McFadden looks ready to roll Thursday
By Steve Corkran
Tuesday, December 4th, 2012 at 11:52 am in Oakland Raiders.
Running back Darren McFadden is running around at practice today without any lingering effects from the high-ankle sprain that forced him to miss the past four games.
Coach Dennis Allen said he expects McFadden and backup running back Mike Goodson to play Thursday night against the Denver Broncos. Goodson also has missed the past four games with a similar injury.
Defensive tackle Richard Seymour (hamstring) is not practicing once again, and it appears as if he is about to miss his fifth straight game.
Defensive end Jack Crawford (toe) is back at practice, as are safeties Matt Giordano and Mike Mitchell. The latter two suffered concussions Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
Cornerback Phillip Adams also suffered a concussion against the Browns. He was not cleared to practice today.
Offensive coordinator Greg Knapp was quite vocal in presiding over practice today in place of head coach Dennis Allen, who is in Dallas with his family. Allen’s father Grady passed away Monday night. Allen is expected back with the Raiders on Wednesday night.

==========================================
No he isn’t. I told you this. He is running Ault’s Nevada Pistol offense. It is the same offense kapernick ran. It is a triple option offense run out of the shotgun. Ault used a single back, but Shanahan has thrown in a few variations including using a two back spread offense. No one else in the league runs this, and it has been VERY effective. One of the reasons I think the Whiners went with Kaepernick is to install that same offense across the bay. The problem is DC’s will spend all off season figuring a way to stop it.

Reggie will probably trade down anyways, and get more picks out of that!

We just lost to the Browns at home and you people are OK. No one is on suicide watch, so I’m sure we can survive loosing to a better team that won the division.

sorry but you just have to give credit to RGIII and stop trying to make it less than.
Shanahan teaches the west coast offens, always has, started with the niners all the way through elway and plummer.
Shanahan is still using the west coast offense, complete with boot legs and shot gun like he did with elway and plummer. he also has used a zone running offense, and was one of the first to marry it with the west coast passing offense. This led to super bowl wins.
Shanahan IS STILL RUNNING THAT OFFENSE TODAY.
hE ONLY ADDED THE PISTOL FORMATION AND THE READ AND TRIPLE OPTION THAT BAYLOR USED TO HIS PLAYBOOK!.
The formation with pistol and multiple backs is directly out of the baylor playbook, not nevada.
You have to now admit that not only has RGIII mastered the west coast offense that shanahn teaches but has successfully married it with option offense and created a previously unseen hybrid in the nfl.
December 4th, 2012 at 12:04 pm
I sure hope that Tarver uses stronger words with his men when they discuss the defensive gameplan. I hope he’s not telling his men that Peyton Manning can’t be stopped. I’d like to think that there’s enough pride in the lockerroom that they would slap Tarver upside the head for making those kind of remarks. The word “cant” should not be a part of Tarver’s vocabulary. But it is, so now we know he is a clown hire. Even if you suspect you “can’t”, you don’t admit to it.

Even the worst of Raider teams manage to steal a game.
We’ve already stolen two. Maybe we got one more in us?
I can’t root for us to lose. It’s not in my nature. Logically speaking, it’s not in our best interest to win any more games. Get the best picks possible and clean house in the coaching dept.
But I always want them to win, no matter what, even if it means sacrificing draft position. Besides, teams that routinely finish in the bottom 15… you know, contenders… manage to have solid drafts year in and year out.

The formation with pistol and multiple backs is directly out of the baylor playbook, not nevada.
You have to now admit that not only has RGIII mastered the west coast offense that shanahn teaches but has successfully married it with option offense and created a previously unseen hybrid in the nfl.
===========================================
This is what we were talking about a while ago. I said they were running college offenses and you disputed it. They do run the Kyle/Mike Shanahan WCO but most of their success has been out of the pistol which is exactly what I said. And they are running Ault’s pistol with some variations.
Griffin III does a couple of things that really jumps out: lst off, RGIII plays INCREDIBLY fast. And what is most remarkable is he plays incredibly fast for a guy without a year in the league. That is pretty impressive. 2ndly, he is very, very accurate. That is also impressive. 3rdly, he makes very very good decisions. That is also very impressive. RGIII certainly has a very bright future in this league and Wash seemingly made the right decision to pay a kings ransom for him.
The NYG defense looked awfully confused out there by what Washington was doing. And obviously, they are not the only ones. But my point is Fewell, Rob Ryan and the new Eagle DC will spend basically their offseasons figuring how to stop that hybrid pistol.
Now let’s see how smart I am and see if Harbaugh starts incorporating that Wolf Pack pistol for Kaepernick, say in the last two-three weeks of the season, just in time for the playoffs. Remember you heard it here lst.

