Raiders lose one linebacker, add another

The Raiders on Wednesday placed linebacker Travis Goethel on season-ending injured reserve as a result of the left knee injury he suffered against the Baltimore Ravens.
They signed veteran linebacker Omar Gaither to take Goethel’s place on the 53-man roster. Gaither will wear No. 53.
Gaither started 40 games for the Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers.
Gaither was one of four players worked out by the Raiders on Tuesday, the regular players’ off day: linebackers Quan Sturdivant, Scott McKillop and Gaither and safety Tyrone Culver.
Gaither, 28, is 6-foot-2 and 235 pounds. He is expected to play on special teams and backup linebacker, along with Aaron Curry and Keenan Clayton. He has experience as a middle linebacker.

OK Mistic is happy with the damage he has done already so he left , i don’t understand how you guys even discuss other stuff with him , other races and stuff, this is a ignorant guy all around, when ever he brings up Palmer after games like last week where our D allowed 55 points, there is no reason to defend palmer against a guy with an agenda, just bring up Cam Newton and his stats and he will go away

Eli Manning threw 18 INT’s last year and won the Super Bowl.

Right now the Raiders are 5th in the league in passing Palmer has the same amount of INT’s as Drew Brees, Andrew Luck, Matt Stafford and the midget in Seattle.

    He has less INT’s than:

    Cam Newton!
    Tony Romo
    Eli Manning

Steve Young BUT! Steve threw a Super Bowl Record “6TD” passes in that game.

Imagine that a QB known for running WON a Super Bowl with his arm 6 TD passes….so even Steve will tell you it was his arm not his legs that got him into canton

We had Fran Tarkington in the 1970′s

We had Randall Cunningham in the 1980′s

We had Kordell Stewart in the 1990′s

We had Vick in the 2000′s

Now we have Scam Newton and RG111 and as far as I see it nothing has changed scrambling QB’s never win the big one!

I don’t see RGIII as a scrambling QB. Is he a dual threat? Of course. Can he scramble? For sure! But his first instinct is to stay in the pocket and he’s pretty good at it. Making something out of a bust play is one thing, running around the backfield play after play is another.

I like RGIII game , but i think he should fake a injury before this coaching staff ruins his career by getting RGIII killed on those college type of plays, he already gotten like 2 concussions i believe , was jacked up pretty good on 1 fake play where he ran a route

The biggest scrambler of them all was Roger Staubach and he won a SB and went to 2 more. Ben scrambles all the time and so Aaron Rodgers. It’s not about scrambling QB’s it’s about winning QB’s however you do it just do it. Cam Newton is very young and you guys act as if he can’t get better which is very naive to say the least.

    Yes he was! Agreed!

  • John David Booty

The best “scrambling” QB I ever saw was Randall. He could just play. Running, passing, he could do it all. He never won that ring, but it doesnt always come down to one man when we’re talking about championships. On the flip, QBs have rings that they didnt contribute that greatly too. Sometimes the best players arent on the best teams, and dont get the rings. Just because a player never got a ring doesnt mean he wasnt capable of getting one based off his ability, just means it didnt happen. And just because a player does have a ring, it doesnt mean he would have been able to accomplish the same thing with another team.
