Raiders sign FB/RB to active roster

The Raiders filled the vacancy on their 53-man roster by signing fullback/running back Jamize Olawale from the Dallas Cowboys practice squad.
Olawale takes the place of suspended middle linebacker Rolando McClain, who is out until Dec. 10, at the least.
Teams are permitted to sign players from another team’s practice squad provided they place that player on the active roster.
The Raiders expect back running backs Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson in time for Thursday night’s game against the Denver Broncos.
Good thing, too, for their primary replacement the past four games, Marcel Reece, is hobbled by hamstring and quadriceps injuries right now.

We should all be thankful for monday night football, especially us raider fans.

The best thing about monday night football aside from the talent on the field is listening to gruden talk about qb’s and how the game is played.

The last two weeks have featured the two qbs that represent a comlete paradigm shift and the future and cutting edge in what is the changing face of the nfl. Cam newton and RGIII. they also featured the offenses and how they are evolving to suit the players which causes nightmare for the defense.

John gruden pointed out the complexity of what GRiFFIN does, and the offense, he highlighted cams ability to audible make line calls and manipulate the defense both post and pre snap.

Whta really came across was grudesn enthusisam for what these two qbs bring to the table and the offenses abilty to challenge the defense in ways never seen in the nfl. Gruden sounded as if he would kill to have one of those guys, and would be like a mad scientist devising ways to use their unique talents.

We can only hope as raider fans that knapp was wacthing, and more importantly that mckenzie and davis were watching. Why?

So that they can begin to envision some of the things we could do with pryor. If knapp is not qualified then bring in a guy next year that can use pryor and build an offense around his skill set. I thik pryor though not the polished passer that cam was in college, is certainly better than many guys starting in the nfl tody, and a better player than lienart.

Lets get a creative offensive coach that can follow the blue print used by seattle and washington.

RGIII russel wilson cam newton the wave of the future!!!

Will tp6 fit in with this group?

  • MiamiRaider78

The only way I’ll enjoy a Raiders win is, if Manning gets hit so hard that he has to carry his head (while in the helmet) to the sidelines=career ending

Both tackles get rolled up on and tear anything in their knees that ends in cl.

Champ Bailey gets shanked after deciding to do a Lambeau leap into the black hole after returning a Palmer pass in the 4th quarter for a TD.

Elway leans over his suite in Oakland and Al Davis ghost pushes him over to his untimely death.

    Did I miss anything?

Last season the Vikings had a shot at one of the top two picks…..instead, they beat Washington and ended up with the #3 pick.

Was a late season victory over Washington that no one will remember in 6 months worth losing out on luck, RGII or the bounty of picks the Rams got for RGIII?

    Pyrrhic victory.

The rebuilding strategy elected by the new regime reveals that the team is not long for Oakland.

The new regime understood that the defense was very low on talent and needed to be rebuilt. They also understood that it was so bad that this season they were not going to the playoffs. Based on that understanding, Reggie decided he might as well as tear down the already effective offense into a zone blocking team which was more to his liking. This would not be a bad strategy except for the fact that you have a fan base which after six dreadful seasons, had finally experienced progress and was desperate to see more. Make no mistake, the defense was so bad that even if the offense performed at the 2011 level the team would still probably be no better that 8-8. But psychologically, that would have been far more palatable than a four or five win season.

I don’t think you can understate the extent to which this regression has turned off the fans. They now know that it will be two to three years before the Raiders are competitive. More importantly, they also know that Los Angeles beckons and that opportunities down south undoubtedly inform the decision to choose a rebuilding strategy which reflects zero consideration for the local fan base and is based upon having a competitive team just in time to be marketed in a new city and stadium. In short, this team is gone after next season.

Emotional: I want to win every game
Smart: I want the best pick possible especially since I don’t have any impact players.

I dont think this is true.

Vick took most of his hits the lats two years in the pocket behind a horrific line.

Qbs have never been asked to do what cam wilson and rgIII are doing in nfl history, and they are holding uip fine.

Mat schaub and mathew stafford are not in that mold yet they get hurt often. There doesnt seem to be more danger for runnig qbs at all.

These new qbs have played this style of football all through college, and like RgIII said “its still football”. In other words the guys know that they can run and be effective.

Its on the coaches not to run them into the ground and use the qb run only as an accent piece and not a staple.

i believ that washington and seattle have the best balance in this regard.

TP6 will be fine, and should not concern himself about injuries, they happen to every qb regardless of style

  • DMAC

I like RG3 more, but would rather have Luck, because he’s built to sustain more hits than RG3.

I’m not saying he is a better pro, but he was a better prospect. That’s a fact.

I’ll take Luck over RG3. Luck is built for the long haul. A Brady or Peyton type who can sustain a franchise for 15 years. RG3 is a brilliant talent, but relies on his athleticism too much and that always wears down and fades with all the hits he’s bound to take diving for yards. RG3 is much funner to watch and more entertaining. But to me its a no brainer to take Luck over RG3 to set a franchise up for a long run of success.

I actually see this as being the most likely scenario. Palmer will start Thursday, and I only see him getting pulled from the game if we’re down 35 points at any rate. Probably won’t see Pryor till next week. He’ll have another couple of days to prepare for KC….
