End 3rd qtr: Broncos 26, Raiders 7

Matt Prater’s 20-yard field goal and a gift touchdown courtesy of the special teams and the offense put the Broncos in charge in the third quarter, which has been a disaster for the Raiders most of the season.
After Oakland forced a Denver field goal attempt despite a first-and-goal at the 1, Mike Goodson elected to return a kickoff deep in the end zone.
He only made it to the 8, and moments later Carson Palmer was the victim of a sack fumble by Von Miller, who blew past Khalif Barnes. The resulting Denver recovery set up a 1-yard run by Knowshon Moreno.
The Broncos later added a 33-yard field goal by Prater to cap a 13-0 quarter and are being outscored 139-51 in the third quarter this season.

I’ve played just about every sport in my life. I’ve played for GREAT coaches and I’ve played for awful ones. They set the tone. Great coaches always have teams that win or at least overachieve. Lousy coaches have teams like the 2012 Raiders.
There’s a reason Jim Harbaugh has won at every stop he’s been at (San Diego, Stanford, 49ers). There’s a reason Arkansas was a top 10 program under Petrino and then became awful immediately after he was fired.
I can go on and on and on. But I’ll stop there.
FYI, Bill Romanowski said on the radio today that a really good coach can get an NFL team 4 extra wins per season. I think it’s fair to say Romo’s played sports before.

Because Pryor is a pipe dream. Pryor needs to go to his “well” every play, the run option. That won’t cut it. Not here, not anywhere in the NFL. The kid can’t audible out of a paper bag. The coaching staff has said so by saying nothing and keeping him inactive.

Camera on broncos bench and many players gathered around manning and discussing / nodding / communicating.

The main problem with this team being competive is the offense (i.e. Knapp). There is no reason why this offense should be this bad. Its just bad preperation, bad playcalling and bad execution.

The biggest difference in the Raiders, by far, from this year compared to the last two 8-8 years is the drop off of the running game. From top #2 and #7 to almost dead last in the NFL. Palmer was not supposed to have to carry this offense. Everyone knows he is not the same guy who can carry a team like back in 2006. The coaches botched the O-line, misused the RB’s, oversaw the regression of both Moore and DHB. Not to mention have helped minimize our most effective player in DMac.

Alex, reggie could have cut seymour and saved 7.5 mil, instead he does not cut him, give him a new contract and when he is cut next year it hits our cap by 5.5 mil, Reggie surprisingly franchises branch then signs him long term which hurts our cap space, Reggie restructured Palmers contract to pay him 15 mil guaranteed next year, then Reggie signs Briesel which when cut hits our cap by 2.7 mil next year. Add in the whiffs with bartell and the secondary and its obvious he’s over his head. Last year Mayock was singing the praises of these same players because we were very competitive esp on offense and winning games. Beacuse we are losing, he’s now blaming personnel.

Despite Mayocks graphic….Hue Jackson had most of these same guys on this roster last year and was still one game away from playoffs and had to deal with the same bust draft picks as DA and McK.

Alex, your missing my point,it wasnt about who reggie could sign this year..its the moves reggie made that hurt us next year. the branch long term deal, seymour new contract, briesel signing, and palmer restructuring are going to have a big negative impact next year. all these were avoidable and without them maybe we would be 2-11 instead of 3-10. Reggie missed the mark this year,imo

Manti Te’o should be the pick or a trade down to pick Te’o to be the new leader of the defense next year.
Davis and McK need to get Gruden back here and start getting serious about winning again and having this franchise be relevant again.

they forced 3 FGs inside the Red zone against Peyton Manning with scrub corners, and got a pick.
I mean, they werent garbage, Palmer turned the ball over in Raider territory leading to an easy TD when the score was 13-7.
They are a few draft picks short. They may not be as bad as this, but we wont know, since Allen may be a dead man walking, anyway.

Think Gruden could turn around Palmer, if they get a valid, solid running game, and get the defense to back the offense, and get off on third downs. They held them to 26 points and Broncos had the ball for at least half of the 2nd half…defense was on field way too long
