Final: Ravens 55, Raiders 20

The Raiders went beyond mere defeat Sunday with a loss of historical proportions.
Scoring nearly every way possible, the Baltimore Ravens beat the Raiders 55-20 before 71,339 fans at M&T Bank Stadium, most of whom were enjoying it so much they were still around to see their team score the most points in its history.
On the other end, when Jacoby Jones raced 105 yards with a kickoff return for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter, it tied the record for the most points ever given up by a Raiders team.
It’s the first real crisis of the Dennis Allen regime, with the Raiders having given up 97 points in back-to-back games.
You have go back to the pre-Al Davis era of 1961, when the Raiders gave up 99 points in their first two games of the season, to find eight quarters of football where they gave up more points.
The Ravens, 7-2, won their 15th straight home game with quarterback Joe Flacco completing 21 of 33 passes for 341 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Flacco also scored on a 1-yard run before giving way to backup Tyrod Taylor with 7:31 remaining.
Flacco threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to tight end Dennis Pitta and had scoring strikes of 47 and 20 yards to Torrey Smith.
The Raiders, 3-6 and with resurgent New Orleans coming into town with quarterback Drew Brees, were little more than idle bystanders as the Ravens piled it on.
The ultimate indignity came before the Jones kickoff return, when holder Sam Koch ran 7 yards for a touchdown on a fake field goal attempt to make it 48-17.
The last real spark for the Raiders came with 1:37 left in the first half when quarterback Carson Palmer hit Darrius Heyward-Bey with a 55-yard touchdown pass to close within 20-10.
Heyward-Bey bounced off a tackle attempt by future Hall of Fame safety Ed Reed and then ran the remaining 35 yards for the score as Oakland scored within the final two minutes of the first half for the ninth straight game.
The Raiders defense, however, gave it right back.
Flacco completed five of six passes for 73 yards and set up a 7-yard touchdown run by Ray Rice with 24 seconds left and a 27-10 Ravens lead.

Palmer had one other touchdown pass, a 30-yard strike to Denarius Moore on the Raiders first series of the second half. He finished 29 of 45 for 368 yards, but also had an interception and a lost fumble.
Rather than play Palmer to the bitter end, as Allen did earlier this season in a one-sided loss to Denver, Matt Leinart came in to play with 5:59 to play.
It was Oakland’s sixth straight defeat in an Eastern time zone and 11th in the last 13 cross-country games.

I sincerely hope that after the game, DA excuses Carson, Reece, Myers and the wideouts (as they were fine), then honestly and forthrightly tells the rest of the team that they were a complete embarrassment to not only every fan, but every player who’s ever worn this uniform. Today was a pathetic exhibition of a bunch of guys who don’t care about ANYTHING except cashing their checks. HOW DARE THEY perform this horribly?

Harp on Hue all you want, but the guy had us at 8-8 with one of the worst defensive coordinators of ALL time. The fact that he managed to overcome that ineptitude is stunning. So much potential coming into this year with him and a competent d-coordinator at the helm. And Reggie shot that all to crap.

This management and coaching staff is an embarrassment to the profession. I had sserious fears about this from day1 but I was hopeful because I knew one day we had to move on from Mr Davis but Reggie was more interested in changing the computer systems and carpet. Than finding out what kind of talent we had and who the was the best coach to take it to the next level.
He chose a guy who may eventually be a great coach, the problem is was he the best choice for this team. Choosing coaches is a tricky situation and this team needed a veteran savvy hard nosed coach the team had to respect. Not some rookie HC who’s more interested in hiring his friends than putting together a coaching staff that could make HIM LOOK GOOD with their veteran expertise. That is why you NEVER allow a rookie coach to hire his staff without making sure you help him understand what you as a GM think about each and every assistant. Because it’s something he’s never done before and you don’t wnat him learning life’s lessons at YOUR expense………….period

Not sure what everyone watched in Curry last year that made people so high on him coming into this year.
He was our worst defensive player not named LIto Sheppard last year.
Tons of mental mistakes, tons of ridiculously stupid penalties.
Remember the Denver game last year, on 3rd and 18 when Tebow was just jogging OOB 15 yards short of the sticks? Curry shoves him in the back OOB for a penalty. No awareness at all.

I think people made too big a deal about a blow out, but its obvious the injuries caught up and Baltimore has been too good for too long.

I realize Palmer is clearly our best QB and gives us the best chance to win. Leinart has experience, more suited for this offense, and also gives us a better opportunity to win each game.

Time to start the we want chucky chants at the home games!! Our coach sucks and is not ready to be a head coach he’s in over his head as for knapp he should be teaching high school ball. This game says it all about our team and coaching staff our players are outplayed in every aspect of the game. They need better preparation and heart!! Myself being from California I hate anything that comes out of Texas inluding our coach it’s almost like he’s trying to ruin our beloved raiders! Got to play the dline draft picks, Taiwan Jones & Pryor a lot between now & the end of the season. Draft the Dtackle from Utah & the Lousville QB next year. They need a speed rusher & three, yes, three new olinemen. Billy Turner, OT from North Dakota State will allow Veldheer to move to RT, where he will be a standout. And that’s just off the top of the head. They should have money to spend on FA’s next year as they prepare to move to LA. . .

