Raiders receive extension in attempt to sell out Jags game
By Steve Corkran
Thursday, October 18th, 2012 at 1:13 pm in Oakland Raiders.
The Raiders asked for, and received, a one-day extension from the league so that they could try and sell enough tickets to avoid a blackout on local TV.
The Raiders sold out all eight of their regular-season home games last season and their first two this season. Typically, when a team asks for an extension, it winds up selling enough tickets to satisfy the requirement for a game to be televised locally.

The main reason the Raiders are losing is poor coaching…
Knapp’s pathetic play calling, ZBS ect.
Allen’s failure to have a backup long snapper.
Tarver switching to the 3 man rush with 40 seconds left.
The failure to use a 6′3″ 230 lb back that runs a 4.4 forty…Terelle Pryor.
I hate to say it, but if Hue was coaching this team, we would have a winning record.

Too bad the community doesn’t give the Raiders the Stadium they need to stay in Oakland.
————–
It’s the communities job to show support by buying tickets.
It’s the team’s job to put a decent product on the field so the community will continue to show support.
It’s then then teams job to take those profits and go build their own damn stadium if they need to. Threatening to go back to LA every 6 months is not the type of environment that fosters support from the community. This org had a waiting list 10 years long for tickets before the first move to LA. It’s up to them to regain our trust.
It certainly isnt the communities job to foot the bill for a new stadium.

The game is played at a high level in the NFL this is not the SEC.
QB’s that run are for college not the pro’s.
You act like its a new thing…no its an old thing that is done at a level below professional football in an amateur league called the NCAA.
Why dummy down the NFL by trying to make it more like college by having the QB run a lot and often.
It wont work in the NFL it never has and it never will in this league you need a pocket passer…sure they can be elusive like Aaron Rodgers or hard to bring down Big Ben etc.
=================
you continue to put your foot in your mouth.
1. staubach, elway, young were running qbs. No where near the athletic ability of cam and griffin, but they won superbowls as runnning qbs. brees and rodgers also fit that mobile qb mold. It is for the pro game the lombardy trophy says so.
2. I said it is new to the pro game, many guys have had this talent in collge, but are often forced to switch positions due to old out dated obsolete thinking and football models. this happens in college too, (RGIII went to baylor because it was the only school that let him compete strictly at qb) but more so in the pros, lenny moore kordell stewart for example.
3. mnay pro coaches visit college campuses every year as the collee game is known for innovative offense, this is why the spread is now so popular in the pro game. is brady or rodgers or brees playing in a “dummyied down” offense? What about bradford or stafford? they are runing spread offenses, just like rgIII ran and now geno smith. you must not watch college if you did you would know this
4. just becaus e i guy can run doesnt negate his passing ability does it? was elway or young not pocket passers? what about brees, pocket passr? yes they are but they can also move. Same can be said for RgIII and cam they can throw from the pocket but they are athletes on an entirely different scale. it is a plus, not a negative.

thats funny because any time i post your immediate response always includes skin color of the players.
Then you come back with “it doesnt bother me”

he got better with every single snap, and by the third game he was making plays and our offense was explosive.
I ahve already posted his preseason stats, he posted the best numbers in the preseason out of any qb on our team, and he led a win. Maybe you didnt see it, but im finding people dont want to give him credit for his passing ability here. the numbers dont lie
That is reason to believe he deserves a chance to show what he can do in a real game once we are mathematically out of it.
If you plan on keeping palmer than no need to risk injury at the end of the year in the last meaning less 3-4 games.
If your not sold on palmer and his 16 million next year evaluate pryor and get a jump o the draft.
pretty standard in the nfl really
*****************************
Terrelle Pryor is NOT an NFL calibur QB. NOTHING he did in the preseason shows that. Of course he improved from game 1 to game 2. He improved from uncatagorically bad to dreadful, then to just awful, and then in the 4th game he devolved back to dreadful.
If he showed ANY promise at all 2 different coaching staffs would not have left him in street clothes every single game.
I know we all WANT TP to be great because he is a Raider. Facts are facts, the guy will NEVER be a starting NFL QB.
IF I am wrong I will get a Terrelle Pryor is great tattoo and post it for the world to see.

Come on Kell make it out to the game. The Raiders need a inspiring person like you that persevered through though times…Like jumping over the guy in the wheel chair to get the last blueberry muffin in the Swiss Hampton Inn……Or who sold his first house after being in the market for only 3 years… They need you to drive in the locker room in your red Corvette and talk about how you saw Randy Moss at Safeway and didnt stop stalking him until you were knocked down and apprehended by the great Oakland PD. But you got a few feet from him… They need to believe and you are their belief…

That horrible Carson palmer trade is still gonna screw the Raiders this year with the 2nd round pick. That could have been huge for this team.
So if the Raiders pick in the top 7 i See Reggie getting more picks.
Raiders need MLB Manti Teo’ or stay with the 7th pick and draft an ELITE PASS RUSHER.. or PREMIRE DT halio Ngata type . That NT/ DT from UTAH Star leoutiu

Well, I see that the “decent product” criteria was met since these were the playoffs, right.
Then, I went and saw that the average attendance for the games played vs. Detroit in Oakland was 36, 000 or so. 36K for playoffs?! I would think that the Giants, for example, draw that for a regular season game when the Mariners visit ATT.
Speaks volumes about support IMO. I would have expecte 50K or more per game.

