No blackout _ Raiders-Jags on TV locally
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Friday, October 19th, 2012 at 2:38 pm in Oakland Raiders.
The Raiders announced Friday their game against the Jacksonville Jaguars will be televised locally.
The game will be carried on CBS (Channel 5), at 1:25 p.m. with play-by-play announcer Ian Eagle and analyst Dan Fouts.
The club requested a one-day extension to sell enough tickets to avoid their first blackout since Dec. 26, 2010. The Jacksonville game will be the 11th consecutive game televised locally.

Joe Barksdale is expected to be the Rams’ starting left tackle in Week 7 against the Packers.
That sound you hear is Clay Matthews licking his chops. Barksdale, a heavy-legged waist bender out of LSU, will take the place of injured LT Wayne Hunter (back). The fact that St. Louis’ offense has been remotely functional at all this season is a credit to the coaching staff considering the sorry state of this offensive line. They have Barry Richardson at right tackle, lost C Scott Wells and LT Rodger Saffold, and start Rob Turner at left guard.
October 19th, 2012 at 2:55 pm
Although OC Greg Knapp is still married to his zone-blocking scheme, he added a mix of one-back power runs during the Raiders’ bye week.
“We did some more one-back power and we emphasized, instead of wide zone, we did some tight zone as change ups,” Knapp said. “But it was still a pretty good mix of both in (32) rushes.” Darren McFadden’s two longest runs were called back on holding penalties, and NFL Films analyst Greg Cosell noticed the Raiders ground attack finally “started to show signs of life as a sustaining element” at Atlanta. McFadden has perhaps the league’s softest run defense schedule the rest of the way.
October 19th, 2012 at 3:03 pm
Raiders should win 9 of the remaining games on our schedule.
Next three must wins.

What happened in the second half of that game is something I have been trying to explain to mistic all year. Fangio put his best defender, navarro Bowman as a spy. Once Russell Wilson was not allowed to make plays with his legs, and they forced him to stand there and make all the throws he couldn’t. In fact, he didn’t look like a pro quality Q in the second half of that game.

Mia is also one of the worst teams in the league with a rookie QB no less with garbage wideouts (except for the bay boy Dbess) and garbage corners. the game plan was pretty simple stop the run and make the rookie beat you, we failed at both.

If the OL steps up a notch this Sunday, I will be pleased.
I like the ZBS and I think most NFL teams use certain forms of it.
The days of relying on man blocking are long gone, with the various defensive fronts that teams employ the OL has to evolve.
I just don’t know if our guys are up to the task.

970K this year, 4 millie 2013, 5.6 2014, 2.6 2015
Really not a major issue, none of it is guaranteed so he is a prime candidate, if the team wants to keep him, to “restructure” and give some cap flexibility.
I believe if we cut him this offseason, his prorated bonus counts against our cap ni 2013, so no real gains in cap space if we cut him until 2014.

Exactly bri. As I harshly criticized Jackson, I am going to harshly criticize Allen. What Allen promised us was week by week improvement. Honestly, if this team improves week to week we will be fine. Coming out of the gate I thought the team looked improved. The next three weeks we didn’t see improvement. At all! None. And that was what Allen promised us. Allen has to be held accountable for that. Now, last week, we saw some pretty major improvement. Let’s build on that. If we build on that, again, this team will be fine come December.

That was a helluva call when Palmer went deep to D Moore outta the end zone.
Bad call to stretch run in 3rd down at the goaline, but if Myers catches the pass on 2nd down, are we even talking about Knapp?
Knapp called the plays on that game tying TD drive. The key was the players executing.

GG Says:
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
That’s true there GG. Jags have the 30th defense against the run and I’m expecting good things from McFadden this week and on after that.

Living in San Diego is pure entertainment right now. Charger fans are calling for heads and jumping off of bridges. A lot are even conceding to the fact that their season is tanked. They are even going after their golden boy Rivers. I’ve even heard a few say “watch, we are going to tank and the Raiders are going to take the division or wild card.” Even AJ came out publicly swinging and the PR staff just wrote a blog post saying to take it easy on the team and “take a chill pill.” Which blew up in their face making it sound like the team is a bunch of sensitive babies.
I love seeing that place in disarray. The drive into work is always entertainment on the radio.

