If Allen does get fired, I wouldn’t mind seeing Stanford coach David Shaw hired. He was an assistant with the Raiders and is Willie Shaw’s son.

DA’s not going anywhere. Shaw could make an interesting candidate, though.

So let me get this straight MR/Albert/whatever the fuk your name is….
According to you, the level of your education is dependent upon where you come from?

__________
I think we will see DA on the sidelines again next year, sure as hell hope some of these assistants take a walk, though. I don’t like DA’s lack of emotion, and I obviously don’t like losing. But as crazy as it may sound I’m still on the fence about him. If we did bring in someone else. I would hope for a big name, a proven coach (NOT Andy Reid). Really wanted Jeff Fisher last year and we see what he’s doing in St. Louis.

He should not be fired. As I said though, Shaw is one hell of a coach.
Al actually had the opportunity to hire Harbrough but couldn’t take the competition.

I saw something interesting today. Over at High Street and International is a check cashing place. Across the street in the lot next to the taco truck was Dennis Allen and Reggie MacKenzie eating Mexican food with an eye on the check cashing place to see how many of their players show up there. I think they found out: almost all of them.

This first drive is incredibly important for this game, this staff, this QB and this organization
Josh Scobee kicks off to the Oak0. Touchback.
Darren McFadden rush to the right for 1 yard
Carson Palmer rush up the middle for no gain FUMBLE, recovered by Oak (Carson Palmer).
Carson Palmer incomplete pass to the right intended for Darren McFadden.
Shane Lechler punts for 46 yards to Jac33.
Micheal Spurlock return for 28 yards to Oak39.
That was one ugly drive. They started at our 40 after the drive. We looked worse then inept. I give vegas a hard time now and then by calling it the franchise drive

We need a group of strong linebackers like Ray Lewis, .
Suppose we had a RAVEN type defence. Why has it taken so long to buid one?
Take the basics of their Defense -Get 6 of Best tallest and strongest experience
3 year Nfl players. Strongest proven guys that have a reputation to get a good thrust
Push up the middle. 3 famous real quick Linebackers -Ray Lewis, Urlacker, Clay Mathew
Guys that can chase you up and down -side go side the field.A Troy Palumalu type.
Then complete the very important backfield with proven Safeties and Cornerbacks like Champ Bailey or Texan or Dolphins type . COMPLETE!

2 QB runs and a panic heave in OT, than a FG try 7 yards longer than any kick he ever made?
Kelly would flop MASSIVELY in the pro game.
November 17th, 2012 at 8:31 pm
If Barkley didn’t get injured today, I would have picked USC to beat Notre Dame.
November 17th, 2012 at 8:32 pm

November 17th, 2012 at 8:32 pm
I hate USC, but how could you not root for them to beat Notre Dame so we have like eight, 1-loss teams?
November 17th, 2012 at 8:32 pm
I want a backfield that bat the ball down and it watches the ball in the air, not the receiver only. I wan’t a front 6 that can push up to the Qbs hips and tackle you to ground ,and won’t slip out and stops you cold on 4th down and all of them 6.6 ft or over and all strip the ball and all jump up and down to bat the ball down and block your view. Why has it taken so long.
Years why. Kiddin Dude in 2 years I assemble it from film from NFL and no rookies just NFL PLAYERS 3 Years experience only.

Hey,East, how is that offense doing this year against the big boys. That was what we were talking about. That offense won’t work in the NFL.Too many too big and too fast guys.
November 17th, 2012 at 8:55 pm
I like Austin a lot, but he isn’t an everydown player like a Percy Harvin.
5′9 170??? Not going to withstand the NFL taking 20 handoffs like he did today.
Could be a Pro Bowl kick returner though.

Shaw would lol at KNAPP OC gameplans.. then would be like GTFOH

ND has Teo and a good D, but I think of all the “contenders” right now, Georgia has the best D. Certainly the D with the most pro prospects on it.
That’s who I am calling, but we will see if they can get past ‘Bama.
November 17th, 2012 at 8:59 pm
Austin can make plays in the NFL for sure, but I am always leary of the guys who have no real position. For every Percy Harvin, there seems to be more Peter Warrick’s.
The NFL is all about having defined roles.
Austin needs to work on his route-running, because he isn’t playing any RB at the next level.
Again though, he could impact our game TOMORROW in the return game if he suited up for us.

