Mike Nugent’s 55-yard field goal at the gun gave the Bengals a 24-0 lead in what might be the Raiders’ worst 20 minutes to date.
The score was set up by Carson Palmer’s first interception on a third-and-10 pass slightly behind Marcel Reece, with the ball glancing off Reece’s hands to Chris Crocker. Crocker ran it back 29 yards, with Andy Dalton hitting Mohamad Sanu for 11 yards.
On Cincinnati’s previous possession, Nugent missed a 48-yard field goal after the Raiders failed on third-and-1 and fourth-and-1 on the first time they crossed midfield.
The Raiders are giving ground against both run and pass and big plays are plentiful for the Bengals. May as well gas up the team charter . . .

We need to get back to basics where personnel is concerned, stop trying to build some class Raider team that scores on every down (never existed, btw). We need QB that can throw accurately, o lineman that can block, receivers that can catch, running backs that are elusive and explosive, a front 7 that can tackle, a secondary that can cover. Damn the athletic skills. Make sure they have the basic football skills. I think Reggie is trying to do that. But it will take 3 years. I don’t know if I want to wait that long.

Al, I believe a hybrid defense is better than just playing man all of the time. If a QB gets any time, he’s going to find someone open in man. You have to mix it up. No matter who brought in these players, they’re not that good. Al Davis had nearly a decade despite losing year after year. Reggie deserves 3 years.

That was the worst half of football I’ve ever seen. If there was any question as to whether or not this team has packed it in … there was your answer.

They are junk. And most of the players AND coaches on this roster will be OUT OF THE LEAGUe by next year.

Agreed. I’ve said it many times on this blog, Raiders defensive personnel is geared towards man-to-man schemes.
Like many complained about the inability of players to adjust to the ZBS scheme on offense, the defense has trouble with the zone concepts.

After warching lsu pretty much beat Alabama and then Texas a&m taking them down I know ND can beat them…he’ll they probably will not make it past Georgia.

Ever since I was a lil mac, I remember seeing Pete Banazak score from inside the 5yard line. This was automatic. Back then, we had swagger built thru comaraderie and playing for the guy next 2u… Now speed rush 2 now… Switching the WizKid from his guard to center was the start of our running woes… Maybe his uncle, BigWiz, knew this? While its nice for us fans to be proud of getting close to the playoffs, in the end, Jackson and Allen finished without a playoff appearance.
To make matters worse was all Hubris and Co. had to do was win the season finale. The defense collapsed and the offense couldn’t get into the end zone.
