Branch among Raiders inactives
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Sunday, November 18th, 2012 at 11:37 am in Oakland Raiders.
Strong safety Tyvon Branch, who has started 57 consecutive games for the Raiders, will be inactive against the Saints Sunday with a neck injury.
Branch worked out on the field with trainers before the game, went back inside, and a short time later was declared inactive. Also inactive is wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey, out with a hamstring injury.
Correction: DHB is active and Willie Smith is inactive.
Mike Mitchell will get his first start in the base defense in place of Branch.
Other Raiders inactives included quarterback Terrelle Pryor, guard Lucas Nix, defensive tackle Richard Seymour, running backs Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson.

I’m an Al Davis fan 1st & foremost. While we don’t disagree with some questionable decisions the past 10 season, it doesn’t rid all the good he did in my mind. Plus, he had us setup better than previous years.
Now, having said that, I wished HE would have hand picked his GM.

I understand. And I sound harsh, but I do greatly respect the man. It just frustrates the heck out of me when people ignorantly idolize him, swearing he would’ve led us to greatness. The path he was on, I mean, 10 years of complete garbage, was almost entirely due to his extremely poor decisions. He really had lost touch with the game. Like I said, complete jokes for drafts, signing way overpriced over-the-hill FA that other teams wouldn’t go near. Terrible salary cap and contract management. Running a really good coach (Jon Gruden) out of town.
Honestly, he reaped what he sowed this past decade. He was a megalomaniac who wanted control and power over everything. He ruined and gutted this team, filling it with track stars and busts that are soft and play to cash checks.

I respect the fact that you admit it. Plenty of times in my life I’ve done the same thing. It’s just the frustration of a decade boiling over. Yearly seeing terrible decisions being made, all over the place. Watching my beloved team plummet from the heights of a Super Bowl appearance to the toilet, all because a man didn’t want to share the spotlight with a coach. To taste the pinnacle and then watch it all completely implode. I do blame him for that. He is not above blame. But I also recognize that the team wouldn’t be here today if not for him.

Matt Ryan may be surrounded with the best supporting cast in history. I guarantee you that if the backup went in, there wouldn’t be a dropoff. Hell, they might even win a playoff game. Gannon used to rip receivers, tight ends, running backs, etc. when they ran the wrong route. Gannon would yell at the in huddle on sidelines. Saw it live on the field and on TV.
And, after getting verbally abused, Gannon’s teammates responded and corrected the mistakes. And once the errors were amended, the Raiders offense was clicking after the hiccups.
It also helped Gannon had Gruden on the sideline to reinforce the verbal abuse.
Palmer, at times, has verbally lashed out at teammates on field and sidelines. Need to see more of that from Palmer.

And Vick’s concussion was very worrisome, as they reported before kickoff he did nothing but sleep all week and got worse as the week went along.
He probably won’t play the rest of the year, and it will be a mutual decision by all parties.

Fing Brandon Weeden…
Browns had a chance to beat those jerks from Dallas and freakin Weeden chokes it away.
What a joke.

My point exactly. This means they’ll get a good enough look at Foles to determine he isn’t the answer and how underappreciated Vick is. We’ll just have to see.

I should have started Palmer over Aaron Rodgers in FF this week.

Gruden might have had an acrimonious relationship with Al, but has always remained respectful and never bad-mouthed the Raids.
I have a lot of respect for Gruden.
Glad he’s lighting the torch.

Oh yeah? A no-brainer when Rodgers is capable of throwing 4 TDs in any game.

underappreciated Vick is.
***************************
Last 24 games he is 10-14 with 35+ turnovers.
Took a perennial playoff team into the toilet, and is due a humongous pay raise.
He isn’t coming back to Philly man. Not like he is dead or something, another team will bring him and he will probably be starting week of 2013.
Just not in Philly. They will have a new HC, QB and maybe GM.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:55 pm
Romo better pray the Browns don’t score a TD or his house might go up in flames tonight.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:57 pm
RaiderDebo
Cowboys right tackle Doug Free is living up to his namesake.
He’s giving Browns defensive lineman a free pass to Tony Romo.
Sure, Romo should have held on to the ball, but when a defensive end is in your grill moments after you get the snap due to your right tackle’s incompetence, blame is spread equally.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:57 pm
If Vick was due $5 million next season, he would without a doubt be back.
Since he is due $16.5 million, he will without a doubt no be.
That’s the business side of the game that for whatever reason you choose to ignore.

Vick’s career ended near the goal line vs. Arizona.
He got pulverized. Noodle permanently scrambled.
Vick is finito.

Dick Stockton was once a great announcer, but listen for how many mistakes he makes today.
Wrong team, wrong players, misspeaks, doesn’t know the new rules.
It is pathetic sometimes.

I miss Gus Johnson on CBS. He did a lot of Raider games the last two season. Gus-gasms are ridiculous, but entertaining to listen to.

I see Vick as a top QB in this league. $16.5 is the going rate for these guys. He wasn’t protected by the garbage OL or the playcalling. The D failed to finish off games in the 4th qtr that they led in. The return game has been nonexistent. He’s been dominant against the division. He deserves the same job security that Phillip Rivers and Tony Romo enjoy. We’ll just have to see.
