Son of Raiders D-line coach dies at age 4

Tyson Williams, the 4-year-old son of Raiders defensive line coach Terrell Williams, died Friday night at Oakland Children’s Hospital from a “sudden and unexpected illness,” according to a team release.
“We were all shocked by the news we received when we arrived in Baltimore,” Raiders coach Dennis Allen said in a statement. “Terrell and Tifini have been dealing with unimagineable tragedy this week, and our hearts go out to them. We’re all deeply saddened by the passing of Tyson, and our deepest sympathies go out to Terrell and his entire family.”

Tyson Williams, born Nov. 1, 2008, loved cartoons and helping care for his eight-month-old brother, Tahj, teaching his brother to clap before he passed away, according to the release.

Allen said the defensive staff would share the workload in Terrell Williams’ indefinite absence.

The team requests that condolences be sent to Williams at team headquarters at 1220 Harbor Bay Parkway, Alameda, CA, 94502.

the Department of Justice Statistics Bureau, reveals that approximately 8,000 – 9,000 African Americans are murdered annually in the United States:

This chilling figure is accompanied by another equally sobering fact, that 93% of these murders are in fact perpetrated by other blacks. ===== BEST NEWS OF THE DAY !!!

    From Vic Tafur.
Pro Football Focus had Lee “giving up a reception once every 12.3 snaps in coverage. While those numbers aren’t too bad, the one concerning aspect of his game has been the 126 yards after the catch he has allowed, not helped by the fact that he has missed six tackles.”
Gotta wonder if there is not something more than meets the eye here. Lee did not play well against the Bucs, but no one on defense did.

We can win people, we can win. Raiders can go into Baltimore and beat the lowly Ravens. Who knows, Ravens may think they got this one in the bag, so with another week of bye team, bye team, long rest team, and now the easy coast thing, we can do it. Yes sir people, Raiders can do it. Just do it Baby!

I still don’t understand why the league hasn’t adjusted the East/West thing. I know it shouldn’t make that much of a difference

    ***********************************

Last season, West coast teams had a winning record in the 10am games (49ers were 4-0 I believe) and East Coast teams had a losing record playing the 1pm games on the West Coast.

It is only a excuse for those prone to make excuses.

Lee did miss a lot of tackles in the run game.

I believe he was victim on the Reggie Bush ping-pong run and missed two tackles last week that allowed 30 yard runs to turn into 50+ yard runs.

The same week we slept walked through an early start in Miami, the Cardinals went into New England and beat the Pats.

Raiders are 0-2 so far in the 10am games, rest of the West Coast teams are 5-4 combined.

49ers 2-0 this year, won their last 6 10am East Coast games over the last two years.

Is that why the league issued a statement that it is a problem and they are looking to start as many west to east games as possible later in the future.

    Go Raiders.

Raiders should use this as inspiration and come out and win this one for the coach. Specially the defense.

  • DJ Johnny

No prob Carl. Just be careful not to click on everything that pops up.

What angers me about our defense is i thought those big plays we’ve seen the last couple yr’s were gonna be a thing of the past.

Just when the media starts talking about how we have elevated our defense to “competant” we have what happened last wk.

I will go out on a limb and say Martin doesn’t have another game this yr. like he did last week.

Reggie Bush mysteriously stopped being a world beater after we left town too.

I don’t like that we have gone backwards on d. Especially since DA is a ‘defensive minded” HC who vowed we would “get better” each week.

    Disappointed.

  • DJ Johnny

Funny that the “dream team” at Philly went 8-8 last yr. (just like us) and is 3-5 THIS yr. (just like us).

    What does that say?

They have all the talent in the world, yet here they are.

It almost looks like Vick is the culprit.

    It shows talent isn’t everything.

  • lefty12

Put Palmer at QB for Philly and they lead the NFC East.Vick is over-rated.Always has been.

  • MiamiRaider78

Combined with Vick being an overrated QB, his o-line isn’t helping his cause.

  • RaiderIN.260

So sorry for your loss Coach…having a grandson close to that age now,man i just cant imagine

  • lefty12

I believe 3 or 4 of their starting Olinemen are out due to injury. But what it shows is you are better off grooming your own talent than going out and trying to build your team with FAs.It didn’t work for us and it isn’t working for them.

  • MiamiRaider78

I miss Wylie like some on here do Pedicure Hue.

It is nice watching a real QB play for CAL instead of that bum Maynard. That is one of Tedford’s faults. He sticks with players that don’t deserve it too long.

