McFadden and Seymour not practicing once again

Another day of practice, another day without running backs Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson and defensive tackle Richard Seymour.
The trio missed all three practices this week, same as the previous two weeks. Therefore, it seems a foregone conclusion that coach Dennis Allen in an hour or so will declare all three as out for Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
McFadden (ankle), Goodson (ankle) and Seymour (hamstring) missed the past two games. Allen said they are making progress, but he isn’t sure when any of them might heal enough to return to practice and play in a game.
Rookie defensive end Jack Crawford also is not practicing. He suffered a toe injury Wednesday and missed the past two practices.
On the bright side, strong safety Tyvon Branch (neck) and running back Taiwan Jones (ankle) made it through another practice without any apparent lingering effects from their injuries.
For now, it appears as if Marcel Reece, Jones and rookie Jeremy Stewart will handle the running back duties for a third straight game.
Desmond Bryant will take the bulk of Seymour’s snaps Sunday if Seymour isn’t able to play.

– The Raiders will wrap up practice in about 45 minutes or so. At that time, Allen will address the media and likely announce which players won’t be available for the Bengals game.
It’s also possible that Allen will shed some more light on what he intends to do with the vacancy he has on the 53-man roster. The spot freed up when the Raiders waived linebacker Aaron Curry.
Allen said the Raiders might fill the spot by signing one of the eight players on their practice squad. They went that route two weeks ago when they signed Stewart.

– Curry cleared waivers, as expected. He now is a free agent and available to sign with any team, including the Raiders.
It’s a stretch to envision the Raiders re-signing Curry, given they already had him under contract and got to see him play the past two games.
However, anything is possible, and the Raiders likely could get him back at very little cost. Then again, they’re already on the hook for paying him the remainder of what he is due this season as part of his previous contract.

The only bad players we have on D is Gio, and MM34 everyone else would play better under a legit DC

  • Just Fire Baby

None of that is luck, the D forced those errors and we blocked a fg thats not luck, its called making a play.

    ****************************

So the same should be said for the Pitt game this year right?

I don’t believe in luck or any of that, you are what you are. We were an 8-8 team last year that peaked at the wrong time and floundered down the stretch.

Now hindsight being 20/20, maybe we should have rolled the Hue dice for one more year. But how could you expect any GM, fresh off watching this team implode in Green Bay and Miami, and fall flat on their face at home to end the season, and think we need to keep the HC?

The decision to fire Hue, to me, is the worst decision made in at least the last 20 or so years of Raiders football. Worse than drafting JaMarcus, worse than Art Shell Part II and the B&B offense, worse than the Javon Walker/Deangelo Hall contracts, worse than everything.

No way was it worse then Jasyruphead or trading Chuckie

YEah ofcourse, we were that close to losing 4 more games, DEN game where orton was leading a nice drive, he fumbles the ball trying to throw with no one even near him , Houston game , Schaub is at the 5 yard line all he needed was 1 pass completion to win, Chicago game , we barely beat Cutlers backup who was as good as our back up last year, KC game barely beat them Seymour got his fingers on KC game winning FG try,
    ——————-

None of that is luck, the D forced those errors and we blocked a fg thats not luck, its called making a play.

Do you realize how many “close” games the ‘76 Raiders won?

If not for a 17 pt. comeback in the last 3 mins. they lose wk 1 to Pitt.

They “barely” beat a bad GB team at home 13-9, if not for a last second fg doinking off the upright they lose at Chi., they only beat KC by 4 pt’s BOTH times i think.

My point is we can talk “if” this or “if” that all day long, but those “if’s” work both ways.

“If” our defense can make one damn stop against Buffalo we win. “If” McClain doesn’t drop a sure int on the last drive we still win, “if” Branch doesn’t let a 4th quarter td go right thru his hands we win that game. “If” we hold Detroit at their 1 yd. line we win. “If” we didn’t have McClain covering Megatron we win that game.

I’d say Buffalo and Detroit were the ones who got “lucky”.

Now were discounting Houston game too cuz we made a play at the end? And KC cuz we blocked a fg?

“If” we hold SD at their 1/2 yd. line and don’t allow Mike Freaking Tolbert to run for a 42 yd gain we win that game.

“If’s” work both ways and they worked more against us last yr.

I’m not trying to discount last year, every team can use If’s both ways and can make the case , I’m pretty sure 0-16 lions could use if this and if that to the tune of atleast 8-8 record but all I’m saying is you can only compare how this team is doing against identical opponents, so far we have beaten 2-3 bad teams, about par with how we did last year but we faced more worse teams last year

Exactly. 2 of the 3 wins came against worse teams than the Raiders and they got lucky versus the Jags.

