Raiders-Broncos game televised locally

By Steve Corkran
Tuesday, December 4th, 2012 at 6:50 pm in Oakland Raiders.

The Raiders game against the Denver Broncos sold enough tickets to ensure it being televised locally, a team official said.
Therefore, fans not attending the Thursday night game at the Coliseum also will get a chance to see if the Raiders can snap a five-game losing streak and their first look at Pro Football Hall of Fame-bound quarterback Peyton Manning in a Broncos jersey.
The Raiders sold enough tickets to avoid a blackout of local TV for 13 straight regular-season home games before last Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns failed to reach the threshold.
The game will be televised on NFL Network and KGO-TV in the Bay Area.

I agree that DMo’s play has always been inconsistent. But I disagree that he’s nothing more than a big play threat just because he fell to the 5th round.

I do think that coaching is an issue. He’s not beast WR like a Calvin or Dez, and never will be. But he can make plays regularly if he gets his head right and coached up right. Maybe losing Sanjay Lal was a negative for DMo?

Anyway, I think if he continues to watch more of Streater and Criner from the sidelines making plays that will motivate him to step up his game and play with the kind of intensity and focus he needs to be the playmaker we’ve seen at times.

  • Priesttj12

IMO if Mark Davis would even hear Jon Gruden ask for part ownership without hanging up the phone before it got out of his mouth. I would have very serious concerns about his level of aptitude as an NFL owner.

The notion in and of itself is sooo freakin stupid it makes me wonder what the hell else is bouncing around in your heads.

Yes! We all know that DMAC is injury prone, but I can’t believe how many fans are picking Knapp over DMAC.
He clearly isn’t a zone running back, and isn’t a fit for what DA and company are trying to install on offense.
Hope he tears it up next season on another team out of our division.
Some team will utilize him correctly.

You guys crack me up every year about this time for about the last decade!

Gruden is not coming back to coach football for Oakland next year period! McKenzie worked with Gruden in Greenbay. So do you think Mark Davis is just going to bring him back to make operation decisions over McKenzie? Also, like Dennis Allen or not McKenzie brought him in as his man, his coach. Do you think he is going to change that after one year? Nope! Lastly, we may not like anything Dennis Allen has done this year but people who get paids lots of money to know football way better than we do, think he is one of the up and coming young coaches.

Now lets look at chuckys side of the story. He gets paid big dollars to talk about his passion and love “football” with out dealing with all the headaches and long hours of coaching a team. Gruden is a big ticket himself. He has figured out a way to generate income with out working directly for a franchise team. He does commercials, interviews the rookies, talk football and go home and sleep. How quick do you really think he is to jump back into coaching, studying game film with other coaches and sleeping at the coliseum?

So with all that said, I don’t think Gruden is back in silver and black any time soon. He ain’t coming back now!!!

Stop buying into this fools gold!

“GOOD COACHING BRINGS OUT THE BEST IN PLAYERS.”

I’d be interesting in knowing what players you (or others) believe were on our active/physically able to perform roster three/four weeks ago who would have made any significant difference in our won-lost record with a different head coach or assistant coach. I submit that the scores of the game might have, could have, may have been a little closer with another coach (I am very unsure of that) but there would have been no significant difference (in other words, we wouldn’t have won more than 1 more game, if that) with the greatest coach in the world.

Gotta love the value and additions of Streater and Criner to the team… Get J Ford back next year and someone who knows the position of WR to coach them… Timmy Brown looking for a job??

As far as DMAC goes… As much as I love him when he’s beasting, he only beasts a couple games a year.. That too low production vs. cost to keep him here… I say see what kind of value a trade could bring. If it isnt enough, switch him to a slot receiver, run end arounds and maybe catch some swing passes out of the backfield. He just isnt durable to be your workhorse RB.

I don’t see us carrying Ford next year. He was out enjoying the “life” too much this offseason. I think that’s what led to him being so injury prone. Just not well condititioned. This is the NFL where you have to train 12 months a year. No offtime-playtime. Ford didn’t realize that and he’s probably looking for a job next year. Good luck to him on that.

As for DMC, lets wait and see if we can get a real OC in here. One that can actually use a talented RB. This offensive system we got is tailored for less talented RB’s who slip thru the cracks as late round picks and UFDA’s. Like Alfred Morris in WAS for example. But DMAC needs a system tailored for him.

Biggest mistake I think was made by Knapp was forgetting that the offense flows thru and around DMC.

Geeez–if Mark Davis actually dumped Reggie as gm with only one year under his belt, if Mark or Reggie dumped DA with only one year under his belt, it would establish for all players who are Raiders now and in the future that the franchise is always going to undermine the hierarchy who is supposed to rule over the players.

From then on, every player will say, “Just like the old man….we screw up, someone else pays, so we’ll just continue to coast and draw our checks and the Old Man’s son will continue to purge the guys above us. We can kick back and be as bad or as mediocre as ever.”

And you guys, the same guys who pulled your hair out and every coach’s attempt to discipline players while being undermined by Al, are in support of a purge now?

    You’re all crazy.

How’s this for an explanation? Mark Davis likes Gruden. Gruden likes Mark and some of the other people associated with the Raider org. They visited when Gruden was in town. They reminisced. They talked FOOTBALL. Gruden gave Mark an assessment of a few players, they shot the bull.

    Period.
