ESPN: McClain charges dropped

Charges which resulted in a conviction by a municipal court judge against Raiders middle linebacker Rolando McClain have been dropped, ESPN reported Sunday.

Originally sentenced to 180 days in jail for charges including illegal discharge of a firearm, reckless endangerment and menacing, McClain will not have to serve any jail time and is legally cleared in the incident, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The verdict was under appeal, which in Alabama means the process starts from the beginning and includes a jury trial.

There was no immediate comment from the Raiders or the NFL. The Raiders elected to let the appeals process run its course and let the legal system determine what if any punishment McClain would receive.

The NFL in theory could still take action if it believes McClain ran afoul of its personal conduct policy.

The incident involving McClain took place in November of 2011 when the Raiders linebacker was home in Decatur, Ala., attending the funeral of a relative.

McClain was accused by defendant Rishard Tapscott, a former high school basketball teammate, of firing a gun near his head in a dispute.

Tapscott, according to the ESPN report, has opted not to proceed.

Was checking on the inactives, and Carolina has 6 guys inactive, and 3 of them have Campbell as their last name (include Bruce).

Look at some of these holes Doug Martin gets to run through. I mean, he’s good, don’t get me wrong, but dang. McFadden couldn’t dream of that.

Guess we’re not going to void Rolando’s contract for criminal conduct…
    Go Raiders!

Maybe we can pitch the HC gig to Chuckie during the game…
    Maybe he’ll show at Rickey’s again tonight…

Carolina working on having the #1 overall pick twice in 3 years, which has never been done in NFL history.

Usually that first #1 overall helps a little.

McClain is not as bad as you people think, but I can understand the frustration since he was a top 10 pick, and fans expect an impact player which he is not.
I still think he is a solid player who will be here next year.

I make JAX favorites to be picking first.

They desperately need a QB and there doesn’t seem to be one worthy of selecting #1.

Kinda like when we got JaMoroned.