Same could be said for last year 6 of 8 wins came against teams worse than Raiders and 3 or 4 of them were pure luck

Not this year they wouldn’t of. Hue would have done his homework in the off season and brought in a bona-fide DC. That much is common knowledge. Letting Hue go was wrong.

  • EMRaiders

I don’t see us winning out. I think we might go 5-11 if we play good, or even 6-10 if we get lucky. But that’s it. And this is coming from someone that predicted us to go 11-5 at the beginning of the season.

A lot of it has to do with the players, but coaches don’t get a free pass on my book. It is true that the injuries don’t help, and it plays a big factor in gameplanning and execution, but it is the coaches job to make it work and account for injuries to key players. You must have a back up plan, being the type of game it is, injuries are a part of the game.

My fault ratio falls like this, coaches, players, injuries – 40-40-20.

As much as I am tired of seeing new coaches, and schemes, I think Knapp has to go next season, and Tarver is not far behind. I thought we couldn’t get any worse than last year, but we are well on track to accomplish that on D.

Knapp needs to go because of his stupid ways to try and force feed his zbs to a line that didn’t have the players for it, and a RB that obviously didn’t know how to run in that system. It was clear the first time he was here, and yet, here we are trying it again. What is the definition of insanity again?….

I was not sure about this before, but now I think it is best to trade McFadden and get either pics to fill the huge holes on this team, or get a solid vet player or two.
I think his contract is up this year anyway, and I really don’t think he will resign with us, or we will pay what he wants.

As of now, I can care less what happens to DA and Reggie. IF they are fired, then so be it, but you better get someone in here that knows what they are doing, not some rookie a$$ HC. Not again. Al was known for doing this, and eventhough he had some success, his failures were notable as well. Now is the time to get someone with experience in here, not some rookie. So that this mess can finally be fixed, hopefully.

However, if DA and Reggie do stay, then they better take their heads out their collective a$$es and start making the right moves. Because I am about ready to pick up my pitch fork and torch and make my way down to Alameda. Who’s coming with me!?

When did this blog become less about discussing the Raiders and more about insulting everyone who disagrees with you? Or has it always been this way?

    Ahhhh…..”professional courtesy”.

Kind of like what Palmer and Seymour said about Hue this week?
    ===================================================
    EXACTLY.

What is so hard to grasp that it’s a pretty SET RULE THAT ALMOST EVERY PLAYER AND COACH IS TAUGHT…DON’T SAY ANYTHING NEGATIVE ABOUT OTHER PLAYERS OR COACHES, UNLESS YOU WANT TO MAKE HEADLINES.

Every so often a player gets baited by the media, and says something he not only quickly regrets, but that every other player points to (or has it pointed out) that “See?? That’s why you don’t open your mouth.”

And because the media loves to twist words, many players have nothing at all to do with the media.

Easier said than done, this team has no pass rusher, you can’t beat teams in this passing league with no pass rusher, schemes don’t matter when you can’t put pressure on qb’s

    —————————-

Hue knew the glaring problems and needs. This new regime did not. They just had a pipe dream they wanted to force feed onto the players. It failed before, and it has failed again. The should have built around personel, fixed the obvious with a pass rush and kept Bush. They didn’t.

Ghost: “For a player who’s contributed only 400, 450, 500 and 500 yds in 4 of the last 5 years? While collecting over 32 million during those 5 years? (this year included)
    Not going to happen.”

That last 500 should have been 600

I’m talking about if Hue was still here , we may have averaged 25 this year, but our D is allowing 33 so it wouldn’t have mattered
    ————–

Understand this Mc20, Offense makes your Defense better by default just go back to our 2002 SB team, our D was bad then too and guess who the DC was? Chuck B. But our O was so good and we sustained those long drives our D stayed fresh and just had to hang on and thats what they did more times than not.

    —-
That’s not the case, they just simply had more talent on that side, if O’s really helped Ds out that much, then why were both NE and GB ranked in the bottom 15 in D categories last year?
    ——————–

Once again you miss the point, just imagine if GB and NE O’s were garbage how bad would their D’s be then. But since the O keeps them off the field they can stay in the middle of the pack.

  • DKnight007

    Anyways. This team is terrible.

Let’s just hope McK can draft Te’o or Jones in the draft next year.