Oakland Stadium proposals: Rick Tripp Development has a proposal on the table for a new Raiders stadium in Oakland, that is 100% privately financed (through a Saudi-owned investment bank, three private equity funds, a pension fund, in-stadium taxation, etc.) With that being said, his company also just received a 9 figure conditional commitment for naming rights should his project be the chosen one. There is a confidentiality agreement in place until a couple of milestones are reached, but I can tell you that the company is outside of the Bay Area (but in the U.S.), as to not interfere with the Raiders other sponsorship opportunities and ventures, and that it will be the first venture into the sporting world for this company.
The other Oakland plan is being run by the City of Oakland, County of Alameda, and the JPA (Joint Powers Authority). They have appointed JRDV Urban International (which also includes Dallas-based HKS Sports and Entertainment) and Forest City Real Estate Services LLC for the development, planning, and architecture work. This proposed stadium plan, actually features a retractable room, as they would like it to also be used for large conventions and concerts as well. The city and county cannot justify the cost of a new football stadium for only 10-12 home games a season, plus a Super Bowl. This plan would require a $150-$200 million dollar loan from the NFL (and for all you naysayers who claim that the NFL will not loan the “other” Bay Area team funding, look no further than this article: Oakland Raiders Stadium: NFL Commissioner Sent Eric Grubman To Oakland – Oakland City Buzz | Examiner.com), in-stadium taxation, federal and transportation funding (the Coliseum site is eligible for this because of the close proximity of BART, Amtrak, the 880 and 580 freeways, and the Oakland Airport), and a form of Japanese private investor ship, etc. There may come a point where Rick Tripp’s Development team could become interactive with this plan also. There has been some recent talk of this being a possibility. Remember, voter approval is not needed for a Raiders stadium in Oakland, as the City owns all of the land in and around the site-with the exception of a Denny’s and truck yard. Tax dollars will not be available for this project, as Alameda County taxpayers are still on the hook for the renovations (addition of 10,000 seats-Mt. Davis, the Eastside and Westside clubs, and luxury box suites) done to the Coliseum when the Raiders returned to Oakland in 1995.
Now on to the L.A. stadium proposals. For 1., the NFL has made it perfectly clear that THEY will play a heavy role on deciding which stadium proposal will move forward, and which existing NFL team will be allowed to relocate. Per the NFL, both L.A. stadium proposals must include the option to house 2 NFL teams as well. The Raiders WILL NOT relocate to a stadium where they “might” have to share it, when they can do just as well in their own market in Santa Clara with the S.F. 49ers. The NFL has also mandated that neither AEG (who currently runs the Oracle Arena and O.co Coliseum in Oakland-and who also has an agreement with the JPA that they cannot speak to the Raiders about relocation-not the no-poaching clause that was originally reported), nor Majestic Realty can speak to any NFL team about relocation until at the conclusion of the 2012 season at the earliest.
Both L.A. groups (AEG with the Farmers Field proposal in downtown L.A., and Majestic Realty with Los Angeles Football Stadium in the City of Industry) are requiring a certain percentage of ownership in whatever team decides to relocate to Los Angeles. Why would they build a stadium for a prospective team unless they had some kind of stake in the future success of the venture? NFL has stated that they are not behind the current business models of either of these groups. They have said that they have seen progress, but not enough for them to back either one completely at this point. It is speculated that they prefer AEG’s Farmers Field proposal, but no one has gone on record to verify this. In any account, where this concerns the Raiders franchise, Mark Davis has repeatedly said that the Raiders are not, and will not be up for sale. He will not give up controlling interest (which is a contractually structured 47%) in the franchise, and the silent stake holders, have shown absolutely zero interest in selling their shares. With that being said, things could always change if all of his preferred options go down in flames. Highly doubtful that all of them don’t pan out.
Not to mention all of the potential lawsuits that AEG is beginning to face in their quest to win the NFL’s approval. See attached article: LegalNewsline | Farmers Field bill challenged in Calif. court
In the end, what is currently true, is that CEO Amy Trask and General Managing Partner Mark Davis are working extremely hard, and negotiating solely with the City of Oakland, County of Alameda, and the JPA to construct a new stadium on the current Coliseum site in Oakland. There are a lot of moving parts in East Bay politics, and when it comes to the Coliseum Complex, things are quite complicated. That’s why patience is needed.

