Twelve with Raiders ties nominated for Hall of Fame

Twelve people with Raiders ties are among the 127 nominated for the 2013 Pro Football Hall of Fame class.
The 12 are: coach Tom Flores, personnel man Ron Wolf, wide receiver Tim Brown, running back Roger Craig, tight end Todd Christensen, guard Steve Wisniewski, offensive tackle Jim Lachey, defensive tackles Ted Washington, Sam Adams and Warren Sapp, and cornerbacks Albert Lewis and Eric Allen.
Notable omissions are punter Ray Guy, who long has been among the nominees, wide receiver Cliff Branch and quarterback Jim Plunkett.
A Hall of Fame spokesman told me that all three now are considered senior candidates. Players whose careers ended at least 25 years ago fall into that category.

I think Rolando needs to put a hit on Manning like Joe Mays put on Schaub.

Yeah, that’s just what we need. Give the refs a reason to make the Raiders the most penalized team again. Raiders need to make a good impression this week.

dont think Carter will help us out much, as most of his sacks last year were either coverage sacks or sacks were he came unblocked in the pats 3-4 scheme. here we run the 4-3 so you your not coming unblocked too much and with his speed being diminished by age and injury I just dont see him being much of a factor. maybe in the 3-4.

It’s about time…what took so long? I bet ya if Tom Brady retires today…they would change the rules so that he could be inducted in the Pro Football Hall Of Fame the next day. Took way too long to induct these Men into this Hall of Fame. Outrageous…I’ll tell ya. Thanks Steve

Even if they are only nominated it’s taking too long for them to be inducted.

We the faithful deserve such a great group . What a
    bunch of Heroes !
    THANKS FOR YOUR WORK GENTLEMAN!

  • stoopidmike

Lester Hayes is a notable ommision.

  • omoran

They played like Gladiators the full 60 min of each game.
RAIDER HEROS THAT NEVER DIE, for that was their “FINEST HOUR”
Commitment to Excellence! The few, the proud the RAIDERS.

  • omoran

This men will always be remember with all our hearts, they never
Worry about injuries or concosions or hamstrings, for they were never
Lazy ,and all they wanted to hear was the WISTLE to start the game.

Tarver, the mad chemist needs to impress me this week…Mannning had been dinking-dunking for long drives. Needs to scheme a good zone disquise to bottle-up the flats and close the pocket with the line.

Have you seen our “pass rush” ???? Worth a try, Carter has a mean streak and can knock back tackles with his strength …. we just need to get a solid rush across the line and then it will come together, I think Carter and So’oto are additions to target that weakness.

  • omoran

If we only had that group back, we didn’t have to worry about the Donkees, Fox or Manning!
    We will even ROCK YOU!!!
Somebody put that old man back in his place!–

Cliff Branch have more touchdowns and yards than Lynn Swan and Swan has been in the HOF for many years. Branch even have three super bowl rings.

Of the six noted above, Routt was making too much and Barksdale was a bad ZBS fit and might not have the determination to emerge at this level.

The other four were clearly mistakes by Sir Chubby Checker.

    LMFAO

I don’t know if you’re HueJax’s cousin or what, but when he was fired you completely lost the plot, dude. You went from one of the more clear, level headed thinkers around these parts to someone I’m pretty sure keeps a Hue Jackson shrine in his basement.

DeMarcus Van Dyke cleared waivers and was signed by the Steelers to play special teams. Palmer was chewing up their secondary in the second half last week, yet Tomlin & LeBeau still didn’t play him for a snap.

Louis Murphy is no improvement on any receiver on this team. Not a bad guy, but a 4th/5th receiver and those are interchangeable on most teams.

Bruce Campbell rides the bench in Carolina while Mike Goodson has been a real contributor in Oakland.

Chimdi Chekwa is still a Raider, just being allowed to develop on the practice squad.

I don’t know how firing Hue could translate to Reggie pizzing fire into your breakfast cereal, but enough is enough, man.

    Damn nice post.

Chris in NY usually is a great member but he took a beating in this one.

  • ghostraiders

Ill take chris from ny take on most things raiders than 98% of the fools on this blog.. keep making sense chris.. im not sold on these coaches right now either.. Knapp is a moron.. but hes only one so far.. lets see what happens..

  • raiderinparadise

We are operating like a real-team.

Making additons/subtractions to help during season in weak areas.

Reggie is the man with the plan.

Al Davis would be signing guys that used to play for him right about now he would be calling Doug Gabriel to play DB and Sam Williams to play LB and Nick Miller at WR.

  • Raidernationdave

The greatest travesty of the HOF is the fact that Cliff Branch, who has better numbers than Lynn Swann isn’t in the HOF.

Bigger snow job than the one with New England!

    Speed kills, 21 thrills!!!

  • ghostraiders

No excuse for timmy brown not being in there.. total b.s
