Raiders-Chiefs game will be televised

By Steve Corkran
Friday, December 14th, 2012 at 2:40 pm in Oakland Raiders.

Sunday’s game between the Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs will be televised locally, a Raiders spokesman said.
The Raiders on Thursday were granted a one-day extension in an effort to sell enough tickets to satisfy the league’s blackout policy. The Raiders reached the 85 percent threshold in time to avert a second blackout this season.
This marks the seventh time in eight games this season that the Raiders will be televised. The figure stands at 15 of 16 over the past two seasons.

Wish Stewart would have gotten more touches, now can’t even suit up so more 2yrd runs by Dmac. Enough excuses for Glass Legs, Adrian Peterson has a worse Qb and same crappy line and he straight balls. Dmac and Seymour way higher on my Sh&*t list than Palmer and Allen.

    GO RAIDERS!!!!!

    ————–

It seem’s Stewart has turned into the latest “Sterling Moore” of the team.

In the last decade we’ve had quite a lot of fringe players that the fan bases has latched on to for whatever reason. Moore, Stevie Brown, Nick Miller, and now Stewart.

Although, Stewart looks like a real talent. Im actually perfectly fine with moving forward with him as the starter for 2013.

Trade DMC. He’s too soft. If what Norco Bob is saying about him, he has no business with our team.

I still say the fake FG Baltimore ran on us when they were up like 50 was the low point in the season. And we just took it. At least when the refs stuck it to DA and company in Cincy the d-line lashed out and showed some ballz. But the Raiders just got punked in Baltimore, and truth be told, Baltimore is not that good of a team this year.

Having Pryor active on game day in itself, would have made D.Cords take into consideration the threat when planning against our offense.

Actually having Pryor line up next to Palmer and then splitting him out and going long, could have worked to stretch the field and as a decoy.

    But no. lol

I agree with everything you wrote.

But none of the rational semi’s here think he’s the “savior” at the moment. We just want to see what we have with him. Nothing more.

    >>>>

The more you agree with me the smarter I think you are. lol

I would love to see what he has… same as players like Ausberry (anyone see that Myers is so far at the bottom of PFF’s run blocking amongst TE that nobody is even close to second worse?)

I honestly don’t think Knapp has a clue what to do with all this authority on offense beings DA is a defensive coach.

    He’s choking on the responsibility.

    ————————-

I dont need PFF to know what Meyers is in the run blocking game. Anyone that has read my contributions to this blog knows that Ive been calling out Meyers since week 3. He cant block. The film dont lie.

It’s funny too, because when Zack Miller was here, Meyers was our “blocking TE” and Zack was the receiving TE. And now Meyers is supposedly the guy with the best hands? Two dropped TD passes this year (one resulting in a INT) is all I needed to see. Im over him.

Ausberry has shown good promise. He should be getting a lot of playing time during this “evaluation” period. That is, if we were to actually have a “evaluation period”. The staff is completely wasting the opportunity with Berg’s, Pryor, and Aus. Which is weird considering they arent wasting it in checking out Bilikudi, Criner, and Streater. It’s head scratching.

  • nycraider

root for the win. i doubt reggia or DA will be gone. the best we can hope for is knapp is gone. they are setting up pryor to fail and i wouldnt be shocked if they only gave him one play or didnt play him at all.
also for all the smug semis who guarantee tp6 is not a good qb, i would have loved to hear your thoughts on all the rookie qbs prior to the season.

Garrard would be the perfect guy now if we want to cut Palmer. We can have him here as either insurance while TP starts, or a great guy to play while we groom a future starter. A player twice as good as CP at less than half the cost. Like stealing!

    ————————–

Garrard is not nearly as good as Palmer, let alone “twice as good,” that’s the reason he gets paid peanuts. Bringing Garrard in would be the equivalent of bringing back the Josh McCown-Daunte Culpepper year. That’s basically where he’s at at this point.

Let me guess some of the other stop-gap guys you like for 2013:
    - Vince Young
    - Troy Smith
    - Byron Leftwich
    - Jason Campbell
    - Donovan McNabb
    - Joe Webb

    Any others?

