How about instead of trying to get guys to fit Greg Knapps offense, we just get rid of Greg Knapp?

********

Isn’t that what we have all been saying? But we may not get our wish this time. The need to stress committment to coaches and continuity could well be the party line this offseason. They don’t want to be seen as kneejerk reactionists like the last decade. I don’t like Knapp either. I want him fired too. But blog opinion and $2.41 will still only get you a tall dark roast coffee at Starbucks.
-----------

I don't think commitment to coaches and continuity apply to the worst offensive play caller in NFL history.

your take doesnt matcht match the 19/32 59.4 cmp% he posted.

You must have missed his 72 yard perfectly thrown rocket shot to criner, that had as much “zip’ as you are going to see in the nfl, and he did on the run.

Did you have the sound down when he payed the lions? Gruden pointed out on more than one occasion how pryor WENT THROUGH HIS READS AND FULL RPOGRESSIONS. you probably didnt watch at all.

pryor also threw receivers open by using back shoulder technique, and manipulated the secondary with eyes and created passing lanes.

sorry but the game film and numbers simply contradict what you are trying to say about him.
************
You obviously didn’t watch it. BOTH of his long TD’s to Criner were prayers that Criner made plays on. Pryor said himself that they were ducks and that Criner really saved his ass on those. The 76 yarder was thrown about 20 yards from the LOS and it was an overthrow, Criner made an amazing finger tip catch and did the rest himself. The other 39 yarder was an ill advised underthrown into coverage that Criner also made an outstanding play on.

Feel free to watch them again, and judge for yourself

http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2012082553/2012/PRE3/lions@raiders#menu=highlights&tab=analyze

Oh and without those 2 plays, Pryor was 17/30 56.6% completion (56% isn’t very good, contrary to mistics opinion) for 136 yards. Thats 8 yards per completion. Also not very good. Like I said those 2 plays alone totally skewed the stat line. Take them away and suddenly Pryor is pretty mediocre. I would NEVER call 17/30 for 136 yards and 0 tds ‘outstanding’
==========

lol still trying to take plays off the board as if they never happened.

First off If criner made a finger tip catch the ball had to be within his reach. so clearly pryor deserves half of the credit for throing the ball where criner could get it. this is the same argument you made when jc hit ford to beat kc the old "he bailed him out" argument. Didnt hold water then doesnt now.

Even if you did take them off (in you bizzaro alternate universe) the numbers left behind are still solid for a a guy that is seeing the field for the first time.

Any other rookie qb posting those numbers would greatly encourage the staff and team, and would warrant more playing time. ask ponder gabbert locker and kappy.

I diagree that 8 yards per completion is "bad" in fact that is outstanding

here are the top ten

Robert Griffin III, 8.28

Cam Newton, 8.26

Alex Smith, 7.98

Peyton Manning, 7.89

Tom Brady, 7.74

Matt Ryan, 7.70

Josh Freeman, 7.56

Russell Wilson, 7.55

Drew Brees, 7.53

Aaron Rodgers, 7.53

where is carson palmer on this list? # 17

so you can clealry see that the nfl considers 8 yards per pass very good.

By the way did you notice who tops the list rgIII and newton

wilson & freeman also in the top ten along with names we expect like manning brady brees and rodgers.

trade DMC straight up for Alex Smith?

Talk about a tweeker and a bucket of coke. This isn’t even rational.

>. its rational if the team cuts palmer. i would trade McAnkle for a pack of smokes at this point

For everyone who wont even give Pryor a chance. i wish I could have had your opinion prior to the season on Andrew Luck, RGIII, Wilson, and tannehill..Arent they rookie qbs? Or are they 26 years old like the guy we drafted in the 3rd round. Give Pryor a chance. I laugh when a guy said reggie doesnt want to play Pryor bc he worth a 7th round pick and doesnt want to risk it, LOL..Ill risk a 7th round pick just in case Pryor does something no one expects him to do.

>. why would Pryor play when they are paying palmer 10 mil+ to be the starter? you don't pay 1o mil to somebody for being a backup. Pryor won't start here unless palmer goes down with an injury.

Alex Smith is like Trent Dilfer. You don’t send him to save a team, you just hope he doesn’t cost your top 5 defense a game.

> well i think Alex Smith is better suited to run this WC/NBS or whatever it is due to his mobility. Palmer has played well this year all things considered but to have a polished experienced QB like smith who can ALSO run when he has to has to be a bonus.

718,

But wasn't it supposed "washed up players" and "head cases" that defined the Raiders when they reached the point of becoming the winningest organization in all of sports?

I know what u are saying though.

I also know teams can make quick turnarounds like the niners, and the colts and rams this yr., and the rams did it with a qb who is much worse statistically than the one we have currently.

The "right way" doesn't have to be the slowest way.
