Mike Brown will need some time to put this all together.

He’s faced with the task of trying to blend a number of different personalities into a working basketball program.

Success will not come immediately i’m afraid.

This will be a “building” yr. for the Lakers. They’ll need at least two seasons before they start to gel as a team.

Mike Brown is a superior coaching mind. He realizes that patience is what is needed with a squad like this.

I think they’ll make the playoffs as a 6th seed this yr. with an early 1st round exit.

Next yr. they may advance into the 2nd or 3rd rd. and by year 3 look for a deep run with a loss in the conf. finals most likely.

Year 4 will see the Lakers in the finals again with yr. 5 a realistic opportunity to lift the championship trophy once again.

Reggie is weaving a quilt. And similar to a seasoned artisan he will take his time honing his craft and weaving a winner.

Right now, he is still preparing for his entrance into the fabric store to shop for his patterns and fabric.

He will eliminate more bad contracts and slowly, painstakingly weave his quilt.

Reggie is no rush and neither should we be. Building a winner takes years and years of patience is the quilt is weaved one painfully crafted seam at a time.

We must do this is slowly as possible. To try and build a winner too quickly is foolishness. We must wait patiently to see this develop into what may one day result in a measure of success.

“Ten and then” means 10 yr’s. till we see some measurable growth…and then….we wait patiently as Reggie weaves his quilt…

I may have been optimistic in looking to yr. 17 of his tenure as being one we could reasonably look to for a SB championship…it most likely will take much longer than that.

Patience my friends…the quilt will be weaved…but it will be weaved slowly and painfully until one day we may be able to look back and say…it was all worth it while we admire the superior craftsmanship of championship fabric.

  • mcfadden20.

Lakers haters are as bad as some people in here, freaking celebrating season opener loss like we just got eliminated from the playoffs or something lol

Are u a writer for “Country Quilts” magazine or something?

No disrespect intended toward Reggie but judging by his current physique and his age i would not bet money that he will be alive long enought to “weave his quilt” of success by your timeline.

I picture you sitting in a wheel chair looking out at a praire and watching grass grow while you whiddle away on a stick or something….probably been working on this project for 20 yr’s now and hoping one day it will be honed into a great piece of art.

I mean that in the friendliest way.

This quilt will be weaved with superior fabric. It will take much time to weave it to precise configurations.

Whether Reggie is around to see the culmination of his handiwork is immaterial.

His legacy will be the fine foundation he has weaved for the long term success of the franchise.

Give him 10 years to start to see some progress. And then…who knows. The playoffs may not be that far from that.

  • RaiderLen

    What? The Lakers lost. Hahahaha.

    DeeeWhite Howard and all?

Lakers are a bunch of selfish mofo’s, they might be able to pull it together, but I doubt it.

Wonder if Deeewhite will pitch a hissy fit in the next 6 months.

    Over / under anyone?

could wake up tomorrow with DMC traded to another team. maybe for a 2nd rounder? its a passing league now and with Goodson, reese and jones seems like the Raiders would be good with DMC. DMC for a 2nd rounder. thoughts?

  • manassamauler

    *without DMC

  • aig-raiders

DMC is too much of a playmaker to be given away for a 2nd round. Must find a way to make it work with him.

  • sirblitzalot

One thing about our last two HC’s is that they were both INCONSISTENT. Neither one could string 4 wins in a row. If DA is able to pull that off with TB and NO, then you haters better tip your hat and climb on to the back of the wagon!

I will say this, TB are playing like wild animals. They are being coached. Their is a tacit understanding that team. They have bounty hunter mentality and the #1 and #2 targets are CP and Dmac.

The Raiders better come into this game with a “war” type mentality or they will be slapped around like the very respectable Minn Vikings. This game is less winable than N.O.

Goody and Jonesy are hurt, so I’ll pass

  • papertiger418

I don’t know how I feel about this Goodson injury; I think he plays well but also benefits from defenses relaxing a bit when he’s on the field.

That being said, Goodson provides a nice change of pace, and if Taiwan is still injured/in the doghouse then we need MARCEL REECE to step up! This might be a blessing in disguise, just what we need to get 45 involved in the offense.

Was most of that Howard…I didn’t see the game!

  • boss01

For all you Laker haters out there…we will see how horrendous they are in March when they are clicking on all cylinders and will be in line to get the no.2 seed minimum in spite of the worst head coach the Lakers have had since Randy Pfund.

  • boss01

Chuck Person should be fired today. He’s made Dwight Howard from an abysmal FT shooter to historically bad.

  • J Hill

    I didn’t see the game!

I didn’t see much of it.

But those were Howard’s FT #s.

You conveniently left out Dwight Howard from that list who is 26 and best big man in the game. The Lakers will run roughshot on the entire league by March…book it.

  • DJ Johnny

Another good thing that came out of the KC game is Rich Gannon having to eat his words about the AFC West being a “3 horse race” (which excluded Oakland).

I remember him saying “Anybody can win the AFC West; the Broncos, Chargers OR the Chiefs”…as if Oakland did not even exist.

So I hope he enjoyed the Raiders beating his beloved Chiefs on Sunday and basically eliminating them.

Unreal. Only mike brown can make Howard and Nash irrelevant in an offense

According to CBSSports, they ran 26 pick and rolls out of 105 possessions. With Nash on the team! LMAO WOW

  • boss01

Mike Brown must be related to Greg Knapp somehow, I think they are 11th cousins.