Can any Reggie supporter tell me what philosophy Reggie goes by? Al Davis philosophy ,to my knowledge, was to get the best athlete a plug them in. so that sometime meant the athlete he chose did not fit the schemes at times.
Trust me I am trying to move on from the Hue era. I just don’t know where Reggie is taking this Org. and his first crucial moves were disasters.

me too. Watching it happen is excrutiating. But necessary to cope and say goodbyes. It’s not like TV watching death. It’s very ugly, very painful, very tough thing to witness. But there is comfort in saying goodbye even when the person you are saying goodbye to can’t hear you. It’s a process.
I said it before, I think DA should skip this whole football week and deal with this family issue. I bet his family needs him a lot more than the Raiders do.

December 4th, 2012 at 12:30 pm
As bad as I feel for DA, he has to go. And it may not be up to Reggie.
The Knapp hire, if it was truly DA’s call, sealed his fate.
We are league worst on opening drives and league worst in 3rd quarter point differential, the two instances where coaches have the most direct influence on the plays on the field (1st drive with scripted plays and subsequent adjustments and the 1st drive of 3rd quarter after halftime adjustments).
These two areas are glaring examples of the ineptitude of the coaching staff.
You can make the argument for lack of talent but a team of talented superstarts will only go so far without a coach (whereas the team with less talent can go farther with better coaching).
Shuffling the O Line, getting rid of O Line coach, installing a scheme that virtually none of our 2011 players fit into and the one guy they get to be ZBS extraorinaire has been possibly the worst O Lineman.
And then there’s the defense. It’s worse than Bres’ D.
I’ll repeat: it’s worse than Bres’ D.
That side gets a bit of a pass because of circumstances beyond our control (Routt, our best corner — ouch — and our only edge rusher in Kam were cap casualties) but there is zero excuse for the offense going backwards.
December 4th, 2012 at 12:31 pm
I hope Dmac comes in and has a great game along with the rest of the year, so we can trick some other team into thinking hes an “elite” r.b. in the nfl, and they give us a 1st round pick for his broke down assss.

One thing that Peyton does that I wish Palmer would do is take over the team.
I’d like to see him on the sidelines yelling at his recievers and o-lineman…and maybe the coaches too telling them what he wants to do.
I think he is too concerned with being the nice guy team player now cuz if his rep after the Cincinnati thing.
He doesn’t have that cocky “i’m the man” attitude that guys like Peyton, Manning and Brees have.
He seems to just nod his head and go along with everything.
He needed to get pizzed off instead of worrying about not wanting to come off as a jerk.

Jon would even have more into about this team winning and bringing the Raiders back to glory.
Like I said JON GRUDEN is a competetive guy. He wants to cememnt his legacy and bring a team like the RAiders back to glory. THe nfl sucks when the raiders are not in the thick of things. Its like a military figure leading a organization back to the top.

December 4th, 2012 at 1:31 pm
I think Gruden is a great coach and I saw him work miracles with the Eagles as an OC.
Remember he was 8-8 his first two seasons in Oakland.
It took him three years with a much better start than the mess Reggie and DA inherited.
He also focused on building the lines with our high round picks:Darrell Russell, Leon Bender(passed away prior to playing),Stinchcomb, Collins and a third rounder in Jon Ritchie.
SEE THE FOCUS??
BLOCKING AND TACKLING.
THE LINES WERE GOOD ENOUGH TO WIN DIVISIONS WITH CAST OFFS at the skill spots like Wheatley, Crockett and Gannon.
If you listen carefully to what Tarver said he also refers to PLAYER ACQUISITION as one of the things that will be done in the offseason.
The coaches have been as professional and cordial as possible in answering the media regarding what we all know.
Our on field talent is way below NFL average at most positions.
As I said coaching stability is what is needed-not instability.
Mr Davis would never acknowledge that he had regressed in his talent acquisition capability.
The coaching churn for the last decade and THE RESULTS speak for themselves.
NO TALENT NO WINS.
That is why Reggie had to blow up the entire scouting department and buy computers.
It is also why this is a 3-5 year project.
It is also why you could never get an experienced HC to take the job last year. EVERYONE KNEW HOW BAD IT WAS.
AT LEAST WE ARE UNDERWAY WITH A REAL REBUILDING JOB.