    Vic Tafur again.
^ From Pro Football Focus: The Raiders’ offensive line has allowed 91 pressures from 348 passing plays giving them a Pass Blocking Efficiency (PBE) Rating of 79.8, which ranks 19th in the league. Of those 91 pressures allowed, 31 alone have come against right tackle Willie Smith, who starts again for injured Khalif Barnes.

^ As a result, Carson Palmer doesn’t have a lot of time to throw, and that’s why there has been a lot of dinking and dunking. He has the second-worst completion percentage (31.9) on throws 15 yards or more downfield this season with the second-fewest touchdowns (1).

  • Purvisman/Intrepid/ Full Disclosure

Those are some bad numbers. I’m thrilled we got Palmer but disappointed we can’t do him justice.

  • Kirk

Hopefully all the losing will lead to the firing of Greg Knapp.

  • sirblitzalot

Oh no. There are no words that can express the pain you and your family must be expressing. You have my deepest felt sympathy.

  • sirblitzalot

If the defense goes after the ankles instead of the ball tomorrow we may be able to keep this close! If Palmer throws another clutch interception in the 4th quarter then that will confirm who he is: Charlie Brown. Mmwa..mmwa mmwa… If CP can pull this out of the fire he can re-define himself.

  • Priesttj12

This is my biggest concern about Palmer and the reason you cannot mention him with the better QB’s in the league he just throws too many back breaking int’s.

He has got to cut back on his t/o’s if we’re going to get to the next level. The defense has played well enough all year to be 6-2 but we’re 3-5 because of t/o’s late in games. You just can’t do it……………..period

  • MiamiRaider78

It doesn’t help that the run game is non existent and you have to depend on the QB attempting a ridiculous amount of passes.

  • Priesttj12

Great QB’s might do that once or twice at the most in a season Palmer wil do it twice in one game. You have to manage the game better than that. You have to understand the importance of of that time in the game and be protective of the ball unless you oly have one shot at it and the game is over. Then it doesn’t matter you do what you have to do.

He takes risky chances with the football when the game is on the line. You just have to be better than that……….period

  • Priesttj12

But that is when the Playcaller and the QB have to use better judgement. Call plays that help him out and when you do he has to be sure it’s high percentage plays. No one can gaurantee you wont turn it over. It’s just taht Palmer has been very loose with the football late in games and it has to stop if we want to win.

Our defense allowed 30+ points 4/8 games and we allowed 28.6 points/ game.

When I first heard that Lee was the one cut to make room for Bartell’s return, I was surprised at first too. Then I thought about what kind of defense DA wants.

As painful as it is for me to admit, he wants a defense like the one across the bay. The reason the Whiners defense is so good is because every clown on that side of the ball makes tackles with super consistency. Especially so in the running game, which frustrates other teams and puts them into pass only mode. Their secondary is pretty mediocre at coverage, but they can all tackle too. So they keep guys in front of them and only allow short completions without any run after catch. Once they have a lead they get a little more gambly when they have teams in pass only situations.

Spencer is a great example. The guy was easily the best tackling CB on the roster. The run defense was a lot better with him in there containing the corner. Couldn’t cover very well though and was quickly exposed in the passing game.

Pat Lee was the opposite. More of a natural cover corner that didn’t have the nose for tackling. He’d make some of the tackles that ran his way, but he also missed a few. More than that (if you go watch some tape) you’ll see he is very easily blocked out of plays, so doesn’t show up on the stat sheet with either a tackle of a miss.

I think DA wants secondary that are tackling beasts; that are hard nosed machines looking to blow up running plays at the line of scrimmage; that aggressively play the flats and go ballistic breaking up screens before they get going. Lee wasn’t that flavor (whereas Bartell and Spencer are, and Huff as a safety better be!) so he’s keeping the guys that can tackle as special teams as well as backups.

It’s a very different paradigm for us Raiders fans to think of corners that are there for tackling first, coverage second, given the long history of amazing cover guys in Silver and Black. It’s going to take some getting used to for sure.

  • Priesttj12

But the point is we could’ve won those games anyway. Yes the defense had some stinkers but the TB game was winnable. Protect the football and we win. The ATL game same thing winnable. That’s a 5-3 record right there. He has to get better with his decision making late in games that’s how great QB’s make their teams better. I know only a few can do it but that is the difference between good and great……simple as that.

  • http://www.raiders.com Raider O

    This team is a mess.
    Can’t block
    Can’t run
Struggles to score (19th in scoring)
    Can’t rush the passer
Allowed a rookie to run for 250 yards
    Allows 28.6 points/ game

Palmer is one of the few bright spots on this team.
