End 3rd qtr: Bengals 24, Raiders 10

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Sunday, November 25th, 2012 at 12:22 pm in Oakland Raiders.

The Raiders scored on a 55-yard field goal by Sebastian Janikowski and a 20-yard pass from Carson Palmer to Denarius Moore to outscore the Bengals 10-0 in a quarter during which they had been outscored 123-34 coming into the game.

The Raiders have the ball at the 50 to open the quarter with a real chance to re-enter a game that looked hopelessly lost. Oakland’s defense has harassed Andy Dalton into a succession of three-and-outs, the last one coming on a sack by Matt Shaughnessy.

Washington State’s Mike Leach would be a perfect coach!

He’s an offensive mastermind and, if a player doesn’t perform, he’ll lock them up in a locker for a few hours.

    Talk about a disciplinarian!

    McFadden,

I’m going to give any GM 3 years. Blaming a GM in his first season, when most of his roster is inherited from the previous GM, is beyond stupid
Your beyond stupid! Not one fkn guy Reggie has brought in here has done anything!!!Name one.

This is beyond embarrassing. I don’t have the words to describe this mess.

    What happened to DHB?

  • Just Fire Baby

New coach, new attitude, and for a while had the top offense in the league.

    *************************

Tampa also had a first round pick and cap room to throw a boatload of money at a top flight WR.

    We had neither of those.

How can anybody really think all of their draft picks are terrible? The Bucs were like 2-14 last year, they sucked! New coach, new attitude, and for a while had the top offense in the league. Notice the type odd coach they have? A real tough azz like bellick, like harbaugh, like Tomlin,. Its 100% coaxbing that makes you respectable, players just put you over the top.
    …..

Yeah, and the year before they were 10-6… they had talent there already. When’s the last time the Raiders went 10-6?

so, playing 20-20, Jackson not being retained by Reggie is the key mistake
or Reggie banking on a young, untested head coach?

Reggie is a tool is childish. Put the problem in context. Why? What picks did he have? How could he have done it better.

John, wins and losses are all that counts.

    2006 team was 2-14.

    This team has 3 wins.

Reggie is already doing better this year than Al Davis did in 2006. And, Al Davis gave himself 5 additional years. Would have given himself several more had he not died. And people think Reggie shouldn’t even get one complete year? Ridiculous.
    ————————————————-
If wins and losses were all that mattered, then it should be easy for you to admit that this team is far worse than it was the last 2 seasons, when they were 8-8.

If wins and losses were all that mattered, a 9-7 team would not have won the SB last year.

Your team has to get better, it has to improve. This team is not improving. They are getting worse, each week.

2 teams can have the same record. So are you saying that it is impossible to determine which team might be better, just because they ended up with the same amount of wins and losses? Ive watched every game this season and 2006. This team has played much worse, regardless of having one more win.

  • nycraider

Who’s Reggie? evryone talks about him but he’s never heard or seen bc he has his brother as a stunt double fill in for him so he he can stay safe while he’s building the best practice squad in the NFL

  • Priesttj12

I don’t blame Palmer one bit, and I mean that.

I know he played poorly my issue is he is saying why are we NOT PLAYING GUYS that cna help us win.

Taiwan Jones doesn’t even rate a carry because the HC is too busy nitpicking everything he does wrong.

It took forever to get Reece started and where is Ausberry? Palmer is frustrated and it shows in his play he is DEMORALIZED……………period

Good question Booty. I think the answer is that certain people (MR) have such a hatred for Al Davis and invested so much time in talking about him that its become more about him being right than this team bringing in the right GM and the right Coach. It’s all about one mans ego.

    ===========

    yup

  • Derek

The Bengals kept 7 to 8 in the box most of the game, to help pressure the QB into his usual mistakes aka int’s. I’m not sure why slants were’nt called to take advantage of the middle being open. The Bengal safeties were almost always playing on or near the line of scrimmage.