GREG PAPA was just on 95.7 the game talking about this rumor.. Said last time GRUDEN came to Rickeys few yrs ago he had called papa and they all went down there.
Papa said GRUDEN openely talked about coming back to the Raiders and Papa was surpised to hear that.. Papa said Gruden described it as “UNFINISHED BUSINESS” also papa says he thinks Gruden would want to be the signal caller.
Papa then said Of course AL was still in charge, this was before the RAiders played the Redskins in that rainstorm.
in 2009 Al told Greg papa that GRUDEN had called him expressing that he wanted to come back. Jon had reached out to Al this was right before Al hired HUE in 2010. Papa said that HUE was really the coach in 2010.. but Cable had the title.
Greg told AL jokenly .. you would never hire JON back.. and AL said “im thinking about it” Im thinking about it”
Again Greg papa is saying this on 95.7 the game. Just letting u know. I really believe MARK DAVIS is gonna make a strong pitch for GRUDEN
—————
Everyone here knows my stance.
I didnt want to get rid of Hue…. but Hue forced his hand and made it so.
I dont want to get rid of DA…. we cant keep changing coaches. We just cant. More is gained with continuity.
But I’ve said since DAY 1…. I’ll gladly support Chucky returning home. Call it irrational nostalgia. Because, lets face it, it makes no sense. If we look at it logically, Chucky wont be the same without Al Davis. They both needed each other.
But I dont care. He’s the best coach we ever had in my lifetime. We never should have traded him. Its time to right a wrong and bring him home. And it just might happen, Mark is a fan just like us and he knows every game will be sold out when we know Chucky is in the house.
Gruden has wanted to come back for sometime, so has Gannon. Get them both in the building and Terrel Pryor on the field and watch this team turn everything around.

Rolando challenged DA to do something.. DA said lets go and Rolando backedown. Rolando also said nobody respected DA as a coach. NO VIC COTTO tells us something similar

Per source, Oakland #Raiders LB Rolando McClain went to coaches prior to suspension, about not being able to attend early morning meetings.
Victor Cotto@cottovic
Then, #Raiders McClain was lollygagging during practice, which infuriated D.Allen. The LB then shouted @ coach after Allen pulled

He’s played it before, he’s faster than Route, and get this, he a good tackler and seems to enjoy it.

The Oakland Raiders
The Oakland Raiders have signed FB/RB Jamize Olawale from the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad to their 53-man roster. Olawale played two years at North Texas, recording eight receptions for 88 yards and helping the Mean Green record 2,112 rushing yards as a senior. He transferred to North Texas from El Camino Junior College, the same school that Raiders FB Marcel Reece attended, in Torrance, Calif.

a LOT of guys contracts expire, including Shane Lechler. – they’ll need like 8 draft picks, 9 free agents – or 5 major ones and 4 mid-level types to come in.

CP3 is scheduled to make 15 million next year – Guaranteed. I doubt he’s going anywhere. Just keeping him means A LOT of players are going.
It wouldnt surprise me if they do the opposite and get more offensive weapons – Keenan Allen, Kyle Long, Johnathan Franklin to help him out…then just go the free agent route on defense.

BTW scouts compare DION JORDAN to ALDON SMITH and freakishly athletic like PIerre Paul.
also Aldon smith only had 5.5 sacks his final year in college..
now holds the record for the fastest sacks in two years. Has like 16 this season already.
Pierre paul.. we already know how he has turned out for a “project” coming out of the draft.
Meanwhile aaron curry was the safest pick in the draft one year.. Pass on TEO’
go pass rusher
***************************************
Aldon Smith’s sack totals are hieghtened due to the games they run up front. If he were asked to just come of the edge he wouldn’t be nearly as good. Basically Justin Smith gets more credit for Aldon’s sacks if you ask me. ASmith is basically running unblocked most of the time because teams refuse to not double JSmith.

December 4th, 2012 at 3:29 pm
The 2012 Raiders have been defined by irony more than anything else–a defensive minded head coach who hasn’t fixed the defense, DMAC’s relatively healthy season ruined by the ZBS, and the return of an OC to “improve” what had been a potent, if inconsistent, offense.
What I’m getting at is that if irony defines the Raiders, we shouldn’t be surprised if they somehow manage to end Manning’s career two days from now, which would incur the league’s wrath against us in the post Al Davis era.

Criner needs to ask Jerry Rice if he can be taught the legendary workouts and that hill No. 80 ran during his playing days.
It’s painfully obvious Criner isn’t a fleet-footed burner, but, neither was Rice.
If possible, Criner needs to get all the tape and ask the legend for pointers on technique.
Criner has natural ability (hands and body control) to be a very dependable target.

Streater and Criner will be nice. I was excited about criner the second we drafted him, cause I saw him at AZ and he is a physical, sure handed possesion type WR.
Streater looks like a potential #1 with some more reps under his belt. And undrafted.
Reg has done some good this year and had to make very difficult decisions.
One of those ‘I hope it pays off in the long run, gotta break some egges to make an omlette, will eat crow if this works’ kinda situations.

