Broncos weigh in on what ails Raiders

The Raiders came within one win of edging the Denver Broncos for the AFC West title last season. Today, the teams seem light years apart.
The Broncos beat the Raiders 26-13 on Thursday night for their eighth straight victory and improved to 10-3. The Raiders dropped to 3-10 after losing for the sixth straight time.
Broncos standout cornerback Champ Bailey said he sees a team that is in the process of finding the proper players for their schemes and adjusting to new coaching.
“It’s a combination of a lot of things,” Bailey said of the Raiders free-fall from 8-8 last season. “Once they get their personnel that they want and what coach (Dennis) Allen wants, things will start working out. It starts from the top. At some point, they’ll get it together.”
But when? The Raiders are in their 10th straight season of not posting a winning record or making the playoffs.
The more they try, the worse things seem to get. Meanwhile, the Broncos went from 4-12 in 2010 to 8-8 last season to a legitimate Super Bowl contender this season.
Allen, the coordinators and the players maintain that the Raiders are talented enough to win right now.
Broncos nose tackle Justin Bannan agreed that the Raiders don’t lack for talent. It’s a slew of other things conspiring against them right now.
“You have to understand, they lost their owner, they changed management, they got a new head coach,” Bannan said. “They got a combination of stuff happening. In today’s world, there’s no patience. But it’s going to take patience. You’re not just going to flip over like that and progress.”
Bannan said signing quarterback Peyton Manning helped the Broncos make the quantum leap from an average team to the one that is running roughshod over the league right now.
The Broncos also have Bailey and linebackers Von Miller and Elvis Dumervil playing at a high level on defense.
Broncos linebacker D.J. Williams said the Raiders have the talent, but it takes more than talent to win games.
“In terms of pure numbers, they are the biggest, fastest team in the league,” Williams said. “But in the NFL, every team has talent. It’s about jelling and getting on the same page.”
Raiders owner Mark Davis told Allen last month that the way the Raiders are playing “isn’t good enough.” Davis added that he wants to see progress.
The Raiders and Allen have three more games to impress Davis. There’s nothing to say that Allen is assured of being back next season.
Bailey said the Raiders would make a mistake if they don’t keep Allen beyond this season.
“He did some good things for us here,” said Bailey, in reference to Allen being the Broncos defensive coordinator in 2011. “I got to give him a lot of credit. He earned that job and he deserves to keep trying to put those winning seasons together. He’s a good football mind.”

If you go with a drafting a D Linemen within the first 3-4 picks in a draft, than you draft a pass rushing DE or OLB.

Not a one dimensional fat two gap NT/DT.

You must havent seen Star play, he will be picked ahead of Teo, like I said Teo will be exposed by Bama in the title game with Womack,Jones, and Fluker coming at him. Ask Jarvis Jones about that Bama oline.

That’s correct, DA and Tarver want to be Multiple but they don’t have players for either scheme, next year would prove how good or bad they are when they get a real chance to bring in players, let’s see how good Reg is when he finally drafts a player on the first day

This is where the Raiders have posted a big FAIL.

“Bannan said signing quarterback Peyton Manning helped the Broncos make the quantum leap from an average team to the one that is running roughshod over the league right now.”

    again.

It’s a QB league. It’s not that complicated.
Playoff teams have them (hello former 1-15 Colts!), non-playoff teams don’t.

  • alex7

    Broncos have:

Manning, Von Miller, Dumerville, Champ, D. Thomas…

    1st round picks that produced.

We DON’T have that type of talent. Broncos were saying right things.

  • Jackie Bibby

Yea he helpef denver but he aint helpin us. Get’em outta here… they say keep DA so we can continue to be their whippin boy. Fire Allen now!

    Best Moment of the Night

Mike Mayock “attempting” to talk crap about AL DAVIS on the broadcast…..claiming the Fans should be patient and that Reggie has no talent on the team….that the Raiders have screwed up their drafts the last 10 years…..

Very next play, DHB goes 56 yards for a TD!

Now Mike Mayock and Mike Huff have something in common other than their first names….

Yeah I liked that..even Nessler was giving him crap.

    from pft…

It’s been a difficult proposition this season for teams to win on the road on Thursday nights. Then again, most of those teams didn’t have to play the Oakland Raiders either.

really really sad what the three stooges have done to this team…

  • MaddenRaiderisadouchebag

LMAO at you Corkran! Yes, Dennis Allen is so wonderful!…All these teams beat the living crap out of us then praise our staff…What did Bailey say after we hung 59 points on him in Dungver? I’m sure they would LOVE for Allen to stay.