LMAO! But I’ll pass on another college coach. I actually was questioning Hue before the last game last season, but his post game press conference made me respect him.

    REGRESSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • boss01

If I am Mark Davis, I am getting involved somehow and hold somebody accountable. I am firing Knapp and Tarver Today and putting Reggie and DA on Notice.

Season is over, time to cut ties with the check cashers and inept coaches.

  • Mistic1 Tha Supavillain

This team is unwatchable, & Carson sinks to an all time low. Carson went out with hardly a wimper & slinks off into utter unimportance.

The time draws close for tp6 ; & Allen has no control of this team.

  • nycraider

Knapp makes the decision on personnel on offense.its why he was genius not giving reece a carry until week 10 so he could be fresh for the run in december..

  • Derek

Never any Ausberry, a huge mismatch for most. No dump offs to Jones in open space. No reverses, Schmidt gets the ball on 4th and 1. Reece wasted most of the season. TP inactive during a lost season.

Coaches blow. They have no clue.

Fatal mistake for Mark Davis to come out and say that. Ownership should be in the background, till the end of the season. Now Davis is under more scrutiny to let an inexperienced guy go, and look for somebody that would be under more pressure to perform. Davis’ is goal is to say; “Thats my guy” to restore confidence, or not say anything

    that being said.

REX RYAN, come on down!! LOL

if D.A. comes back, he will need to hit a home run in the draft – its almost looking like QB, trading McFadden, Seymour, Kelly, McClain leaving and rebuilding altogether (Barkley, Geno Smith, etc) or trading down and players to acquire draft picks.

  • DJ Johnny

Gotta tip your cap to the Bengals.

  • boss01

Activate everybody from the practice squad and cut the check cashers. Hate to say it, now that the season is OVER, the only thing I would tune in for is to see what TP6 has to offer.

Highest yardage total since Gannon. Is it his fault McFadden didnt fit on the ZBS?

A warrior who drove a comeback vs. Steelers (much better team than Bengals), a near comeback v. Falcons and Tampa Bay.

Any other better QB’s out there, that Raiders could draft or trade for, please identify them.

    i’ll wait

  • Derek

I’m no Carson Palmer hater. I was actually happy when the trade was made. However it’s clear, he’s not a difference maker and in fact he’s a loser. Not personally, but as a player. The guy makes far to many mistakes in crunch time. The raiders would be wise to look at TP the remainder of the season and if he shows promise trade CP for a pick or 2. If TP looks like he can’t play, draft a QB or sign a quality FA.

You think if Davis gets too impatient, fires Allen, was Allen’s mistake sticking with Knapp for so long…and his inexperience as head coach and background wasnt enough for him to take over playcalling (the first instinct of any head coach, when the OC struggles for 8 games)

  • 2romes

The AL Davis haters thought any change was a good change. Clean out everyone and good things just happen. You guys are living in Raiderwonderland. The NFL is a hard fought game. It requires a steady dose of progression and that is what Hue gave us. This group of collective coaches lead by BIG REGGIE is a joke right now.

I cant ever remember a trade of that significance, then another trade being done after that. I dont think he’d get any takers…when they can wait for the Raiders to cut him.

Raiders are stuck. The question is would they move McFadden, trade down to stock pile picks to about 9 and infuse the team with talent.

    ========

I could never figure, how a guy who has been a player in the league, would not have thought to get coaches who were former players like Ray Horton, or Dennis Thurman in as hires – or at least look to Ted Cottrell and other more experienced people. I think the process was very fast, McKenzie was inexperienced, and went with a lot of people who had to learn on the fly, and a horrific O.C.

Sprnkle in a bad year by McFadden, injuries to Ford, and other players, no draft picks and no key FAs. And voila! Disaster.

  • boss01

Wholesale changes needed to be made on defense last year, but the with the salary cap being what it was and lack of draft picks, the agony had to be prolonged another year.

This offseason there will be no excuses. Need a significant influx of talent on defense.