– Allen and offensive coordinator Greg Knapp raved about the way quarterback Carson Palmer accepted blame for the Raiders loss to the Falcons.
They say that is yet another glaring example of the kind of leader Palmer is, how he is slow to accept credit and eager to handle the blame.
“That’s the type of quarterback you want; a guy that’s going to step up and take responsibility and not look to pass the buck on anybody else,” Allen said. “Carson has played extremely well for us. He’s a stand-up guy, and that’s one of the reasons that I’m glad he’s our quarterback.”
For all of you Palmer haters!
October 19th, 2012 at 7:26 pm
If most fans think that officials are showing bias against them, then apparently coaching staff think so too. Just saw this quote from Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho.
“Ronaldo is protected by nothing and no-one. His opponents see that he has the body of an animal and they give him a kicking, and they only get a yellow card if they give him a proper kicking.
That’s not true for Messi. If you foul him you get booked straight away, and then you can’t foul him again or you’ll be sent off.”

In years past that wouldve been game over for us. He threw it then proceeded to march us right back up the field for the score. I consider most Raider fans as ‘brothers’. Bad call to stretch run in 3rd down at the goaline, but if Myers catches the pass on 2nd down, are we even talking about Knapp?
Knapp called the plays on that game tying TD drive. The key was the players executing.
=================================================
So the stretch left at the GL that was stuffed for a 2 yard loss was just a ‘bad’ call, huh ?
Sigh.
‘Bad’ doesn’t adequately describe that call. Off the charts horrible is more accurate.
Look, it ALWAYS comes down to players executing.
The key is knowing what plays your personnel are adept at executing. The key is calling something that actually has a chance of being executed and succeeding.
Especially at Atlanta’s GL.
We’ve seen that same run repeatedly FAIL. At our own GL, the rest of the field, and most miserably – at the opposition GL. Failed in the pre-season and all through the regular season.
That might be enough of a hint for another OC – that we have a problem executing that play. Especially at the opposition’s goal line.
Not enough of a hint for KRAPP though.
Result ? Same old schit call. Same old schit result.
Same old FG. -4 POINT swing. Momentum killer. Difference between winning and losing.
Just a ‘bad’ call, my ass.
Horrific call that played a large part in LOSING the game.
KRAPP SUX. KRAPP is a complete clusterphuck. TITS can’t pull the plug on Krapp soon enough.
EXECUTION ? IN KRAPP’S CASE – I’M ALL FOR IT !!

True, they are beatable, too many injuries on defense. And after that the Saints, if dmac is on by then, we could see a career day against their swiss cheese D, man, 6-4 after the Saints game, that would be awesome.

>>>
I am not looking at him as a savior at all… but I agree. we need to stop this rookie HC or recycled has-been merry-go-round.
Allen needs three years as HC to prove himself.
The rookie mistakes that Hue was making last year are now rookie mistakes DA is making. Just new ones.
Like not having a backup long-snapper up to speed (cost us a win) or not having the end of game prevent up to speed (cost us another game.)
These things get fixed.

That is how you know a player is engaged when he owns up. If that player owns up publicly then is able to improve, his team mates will follow his lead.///////////////////When carson play fakes dmac off tackle, (carson is really really good with drop back play action, the defense cant out for the run because carson is still a threat to throw, this is not the case on the wide stretch. carson rarely keeps on the wide stretch, and hasnt been particularly featured in boot legs and roll outs, because tht is not his game. carson is far better when he is on a straight line drop back and can step up into the pocket on that same line.

That was a good piece of credit, admittedly. To bad the OC doesn’t see things (second piece of credit) the way some fans do. OC is ruining CP3 and Dmac, let alone taking Moore outta the picture, and under using Reece, who btw, would probably be effective on a good soft screen or bubble screen.

The thing I fear about the Jags game, we played well vs Falcons and can tend to play bad the following week we play good. So, fearing how Gabbert will have a career-day, and Blackmon will finally make his NFL mark this game. The media focus on these two things all week.
October 19th, 2012 at 9:51 pm
I don’t fear anything about this game.
Jags are one of the worst football teams EVER.
They have the 32 ranked offense, average as many points as the Tom Walsh offense, have no heart, awful special teams, turn it over a ton, and have a bottom of the barrell run defense.
This is a team we should be able to beat, with 10 guys on the field half the time.
