McFadden, Goodson, Seymour not practicing

By Steve Corkran
Thursday, November 8th, 2012 at 11:53 am in Oakland Raiders.

As expected, running backs Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson, as well as defensive tackle Richard Seymour, are not practicing today. That makes it more likely that they won’t be available for the Baltimore Ravens game.
Coach Dennis Allen has not rueld out any of the aforementioned trio. He said he won’t make any definitive statements along those lines until Friday, at the earliest.
Still, this has the look of second-year running back Taiwan Jones getting his first extensive action since he arrived via the NFL draft last season.
Jones has touched the ball on offense two times this season. He was part of a botched reverse in the regular-season opener on a play that resulted in a 25-yard loss after fullback Marcel Reece’s pitch was mishandled by Jones. In fairness, Reece’s exhange wasn’t very smooth.
Jones rushed once for 2 yards late in the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Sunday. Beyond that, Jones returned one kick for 6 yards against the Chargers in the opener and caught a pass for 4 yards on a fake punt against the Buccaneers.
Jones rushed for 73 yards on 16 carries last season, when he was behind McFadden and Michael Bush.

– Linebaacker Aaron Curry and cornerback Ron Bartell look at full strength in practice today. Curry was activated to the 53-man roster Tuesday. Bartell can be activated Saturday.
As for now, it appears as if Bartell will be activated and play Sunday. He missed the past seven games while recovering from a shoulder injury suffered in the opener.
It looks as if Bartell will play right cornerback, with Michael Huff remaining at the left cornerbacak spot. If so, Joselio Hanson likely will remain in the slot on passing downs, with Pat Lee and Phillip Adams seeing reduced snaps.
Cornerback Shawntae Spencer is the only other player unable to practice today. Therefore, it looks as if he is in line to miss his seventh straight game. He hurt his foot against the Miami Dolphins on Sept. 16 and hasn’t practiced or played in a game since that day.

– Allen still hasn’t tipped his hand on whether he intends to start Willie Smith, Khalif Barnes or rookie Tony Bergstrom at right offensive tackle Sunday.
Smith has started the past six games there in relief of the injured Barnes. However, Barnes returned to practice Wednesday, and he looks ready to go.

I’m trying to make a point here , which your shallow mind won’t accept, It takes a while to get the ZBS going , They’re a unstoppable force with ZBS the past 2 years, If you can beat Ravens with ur 3rd string qb and back up running back , then you got a good O, now fuk and leave the football talk to people who understand it

Unstoppable force? Show me the playoff wins. You cant.Zoneblocking sucks and so does waiting for it to come around.Do you understnad that football genious?

The Boots have drafted for defense for over 6 years now. That has been their long and short term plan = stop peyton manning or they will never win the division

They have spent and drafted Offense much less over the years. Somehow that O has turned out to be great.

ZBS is best for Oakland in the long run. If we were a larger market, made more money then go for PBS

Historically you can go back and find guys that came in for struggling players and never came out. Tony Romo comes to mind. Romo was undrafted didn’t see a lot of playing time and probably never would have been an NFL player if Quincy Carter didn’t hit the rock pipe. The Cowboys brought in Bledsoe, he struggled, so they put Romo in the second half of a MNF game, I think, and he has played very well for them. But that ain’t happening here.

  • RAIDERMAN99

Think it’s time for some mid-term grading of our 2012 Oakland Raiders. Too time consuming to go into individual player grading – but let’s try for an overview, shall we ?

    OVERALL GRADE: D
The 3-5 record might not be much of a surprise, but fans of the team have to be disappointed in the performance nonetheless.

The 0-2 start within the division served to dash our hopes very early, and the complete disappearance of any semblance of a running game has been a huge disappointment. Playoff hopes are extremely unrealistic, but more importantly, 2012 doesn’t appear to have the makings of a season to build upon.

    COACHING: D-
Tits Allen is off to a less than auspicious start. The Krapp hiring was an early warning sign, and this staff appears to be in over it’s head. Quick to make changes to existing schemes that were working – slow to make changes and adjustments to strategies that aren’t. Questionable use of making the most of the roster available or maximizing player production. The reduction in penalties and Tarver’s revamping of the defensive scheme whilst scrambling to overcome a depleted secondary is all that prevents me from giving the coaching staff an F.

I’m extremely disappointed with what I’ve seen so far. It’s not just the record or the slow start. I need to see evidence this team is moving in the right direction in the second half of 2012. Frankly, I’m not optimistic about that happening.

Do not see this squad winning more than 5 games.

Seems like we were just eagerly awaiting the start of the 2012 season and now it’s half way done. Time passes quickly, as does life, gentlemen.

of course, over history, there have been qb’s who replaced other qb’s. u said it was COMMON for teams with losing records at the end of the year to sit down veterans and see what their young players have. like they do in baseball. i just showed u that it happened ONCE last year, and it happened midseason (ponder).

it is NOT COMMON to sit down veteran starting qb’s who are in the plans for the future to see what the 3rd stringer is made of. that’s what preseason is for.

u are simply WRONG and won’t admit it.

name other positions on the field that this COMMON practice happens!

    u can’t do it can u?

there is simply NO WAY that the raiders will sit down a qb that is on a record setting pace, in order to give the 3rd stringer, who has dubious nfl qb abilities, a chance to prove himself.

    JUST ADMIT UR WRONG.

Not to be insensitive but just curious.

If this were Dennis Allen (1st yr. coach just like Pagano) and he had a dreaded disease, would the national media coverage even come close? Would Jaworski wear a “DennisStrong” t-shirt on national tv?

Would anybody besides us really even care?

I wish Pagano the best and a full recovery, (even tho i’ve always disliked the guy for his anti-Raider comments) so that’s not my point in asking this.