The only thing is the stadium deal, and he does deserve credit for that.
But if not for completely stumbling into Aaron Rodgers at Butte, he would have been mostly crap for 10 years.
QB play is just dreadful, even though they are tossing it to NFL level WR’s.

Hopefully the rain will be over by noon. Don’t really feel like dressing up for foul weather. It should be a real shoot-out tomorrow. More balls in the air than on the ground. November 17th, 2012 at 9:44 pm
I would be VERY suprised if we could get a 2nd for Darren, heck even a 3rd rounder would suprise me.
RB’s just aren’t valued that high, especially ones with years and injuries accrued on them, in the NFL.
Marshall Faulk was fresh off a 2,000 yard from scrimmage season, was always healthy, and a frequent Pro Bowler, and get traded for a ………2nd round pick.
Darren is no Marshall Faulk.
I bet the market would be a 2012 4th rounder, and a conditional 2013 pick depending on playing time, production, etc.
November 17th, 2012 at 9:45 pm

November 17th, 2012 at 9:51 pm
I don’t know why fans think DMAC has low trade value. We traded Philip Buchanon for a 2nd and Doug Jolley for a 1st.
DMAC is still young, and I’m sure there are a few teams who think DMAC can be a great RB in their system. The issue with him is durability which will hurt his trade value. I say 2nd-3rd.
November 17th, 2012 at 9:53 pm
I think a team like the cowboys or jets would love to have DMAC. maybe even the PATS
November 17th, 2012 at 9:54 pm
Excuse me but from what I can remember Michael Bush rushed for almost 1,000 yards here and 7 TD’s yet people keep bringing up his stats for another team. Eventhough Bush is their short yardage back. Something fans just don’t understand is a shortyardage back will always average less YPC than the featured back.
To quote his stats as evidence of what he would have done here is just flat out ignorant. How do you know what he would do here rather than there? How do you know how they would have used him?
All I know is that whne he was here he was higly productive. You can say all you want about how much money we had or otherwise the truth is we didn’t want him bad enough if we did he would still be here.
Bush not being here is REGGIE’S choice and to spin it any other way is to absolve Reggie of his role in it………period
Reggie could’ve told Bush listen I wnat you here and what will it take? He didn’t do that because he didn’t feel he needed him. Neither did all of you who are coming upo with these lame ass excuses. You all thought we could replace him EASY as you put it.
Welll dammit I’m still waiting for the replacement. Thanks for listening…

Raiders prove next-in-line doesn’t apply
Vic Tafur
Published 8:57 p.m., Saturday, November 17, 2012
People loved and hated former Raiders coach Hue Jackson, but my biggest criticism had nothing to do with his overstated style.
Jackson kept Kyle Boller as the backup quarterback last season even though he had no faith in him. When starter Jason Campbell went down with a broken clavicle in Week 7, Jackson panicked and Oakland traded a first- and second-round pick for Carson Palmer.
Palmer has been good, but even his mom would admit that’s a steep price tag for a quarterback coming off semi-retirement who will be 33 next month.
Two weeks ago, the Raiders lost running backs Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson to high ankle sprains. Taiwan Jones would appear to be next in line, but the coaching staff has no faith in the second-year speedster.
Jones had two carries for 6 yards last week, and fullback Marcel Reece started at tailback and had five carries for 11 yards in the first half, when the game was still in doubt. He finished with 13 carries for 48 yards, and promoted practice-squader Jeremy Stewart had seven for 22 yards.
Jones, the fastest player at the 2011 NFL combine, has problems holding on to the ball. Forget about after contact, we’re talking about handoffs in practice.
Which begs the question, why don’t the Raiders pick up an experienced free agent running back like Steve Slaton, Joseph Addai, Ryan Torrain or Ryan Grant?
“No, because it’s that time of year where there’s not a ton of guys that you really want to cut somebody for to bring in,” Palmer said.
Really? The Raiders are 3-6 with bad depth.
They would rather go with Reece, who was a receiver in college. He is a big-time playmaker at fullback but has very little experience at finding and hitting holes as a tailback. This preseason would have been a nice time for that, but this idea was not on the team’s radar – Reece didn’t carry the ball in those four games.
And then he had one – a botched reverse – in the first seven games before McFadden and Goodson got hurt.
I’m not saying Jones is the answer. I just don’t get how when the No. 1 and No. 2 running backs get hurt, the No. 3 guy – and he still is – doesn’t get the ball.

