rid of Gruden, of course, since Gruden had garnered more attention than AD, a situation the rapidly declining AD could never tolerate. The subsequent decade saw Raiders’ management guided by AD, a literal madman in the throes of dementia.
I am shocked but not surprised that Allen had the class to light the torch this afternoon. Personally, I would have pissed on it and extinguished it if I were Allen. But Allen has way too much class to do that.
Now the current ills of the club are still on Raider management and that management must be extinguished.
Fire the freakish spawn and his spawnor. Wash away AD (BFH) forever.