BTW, Carson Palmer is going to surpass 4,000 yards passing on the season today. The first time a Raiders QB has done that since Rich Gannon won the MVP award in 2002.

We talk about careful planning in regards to roster building, coaches etc. and how careful planning leads to championships etc. and all that’s true, but how much just simply comes down to luck.

Look at GB. Did they carefully plan of Aaron Rodgers? Nope.

Rodgers fell in their lap at # 22 in the draft. He could have easily gone to any other team. You could say he is the single most decisive factor in their success.

How about Brady? 6th rd. draft pick and arguably one of the greatest of all time? Is New England a supposed dynasty without him?

How much of a genius was Belichik before Brady?

I think Pats are good org w/o Brady, but THIS good?

Dumb luck with those org’s playing a major role.

I’d like to think we could get some too one of these days.

    =====

This would make sense if it weren’t for the hard evidence of games by Cassells and Flynn. Both show that the system and surrounding talent can make mediocre QBs look great.

Belichik’s skill is building an offense that is always stacked in OL talent and that fit his system. His passing scheme is complex and requires a QB that is superior in the skull first, physical skills second. Give a QB that can make the complex reads all the time in the world, and he will call the right adjustments to let guys like Welker and Gronk find the soft spots in the coverage all the time.

Current NFL QBs that would be Hall of Fame candidtates if they landed into Brady’s shoes: Fitzpatrick, Ryan, Schaub, Brees, Rodgers, Hasselback, either Manning, and yes Palmer. They all have the high football IQ to shred in that system. Most have better arms than Brady too so could make some of throws that he cannot.

How could you miss listing Tavaris Jackson? He’d be a Pro Bowler in Oakland!

What about Seneca Wallace? He’s available right now, and still in football shape after only being cut a few months ago.

As another option, maybe see what Akili Smith is up to. He may be up there in the years, but has low mileage on his body after being out of the league for so long.

    ————————————

This is an interesting take. I don’t think it’s necessarily fair to minimize the accomplishments of a Tom Brady, but there’s probably more validity to this than many would be willing to admit.

Ultimately you can only judge guys on what they have actually done over the long haul. So Brady is for sure a slam-dunk Hall of Famer and has a place at the table in the conversation of best QBs of all time.

One thing you nailed was about the Pats’ offensive line. If you ever watch the Pats play it’s astounding how much time and how clean of a pocket Brady typically has to work with. They do a great job of pass protection and of mixing up their throws, getting off a ton of quick ones to Welker and Hernandez which frustrates the pass rush because they have no time to get there, and also taking their shots down field. Just an incredibly well orchestrated passing game.

With that in mind, if we can get the first pick in the draft, even though pass rusher is our biggest area of need, I don’t see many great pass rushers out there so I advocate drafting the Texas A&M LT, Luke Joeckel. I realize we already have Veldheer, but I say kick one of those two guys over to the right side. Then go out and upgrade the two G positions in free agency. All the experts say you’ve got to develop at least one thing you can hang your hat on. I say if we’re in a position to get Joeckel that one thing should be a stellar offensive line with a foundation of Veldheer-Wiz-Joeckel.

  • MaddenRaiderisadouchebag

Here’s what Baltimore has done since hanging 55 on Tits.

Won a 3 point game at Pittsburgh against Bryon Leftwich
Won a 3 point game at SD where they converted a 4th & 29 on a dump to Rice
Lost at home to Pittsburgh with Charlie Batch
Lost at Washington to Kirk Cousins
Gonna get blown out by Dungver at home

And this is the team who hung 55 points on “our” squad.

Might wanna think about that Mark.

Miller just drilled Flacco. Amazing crop of pass rushers in recent years: Watt, Miller, Aldon Smith, JPP, Clay Matthews.

Unfortunately for us, I don’t necessarily see a guy anywhere near that caliber in this year’s draft. Damontre Moore from A&M is probably the best of the bunch, but I tend to think he’s just OK and not elite. Maybe a 10 sack a year guy, not 20.

    I dont think so.

My point being, it’s going to take a couple B+ DE’s and then they will look like world beaters. All the guys you mentioned that are elite, also happen to play on some pretty talented teams.