THe guy is a football player. Ford is just a track guy who gets injured

November 17th, 2012 at 11:54 pm
They won’t let Ford go. Some team would trade for Ford at the end of the season.
If Davis, McK and DA want to truly rebuild, than just trade DMC and Ford and get as many picks as possible and hope they do the right things in the draft.
I do have confidence in McK’s drafting ability at least.

Just out of curiosity, what gives you confidence in McK’s drafting ability? He drafted a good LB, but most of his other picks haven’t even seen a snap this year. I get that he had only 6 or 7 picks, but still, it isn’t anything amazing to build total confidence in.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:37 am
Definitely trade McFadden.
Keep Goodson, and Taiwan Jones.
Stewart, see how he goes between now and end of season, either cut or keep on the cheap.
Keep Ford. He would be an excellent full-time punt and kick returner, he has the proof in the pudding, and this particular facet has been god-awful for years when he hasn’t been doing and others have.
Seymour, Kelly, gotta go. Keep Bryant, Crawford, Bilukidi.
Trade Branch, cut Giordano. Depending how Mitchell goes this and/or remaining weeks, keep or cut.
Huff leave at CB. Keep Bartell and Spencer if they stay healthy, on the minimum. Keep Chekwa.
Get rid of Tollefson and Carter, they’re stop-gaps.
Trade Briesel.
Get rid of Carlisle, W.Smith, and other scrub depth OL.
Keep Veldheer, Wisniewski, Bergstrom, Barksdale.
Keep all three TEs.
Get rid of Leinart if/when Pryor gets it enough to be a #2.
Keep Moore, DHB, Streater, Criner. Get rid of Hagan. Especially as Streater will eventually beat him out for the Split-End role behind DHB. Moore and Criner the Flankers.
Re-sign Wheeler. Keep Burris. Get rid of McClain, Goethal. Keep some of the scrub LBs for Special Teams.
Move predominantly to a 3-4 and invest in the draft, FA, and trades…
ILB, OLB, NT, OL, CB, SS, FS, RB (in the main), and add a depth project QB.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:39 am
Oh and Reece keep. Schmitt get rid of.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:44 am
Also, trade Shaughnessy.
So all up on the trade block..
McFadden
Branch
Briesel
Shaughnessy
McClain (whatever you can get)
Seymour/Kelly (whatever you can get if still under contract)
Maybe out of that you can get…
Conditional 2nd/3rd out of DMC and Branch
Briesel maybe a 5th to some ZBS needy team
Shaughnessy 4th/5th
Seymour/Kelly 7ths
McClain conditional 7th

We must run the ball today and move the chains. If we don’t then CP will have to throw all day. We might score three TD’s or more but with Brees on the field so much (due to lack of a running game on our part) then the Saints can put up as many points on the board as they need. C’mon OL and RB’s give us a running this season!

The blog has been real “nice” lately. Lots of great Raider talk. Its as if a troll or four left town
November 18th, 2012 at 8:58 am
Likewise, it’s not reasonable to assume McClain is out of trouble with the league office. Though McClain doesn’t have a history of personal-conduct policy violations, the league takes gun issues seriously (as evidenced by the fact that the league fines players who pretend to fire guns after scoring touchdowns). Like the league did in the Ben Roethlisberger case, the NFL could choose to do its own investigation and impose its own punishment, regardless of whether the charges have been dropped.
Indeed, there was enough evidence to secure a first-level conviction of McClain in court. All the NFL needs to is read the transcript of sworn testimony and come to a conclusion as to whether McClain should be fined or suspended.
November 18th, 2012 at 8:59 am
Just so no one gets too happy or sad.
November 18th, 2012 at 8:59 am
“It’s unclear why the alleged victim has opted not to proceed, but it’s reasonable to wonder whether a confidential settlement of all civil claims has been reached between McClain and the alleged victim. Under this scenario, the alleged victim receives a cash payment, and the alleged victim agrees to withdraw all charges.
Indeed, there was enough evidence to secure a first-level conviction of McClain in court. All the NFL needs to is read the transcript of sworn testimony and come to a conclusion as to whether McClain should be fined or suspended.”