For what it’s worth, every year we get excited about new WR’s. Schilenz, Murphy, Ford, etc…. So I’m not too excited about Criner and Streater. They’re big guys, but so far all they’re good for is Fade routes.

Why single out the QB position with this logic? I say, bench Veldheer and play Bergstrom. Gotta see what we got here. Bench Myers and play Ausberry. He’s way more athletic, forget that Myers is having a top 10 season for a TE. Wheeler, have a seat, we need to see what Burnett can do. Carter, Houston, Shaughnessy, make some room for Crawford in the mix. Come to think of it, Lechler and Seabass are pretty highly paid, so let’s bring in some FA kickers off the street and let them have a couple of games worth of quicks. Maybe there’s a diamond in the rough there …

They’ll most likely trade down, and aquire a mid round 1st and a 2nd I’m sure, maybe more. I seriously doubt they’ll grab ONE player from the top 5 and then wait until the 3rd to pick again. Reggie said that Depth was our biggest issue, and he loves his picks. He’s gonna stock pile as many as possible…. Watch.

GRUDEN IS COMING BACK TO OAKLAND.
YEEEESSSSS.
“Hub Arkush of PFW announced at 5:30 pm CST. Jon Gruden is in talks right now to assume a prominent role with the Oakland Raiders.”

What they are saying:
NEW YORK (AP) — Comments on the Oakland Raiders by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):
___
OAKLAND RAIDERS (31)
Chris Berman (ESPN, 32) — Surprised that it’s this bad.
Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 32) — General manager Reggie McKenzie expected this to be a challenge. It is.
Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 30)
Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 32) — They simply are a really bad team right now and as a former Raider, it pains me to say that.
Bob Glauber (Newsday, 32) — Five straight losses and counting, and now a Thursday game against the Broncos. Just a complete mess at every level
Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 30) — Carson Palmer has passed for 300 yards six times this season and the Raiders have lost all six games. Oakland has lost five in a row and Palmer has 300-yard games in four of them.
Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 30) — When they talk about the Black Hole in Oakland they’re referring to the empty seats for the Raiders’ Dec. 16 date with Kansas City.
Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 31) — The NFL’s worst point differential resides in the East Bay.
Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 32) — Mark Davis should have expected these results when he took over. The Raiders aren’t quitters, they just aren’t good enough and without McFadden touching the ball 20-25 times a game they don’t have a chance.
John Lynch (Fox Sports, 32) — The Raiders turnaround has a long way to go … condolences to Dennis Allen and his family as they mourn the loss of his father.
Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 30) — Can things get worse in Oakland after a five-game losing streak? You bet — Denver (9-3) comes to the Bay Area for a Thursday night matchup.
Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 28) — Have they begun packing up the U-hauls yet?

NOT just a rumor.
Hub Arkush is confident Gruden deal is in the works.

Reggie’s role ‘uncertain’ going forward.
December 4th, 2012 at 3:49 pm
I think Reggie was skeptical that we’d “Win the race” in the offseason but, figured lets roll with it and see how we do. Then it became obvious that we weren’t anywhere near “Race” ready, and it became a scramble to get tires and parts from another pit crew just so we could finish the damn race. When it’s over, the car is gonna get stripped and junked….starting from scratch.

Why do people constantly call Richard Seymore a quitter when he brought a swagg and tuffness to Oakland that we had truly been lacking. His knees and his body are battle torn and his body just cant do what his mind is commanding it to do.There’s a difference when you are 22,23 years old and young in the NFL as to where you’re 34,35.He was brought in to instill tuffness to the younger D.linemen and lets face it other than Lamar Houston the rest are lacking.Bryant and Bilukidi dont make any impact or disruptive plays, hell they dont even show flashes.Seymore was brought in to show these younger guys the way the Alzados showed the Longs and Townsends and either they just dont have it or they dont want to learn(like the younger generation of today that think they knows it all, well you need to know your history in order to get where you,re going.)I myself personally commend Rich for his contributions to the D.I watched him take over several games in silver and black, but you have to have a supporting cast to back you up and go to war with you…

He might not have a trading partner. Almost all of the teams that trade up into the top ten do so for a QB, and the only way Oakland could get the rights to Geno Smith is by losing out.
There are no other top ten QBs coming out.

Fire DA now
December 5th, 2012 at 12:32 am
What has DA done to deserve another year? I have been on Knapp’s crappy offense all year but since DA stuck by this POS it falls I him. He is in charge, he is no defensive genius, I rather have brea back it this point. Fire him and get back Gruden at all cost. Make it happen Mark and I’m putting down myomeres go season tickets because I won’t watch another team coached by DA
