I’m not happy with Knapp, either. But no respectable organization throws out its OC at the behest of a veteran retread QB. Breaks protocol. Bad for morale. Would put the other coaches on edge. New Raiders’ management does not do that.

-------------------

øk, lets project 6-10 (wins coming v. KC, Cleveland, San Diego and a upset special against somebody, maybe Arizona gives us the 18th pick overall (1st)

that puts us at pick 8, 9 or 10 in this VERY early projection for 2013

lets project us going on defense (David Amerson, CB, N.Carolina St. or pass rusher Jarvis Jones)

we give up the 2nd to Cincinnati for Palmer

we take E.J. Manuel with the 3rd or again with defense (Michael Mauti, ILB, Penn St)
or S Tony Jefferson, Oklahoma

we give up a conditional mid round pick in the Curry trade (so that means we either have a fifth or a fourth

we'll need a tackle as Seymour will move on so thats Anthony Rashad-White of Michigan or Cory Grissom in the fifth

i go as far as Braden Hughes of BYU at OG then another DT Montori Hughes with the later picks.

lets throw out DMC - he's in a contract year , so some team that is "close" will take a flyer on him for a low first - lets say RB Marcus Lattimore.

Our QB is Terrelle Pryor, we take a backup QB off the heap, possibly Shaun Hill or Tavaris Jackson

so thats

1 Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia or Dee Millner, CB, Alabama
1 Marcus Lattimore, RB, S.Carolina or Demonte Moore Tex A&M
2 to Cincinnati
3 Michael Mauti, ILB, Penn St. or Chase Thomas, OLB, Stanford
4 to Seattle
5 Anthony Rashad-White, DT, Michigan St.
6 Braden Hughes, OG, BYU
7 Melvin White, CB, Louisiana-Lafayette

FA
CB Sam Shields or Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie
DT Dwan Edwards or Sedrick Ellis
OT Ryan Clady
QB Shaun Hill

Sam, Palmer has had some good games, and will have more. But he’s mistake prone. Bad in the clutch. Just doesn’t have that “it” factor. He will never win a Super Bowl. We both know that. At some point we have to address the future of the QB position. Carson isn’t it. The goal is to win a Super Bowl. Carson Palmer does not fit into that goal, except maybe as a backup.

===================
OK, i get that. So lets say we move on from Palmer. Is the viable replacement even in this draft - Barkley? Geno Smith (who regressed of late, particularly v. K-State).

I think there is a paralysis on developing a QB, do we roll the dice with T-Pryor, and take our losses until the 2014 draft? EJ Manuel? Zac Dysert? (who also has a rather high INT total, but a bunch of yards - he is on track to break Rothelisberger's school records).

Although we would be changing the direction YET AGAIN - I understand the moment has come that we may have to consider alternatives, since the new GM and coach inherited the QB from the last regime.

I understand all your points and begrudgingly agree, but maybe Palmer turns the corner....it is the age of the QB, and have already missed the next wave (Wilson-Luck-RGIII-Weeden-Ponder)

Sigh. Yet another piece to build, but things look headed in that direction, sadly.

Smith has 25 td and zero ints and is completing more than 70% of his passes.

What does any of these excuses have to do with his ability to catch a ball thrown 5 yards in the air?

I swear he has transformed into a RB with below average hands.

who is the next RGIII? well it isnt geno smith, smith is very athletic but he dioes not have the spped of RGIII. where they compare is deadly accuracy operating form the pistol, and being very smart with the football. Smith has 25 td and zero ints and is completing more than 70% of his passes. he is nimble in the pocket but is more of a jc , rich gannon type that can pick up a 3rd and 7, but he wont bust a 50 yard td.

He is the best qb in his class though by far and I would be happy if we were able to get our hands on him if tp 6 is deemed not to be the answer.

Actually the players that i think are most like rgIII would be senior ej manual, and sophmore (my absolute fav) TEDDY BRIDGEWATER louisville.

This kid reminds me very much of rgIII and had he chosen a big florida school you would already know of him.

Same old story though, how did he end up at loiusville? Well Miami fsu and florida recruited him but would not let him compete at the only position he has ever played....QUARTER BACK.

Thank god for charlie strong and loiusville otherwise we would be robbed of watching one of the best qb prospects in college regardless of graduation class.

Find out about him