Unless your boy Pryor can come in and be a top 10 RB, there is no logical reason to have him out there other than for “oddity tent” factor of the local carnival.
It’s not that the Raiders are having trouble selling out games after only 6 weeks. It is the fact that this team has been DISMAL for ten years. The fans demand that the franchise do SOMETHING. Honestly, I agree with the fans. It should not take 10 years to put out a quality product.

Sorry, but those sort of sweetheart deals where the municipality finances a stadium while the teams finances a fraction of the cost are long gone, especially in this economic climate.
Just to get to ground breaking, costs millions and takes years to accomplish, it ever.
The 49′ers will finance almost the whole cost of the Santa Clara facility.
If you think that Mark, with the Raiders in disarray and unable to sell out games, can just whip out of Oakland and into a new stadium as if he had tons of economic leverage, you are wrong.
If stadiums are so easily built then why the years long hold up ?
Raiders are going nowhere.

Mistic1 your lost and your football IQ is so low that we cannot even have a credible debate.
Staubach Elway were elusive QB’s that looked to throw the ball and were great escape artists when it came to avoiding the sack and yes even once and a while they might run for a first down. But that was only after they had looked off many WR’s and realized it was their last option to keep the play alive
This is completely different than a running QB like Cunningham or Vick who if no one is open they look to run or a Cam Newton who will go through his reads then take off running.
This is elementary the fact that I have to explain this to you is embarrassing!

LMAO if you and others in Oakland think that is how the world works with new stadiums, then you might as well kiss the Raiders goodbye once again. The Viqueens are only paying just under 50% of the cost of their new $975 million dollar stadium. Broncos only paid about 32% of their stadium costs. Colts only about 14% of their stadium costs. Cards only about 33%.
So look for Oakland to have to pony up about 50-70% of the stadium costs….or the Raiders will be on the move.
===========================================
It is not like the City of Minneapolis paid for the other $600mm. That was paid for by a sales tax raise for the entire citizens of the State of Minnesota amongst other things. If you think that is going to happen in California, you are high. And I mean Rick James high. So, therefor the Raiders only chance of moving would be to Minnesota. Then we could have the Minneapolis Vikings and the St. Paul Raiders.
++++++++++++++++++++++
Well, since no billionaires are going to build an LA-type stadium in Oakland, and the Cali taxpayers are not going to help Oakland pay for a stadium, then you are conceding that the Raiders are as good as gone?
—————-
Possibly they could be gone. I dunno. I just think its a ludicrous system to ask for the tax payer to pay for a stadium that isnt really necessary.
If the Raiders want sell outs, just win baby.
If the Raiders want to profit from a new stadium, build it themselves.
It’s a principle thing. Nothing more.
If the Davis family wants us to share the burden for their stadium, they should share their profits. Which we know will never happen.
The fact is, a new stadium would be nice, but it is far from necessary. A $70 seat is a $70 seat whether a new or old stadium. And just because the stadium is new doesnt guarantee more sell outs/profits in the long run. Winning and stability = sellouts = profits. It’s quite simple.
They need to show some commitment to us. We’ve been more than gracious to them. I’ve bought more than my fair share of tickets to games where our team didnt show up.
If LA has a billionaire group that will privately fund a stadium build, that will be hard to compete with. If Oakland goes and co–finances a stadium to keep the Raiders in town, that is bad business if you ask me. Take that money and go rebuild some local businesses and schools. The Raiders are a private business within the NFL. The NFL should be footing the bill.
If the NFL and the Raiders think it will be wise to jump ship to a already proven poor fan base in LA, they got a rude awakening coming. If the same crap product is on the field in LA, then you will see even less fans in the stands. And its not like the Raiders will be more profitable. Revenue sharing prevents the Raiders from truly capitalizing on any media contract with the LA market.
So what is there to gain? A half empty but new stadium that Mark Davis doesnt have to pay for? A twice torn up fan base?
Why not commit to Oakland for a change Mark. Sign a long term deal. Put a winner on the field. And get the financing yourself (use the Raiders and Al’s vast property holdings as leverage) and build your own damn stadium if you think it is so economically viable.
If its not viable, then stick with what you got. A 65k seat stadium that will sell out plenty and make Mark money if he puts a winner on the field.

If its not viable for Mark to build the stadium, why would it be viable for anyone else?

I say screw the sh!tty Sacramento Kings and build a football stadium in Sac and have the Raiders move there!

Threatening to go back to LA every 6 months is not the type of environment that fosters support for the community. This org had a waiting lidt 10 years long for tickets before the first move to LA. It’s up to them to regain our trust.
It certainly isnt the communities job to foot the bill for a new stadium.

Amen! If all of these small to medium size cities can come up with revenue to help fund these teams, I don’t see why the city of Oakland can’t come up with some of the money. If they think they are going to keep the Raiders in an old football/baseball stadium they are fooling themselves and the fans. Poor Management!!!.