Look there are a few players who should be gotten rid of but the coaches have mismanaged the roster, been hypocritical about accountability, there does seem to be an agenda against some players, terribly out coached and badly prepared. Reggie made some blunders himself with poor acquisitions, getting rid of talent scouts and hiring his twin out of nepotism like taking advantage of Mark Davis and the situation, and also as you say hiring a rookie coach and letting him hire his own staff. Knapp was the killer too, blowing up the strides made on offense last couple years.
So much wrong on the field is the end result of so much wrong at gm and hc and the coaching staff.

That’s what you get when offensive linemen are playing defensively – backing up and defending themselves. This is a sign of inadequate talent on the O-line. Offensive linemen should be either maintaining the LOS or pushing forward punching the opponent all the way causing them to keep their hands down to defend themselves. Oh wait, that’s power blocking. We use ZBS where you cut a guys knees and then hit the ground. Brisel & WSmith are total garbage. Brisel was a Knapp recommendation from the Texans. Let’s send him back & ask for a refund. Then, find a job for WSmith at the shoe locker. Send Knapp there too. He can be the manager & blow the whistle when a customer walks in.

We have a Carson Palmer and DMC along with several offensive weapons and we can’t use them worth crap. The defense is demoralized because they know the OC is garbage and it is that simple.

Really the CB’s played OK today. Get a pick, a few broken up passes, Bartell gave up a little but made a few plays to break up some passes.
But the safeties? It is bordering on a comedy routine. Guys running the wrong way, leaving guys WIDE OPEN by like 20 yards, pointing fingers after passes.
Just a disgrace.

The problem is not so much the players it’s the coaching and game planning and play calling. There are a few bad players but they’re not all al’s but most of Reggie’s. He’s played fantasy football like an armchair gm at times.

Simple! I thought all these GB castoffs were players he knew could play. Chekwa is still in their doghouse and I would dare say DVD is a better corner than most we have. I would take Routt over any of these bums even CJ for that matter we just needed to add to what we had. Get better but Reggie goes and gets all rejects leaves Chekwa off the roster. They wont even play Ausberry and he ignores TJ if they aren’t bias it’s very hard to convince me because it certainly looks that way.

I’ll say it once and I’ll say it again. Raiders should have never have made that Palmer trade wasnt worth it to a bad team. Palmer is not gonna take u over the hump no matter how good he is. To many holes.
Should have use that 1st traded out and got more picks. Picked up a young guy like Russell wilson who has 14tds on the year.. and rebuilt. Reggie and the scouts were in love with wilson at senior bowl.
Reggie should have also hired an expereinced head coach like Greg Shiano.. not some Portland State wannabe chump in D.A.

Knapp is too simple minded, sigle minded to mount a multi-demensional offensive program. Just look at how he uses his RBs or shall I say “RB” cause he can only think of how to use one RB per game (and how he uses him aint even good).
It was a pitful shame today how he kept running Reece, elevated a PS guy of TJ and only gave TJ a carry into the 3rd quarter of a blowout.

Last yaers team was much better on O, they were ok post Mcfadden injury but still much better than the current O at any point this season, if it wernt for 4 games last yaer BUFF,DEN,DET,SD, we would have been playoff team easy and may have had a bye. pretty simple stuff but you cats like to spin schit into your favor, and make schit sound so complicated.

Last year we were 8-8 and a game shy of the playoffs wit a top 10 offense and running game with these same players you Reggie bootlickers are calling skill less. The problem is you have a loser coach in da who doesnt bow how to coach talent and a gm forcing schemes on a team that doesnt fit his personnel. We were 8-8 last year the colts were way worse fired their coach and replaced their gm just like us and yet theyre better than us… why? Are D talent isnt the greatest but its better than 97 points over 2 games (setting records in both) coaches put their players in positions to win and our coaches have sucked ass in that regaard. I would have a hard time believeing someone like Marvin lewis or Bill belichek wouldnt be able to get more out of this unit.

Priest,I don’t totally absolve the coaches of all blame.They deserve a fair share.But we’ve had numerous coaches coaching the same core of players and have gotten the same results over and over.When will you put at least equal amount of the blame on them?

I know trade line has passed, but they can still make plans to trade in the offseason. Get whatever picks you can, and build this team from scratch. You have the vets at the spots you need, like QB and…. actually, I think that is pretty much it. Sure, Moore, DHB and the other WRs are showing flashes of being threats, but are no sure locks. On D, I could care less who we keep. We can have a whole new D squad for all I care next year.
Step 1B, hire some coaches and assistants that actually have a rep of success and discipline in the league. No more “TJ wh0re house surprise” type coaches, where you reach in and never know what you are going to get.
