Kelly returns to practice, Carter on verge of making debut

By Steve Corkran
Friday, October 12th, 2012 at 11:48 am in Oakland Raiders.

Defensive tackle Tommy Kelly is practicing today after missing one day with a sore foot. Therefore, it’s likely that Kelly will play Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.
It’s also looking more and more likely that defensive end Andre Carter is going to make his Raiders debut Sunday. He is getting reps with the first-team defense at right end today in practice.
Coach Dennis Allen said Thursday that he isn’t certain if Carter is ready to play in a game for the first time since he suffered a season-ending quadriceps injury for the Patriots last season.
In this case, actions speak louder than words. The smart money says, you will see Carter on the field in obvious passing situations and third-down passing downs Sunday.

– Right offensive tackle Khalif Barnes (groin), cornerback Shawntae Spencer (foot) and tight end Richard Gordon (hamstring) aren’t practicing today for the third straight day.
Given that, it’s unlikely that any of the aforementioned trio will play Sunday. Allen will announce their status to the media in about an hour or so.
So, look for Willie Smith to make his third straight start at right offensive tackle, Michael Huff to do likewise at left cornerback and David Ausberry and Brandon Myers to get more reps if Gordon doesn’t make a speedy recovery.
Beyond that, the Raiders are relatively healthy coming off the bye week.

– The Raiders are in the midst of a nine-game losing streak the game after a bye. They lost those games by an average of 14 points.

better hide the fact that our corners cant cover man to man, by playing zone. Dont worry though these reject corners do make up for not being able to cover, by also not tackling.

also zone may allow for more pressures as we havnt been able to muster up much from our grossly over rated d line

There are cases where you don’t force a scheme on players.

If Manning had gone to the Eagles they would not be forcing him to run the Mike Vick style offense. They would adjust to what Manning likes to do.

They’ve invested alot in Palmer and DMAC…IF THEY WERE SMART they would tailor the offense to suit those guys until such a time arises that they DO have the personnel to run a different scheme better.

Or…if it’s just some schlep they have no investment in at QB or RB.

Peemour Dush acting like he is the spokeswoman for the Oakland Raiders saying who will play and who will not.

True. And they may be 5-0 but they have beaten a bunch of cellar dwellers. And their Oline is not the best. There are some things we can exploit here.

Jamista Clown!!!! You still counting on that upper class tax cut so you can buy a bottle of more expensive ripple?

  • DJ Johnny

I see alot of teams and the way they lay it all out on the line when they hit someone…and tackle. It doesn’t seem like our guys have done/are doing that.

Almost looks like everyone’s trying to avoid injury or something.

  • walrushooker

I’m just not that scared of Atlanta. I don’t get it.
    kc – woopty doo
    den – close game
sd – matthews fumbled every play
car – close game… really?!? Carolina!
was – close game…. really?!? Washington!

They don’t have a run game, and can’t stop the run. We beat Pitt for this exact reason.

Looks like your boy Ryan didn’t have any budget details last night Jamista. Ven tho he drew of Rob-me’s budget. But you still believe in them right?

  • http://repealitnow.org MistaBrown

Peemour Dush, are we talking budgets today?

O’bama hasn’t produced a budget in 4 years…but he has inflated our deficit by 6 trill.

    mope & change

The last game in Dungver sure looked that way. And the Bunco’s were pasting our players left and right. This Raider team better learn to get physical quickly.

  • RaidersAllday_LtsGeTit

thats what im talking about. They are not very physical. actually all of “reggies” guys have brought some physical play.. need more.

but Powder puff, RO, Kelly, Seymour (bad knees) are not gonna cut it

  • RaidersAllday_LtsGeTit

i really thought the raiders would beat denver… but you could tell after the first drive the way Manning went down the field it was .. game. set. match.

The first drive will tell alot about how the game will play out. Falcons first offensive drive

If the President can even tie Romney in the last two debates, it’s four more years (for better or worse).

Who else can we throw out there? Bilukidi? The guy I want to see out there is So’oto. We need pass rushers.

  • DJ Johnny

Being “physical” was one of the main things DA stressed this team would be.

Like Raidersallday said, Wheeler is one of the few that seems to lay the lumber when he gets the chance.

My jury is still out on DA.

I don’t like anything about him so far. I don’t like the way he looks, the way he talks (the nauseating, boring cliche’s) but the worst being the blowout losses.

If he would just put out a competitive team i would be ok with him.

Of course it all changes Sunday when we pummel Atlanta.

The next debate is about foreign affairs. I got $50 that says Rob-me can’t even find America on a map. Even if it has USA in big letters across it.

I WANT BRANDINA ROSS TO TAKE OVER FOR HANSON

  • Mistic1 Tha Supavillain

I dont understand where some people her are coming from. The falcons would need to come in on a jamyo-esque purpledrank induced sleep walking stupor to lose this game. Our onluy hope is if they do the strip clubs the night before seeing this as an easy win.

There is no need to discuss what weaknesses the falcons seem to have, we dont have the minerals to exploit them. The falcon o line is decent not great, but our d line is obscenely over rated. that d line couldnt exploit a strung out crack ho with a promise free highs for life.

besides i cant say enough that if you are sizing up the falcon defense you may be fooled into believing they dont play well. The falcons are what the colts used to be, explosive offense, bend dont break defense, and opportunistic taking the ball away. they want to out score you and p[lay with the lead them allow the amoeba defense to pressure and create turnovers.

    major problems match ups

white and jones vs our secondary.

    turner vs romac

falcons o line vs our d line

    the amoeba defense vs palmer

atl return game vs our coverage team

Dmac must carry often and we will need to score td’s. Runnning for 150 yards winning time of possession will not help if we are kicking field goals, which is exactly how the falcons like to play it.

We might have hope depending how our new pash rushers turn out.

Carter / SOTO… if they on that crunk juice we might have a chance

    77,

Have u heard that there’s a chance So’oto will actually play on Sunday?

The matchup is going to be their Oline versus our Dline. While their WR’s are certainly very very good, not to mention Tony Gonzalez, our corners are improving. It is the lack of ANY pass rush that is killing the secondary. With Andre Carter and So’oto coming in the last two weeks that has to help.

We now have DHB, Moore, Hagan, Streator on the same page. Myers is looking spectacular, Ausberry is emerging and don’t look now, but here comes Marcel Reece. The only player on offense I am concerned with is McFadden.

Special teams breakdowns could be the issue in this game.

On another note it was hard watching the A’s season come to an end yesterday. But damn proud of the fight in em.

Were suppose to finish in last place.. but won 94 games.. played as a team .. worked hard alot of rookies and guys harldy making big$$$ yet they earned every cent they were paid n more.

Won AL west.. took a high payroll team into deep waters. Oakland A’s great season.

All us fans ask of these Raiders is that they try and go all out.

  • inonewordraider

Against San Diego they trailed 10-6 at halftime before losing 22-14. Against Miami they led 10-7 at halftime before losing 35-12. Against Pittsburgh they trailed 17-14 before pulling out a 34-31 victory. Against Denver they trailed 10-6 before being routed 37-6.

  • RaidersAllday_LtsGeTit

Raiders have shown so far they dont play well on the Road. Another east coast trip?

sheeet they might as well make it worth while now and win the game
