The Raiders scored inside of two minutes for the ninth straight time, this time on a 55-yard touchdown pass from Carson Palmer to Darrius Heyward-Bey.
All it took for Baltimore to go 80 yards to negate that score was 1:13, with Ray Rice scoring on a 7-yard run for a 17-point halftime lead. Joe Flacco was 5-for-6 for 73 seemingly effortless yards. Flacco finished the first half 15 of 21 for 225 yards and a touchdown.
The Ravens built their lead to 20-3 on a 5-yard pass from Joe Flacco to tight end Dennis Pitta and a 42-yard Justin Tucker field goal.
The Raiders had a 22-yard field goal by Sebastian Janikowski that was more of a downer than an uplifting experience, considering Michael Huff had set up good field position at the Baltimore 19 with an interception of Flacco.
Following Huff’s interception, Flacco’s 46-yard strike to Jacoby Jones helped set up Pitta’s score.

I cant help but remember all the D players spouting off about how this was a “reall D” and a “top 5 D” IMO we’re gonna need new coords on both sides of the ball, Tarvers lack of NFL experience is showing. We need proven coords o both sides of the ball, and neither of these guys are proven.

I’ve been a semi-Knapp apologist up to now but not anymore.He doesn’t use what little talent(?) we have.If Jones isn’t good enough to get on the field,why the hell is he even on the team.I’m getting real tired of dump-offs to Reese.If those are the plays you want to call at least get the ball to someone who can take it for a long gain.

Allen wanted one of the Broncos’ defensive assistants, denied. He wanted a Falcons’ assistant, denied.

Reggie McKenzie’s first three picks in the draft in April must be defensive players.
Pass rusher, defensive back and a big-daddy-kane defensive tackle.
If Raiders stick with the ZBS, an O-lineman doesn’t have to be drafted high as those athletic, smaller, quicker lineman are available in late rounds and free agency.

Palmer is not the QB, or should we say difference maker at QB that a lot of us hoped for.
It’s just that simple.
From the standpoint of knowing what’s going on, making mental adjustments, ALWAYS knowing where the open area is.
Elite QBs direct the games. Not just make the plays that are open.

I don’t have as much of a problem with Tarver as I do with Knapp. The D has obvious personal issues (CB, lack of pass rushers) and is playing similar to last year and maybe a bit better. Is he perfect, hell no.
The downgrade in the offensive line and running game were constants we could count on the last two years and were the biggest reasons the Raiders were 8-8 both seasons. The dramatic downfall with similar personnel is all on the O coaching staff and DA for overseeing it.

As post #86 alluded to, it’s pretty disappointing a number of personnel moves, like Taiwan not getting many snaps at all, and no carries, tho listed #3, he gets leapt over by the FB and the practice squad guy. Meanwhile so many other positions on the field like OL, they continue to play the liabilities.

Palmer is way down the list on problems for the Raiders. But the fact is the team would be 5-3 if he were an elite QB. An elite QB make the plays in ATL and against TB. I would say 85% of the time CP plays at an elite level, but when it really matters he just has not made the plays to earn enough Ws since he has been a Raider.

They blitz and instead of squatting on the receivers and expect the blitzer to get there so the QB throws it short and they can make a play on the ball quickly for a tackle or INT, they vacant the area the QB is most likely to throw to.The easiest pass to throw while under pressure is right up the middle and short. Reggie is picking up scrap because Hue Jack gambled, and lost and that gamble is proving to be costly.

Palmer, or at least what we traded for, should be a guy out their LEADING us to wins.
If you need the WRs to mbe good, the OC to be great, the Oline to kepp you clean, then you are not worth a #1 and a #2.
