The Broncos closed out the first quarter with a 21-yard field goal by Matt Prater to take a seven-point lead into the second quarter.
Until Peyton Manning fired incomplete into the end zone on third-and-goal from the 3 and Richard Seymour batted down a fourth-down pass, the Raiders have shown no inclination to stop Manning and the Broncos from moving the ball. Manning finished the quarter 12-for-16 for 133 yards and one touchdown _ a 22-yard strike to Joel Dreessen.
The Raiders marched from their own 20 to the Denver 20 before stalling on their only possession, getting a 38-yard field goal from Sebastian Janikowski.

So much for this highly touted D-line. Pressure will be a problem no matter who we have as our corners. If we blitz, we risk a big play like the huge 3rd and 7 conversion on Denver’s first drive.
The answer is not as simple as some fans like to make it. You can’t just solve our problems with the blitz.

Manning is eating our lunch. The real test will be the half time adjustments on the D side. Manning gets rid of the ball too quickly for our D-linemen to get at him. The best thing they can do is get their hands up to block the passing lanes. That, and stuffing any run attempt.
CP3 needs to keep pace with Manning. If he does, we still have a chance.

Emptying the backfield on that 3rd down play in red zone had mistake written all over it.
Terrible play call by Knapp. He tipped the offenses hand to the defense.