  • THE BLACKHOLE

Why do people keep saying he have big fast players… they are gone now. Our leading receiver is a 6’2 “, 5.6 40 Tight end. Streater now is our stating WR and a bunch of small minded idiots on D.

  • MaddenRaiderisadouchebag

BTW, Teo will be worthless without a DL on this level…Not hatin on the guy but he IS NOT worthy of a top 3 pick.

  • Al_is_theraiders

    more pft….

Everyone figured the Broncos would have an easy time on Thursday night in Oakland.

So Da cares more about scheme than winning right? So he must go, go with what works and what will keep you your job not some scheme that doesnt fit your team loser! Get Da outta here

  • beach

Swing and a miss for Reggie on his first choice for Head Coach. Bring in the fan favorite: Jon Gruden!!!

  • mcfadden20.

Remember DA and Tarver said they want to be Multiple? There’s no player on this D that they can use in both 3-4 and 4-3 so starting with drafting DE Damontre Moore makes a lot of sense

  • Al_is_theraiders

Teo’s good, but we need an edge rusher more than anything. I don’t think Te’o goes nearly as high as some of the experts think. He’ll go top half of the first round, for sure. But I don’t think it’ll be top 5.

  • UCLA Raiders

How low can this team go? I thought Art Shell’s Raiders were awful but i think this 2012 DA team is worse. When our divisional enemy, Denver players feel sorry for Raiders after embarssing them on national TV it’s time to call it a night. Im not sure about you but I’m embarrassed to show up to work tomorrow because of this team and my association with it.

Thank you Mark Davis!!! Thank you Reggie! And thank you Dennis Allen!

Ya the broncos just want to keep on beating RAIDERS 2x a year with DA as coach.

DA seems like a good guy but let him go coach TYLER TEXAS State.. he is not right for the Raiders.

I’d take tom cable right now over DA.. he wouldnt be taking no shyyt from these donkies. At least we’d be playing with some emotion

Remember what I have been saying:

    Draft position & coaching shakeup!

    It is our only hope.

Lose out for the rest of the season. A win against KC will do more damage than good as long as it has draft position consequences.

At least I won some money tonight on this game. I’m not ashamed. First time I ever bet against the Raiders.

The way I look at it is it was pretty much a slam dunk (though much tighter than I would’ve expected) and the Raiders are better off losing right now. One, it’s our only chance to hope Mark’s hand gets forced to make major coaching and/or GM changes. And two, it’ll improve our draft position.

  • Al_is_theraiders

the thing that really bothers me is intelligent raider fans knew this was going to be a disaster the moment reggie was hired…i dont know what it was but it was a bad feeling…

    =================================

Exactly. We haven’t seen any glimmer of hope. The team gets outplayed week in and week out. We needed a spectacular come from behind and some breaks on defense at the end of the game to beat Pitt. Jax could have EASILY been a loss if not for some injuries and KC is KC. Probably the only team we may be better than.

  • RaidersAllday_LtsGeTit

WOW another game where the RAIDERS DIDNT EVEN BOTHER TO SHOW up.. NO EMOTION, NO DIRECTION on OFFENSE.. just like a sandlot pickup game.

A house full of hall of famers and it was zero emotion. Sorry howie long, and Rod woodson even had to watch that.

Back home after another poor loss. Some cool things did happen. I got to meet Roger Goodell and take a picture with him and Mark Davis storming through the Club seats to a waiting elevator as one of the fans shouting at him over and over again “Bring back Chucky”
    Mark was not amused.

In this economy, you gotta do whatever you can to make a buck.

BTW, I expect KC to beat us, they won’t blow us out, but they will win, this better force Mark to make a coaching change. I’m ok with giving Reggie a mulligan, but not Tits.

  • mcfadden20.

Bunch of losers , who think there is nothing wrong with the talent level just because we beat up on weak teams on our way to consecutive 8-8 seasons, oh but we didn’t lose like this blah blah blah , etc etc, stfu and actually look forward to improving the team with a new GM who would finally get to make his mark on the team with a first rd pick and actually money to grab a legit player in FA, and D coaches will finally have some one they can build their schemes around instead of going out there with the misfits , only guy you guys should be calling out is KNapp

Mark Davis chose his words wisely. If he was going to keep Allen, he would have told everybody to be patient. This will take some time. No. He said that he is disappointed and apologized to the fans. I am sure it is win 2 of the final 3 games or we have a new Head Coach coming in.
