Five players not at practice today

Quarterback Carson Palmer, right guard Mike Brisiel, cornerback Phillip Adams, defensive tackle Richard Seymour and strong safety Tyvon Branch aren’t practicing today.
Palmer definitely won’t play Sunday against the San Diego Chargers in the regular-season finale. Seymour haas missed the past seven games, and it’s likely that he won’t play this Sunday, either.
As for Brisiel (concussion), Adams (groin) and Branch (ankle(, they stand a decent chance of making it back in time for the Chargers game.
Terrelle Pryor and Matt Leinart are taking reps with the first-team offense today, with coach Dennis Allen saying he will see how both perform in practice this week before deciding which will start in place of Palmer.
Palmer suffered broken ribs and a bruised lung against the Carolina Panthers, and he already has been ruled out.

As far as personnel decisions go, I give the regime a passing grade based on the McClain situation. Dude might look a beast on a highlight reel of plays that resulted in a ruptured spleen, but we all know that he was a TERRIBLE middle LB.
The name Omar Gaither might not sound sexy to any of you, but the bottom line is, NO TEAM has hit a home run straight up the gut on us since he replaced Slolando.

If Leinart starts, then it’s because he is the better QB. Period.
    ———-

Better than Pryor? Sure, probably. But doesn’t mean he’s the better option going into our offseason. If this was week 3 with Carson being on IR, the argument for playing Leinart is valid. But going into a high draft pick with a QB project already on the roster is a bad move without seeing him in real game action.

  • Thec

That said, its obvious by the 22 yard pickup last Sunday, that Pryor should have been worked in the gameplan all season. 4-5 plays a game.

Thec, I cannot argue with a word there because I have seen inconsistency in a lot of things he has said. He benches TJ for a PS player and when Goodson screws up nothing is said. He wont give TJ a sniff it’s alarming how unfair that kid has been treated.

If you notice he has issues with players one may deem as HWS players. If they haven’t proven themselves he doesn’t give them much run at all. Why was Checkwa left on the PS when we strggled ar corner?

Reece and TJ left on the sideline when we struggled at HB. When are one of teh worse teams in the redzone and he wouldn’t let players play who could conceavably help.

DA and his lapdog OC has cost this team 3-5 games IMHO just by mismanagement alone. Not getting the best out of the talent available to them.

  • RAIDERMAN99

Pryor will give you a couple of throws where you’re like WTF (he11, so does Carson) but several on a rope in a tight window and he has an arm, so he can pass the deep ball too. Saw a ton of Pryor at OSU. If used properly, what a weapon. Would take a smart, creative coach.
    ===================================================
Whether TP can be THE MAN will ultimately be determined by how consistently accurate he can be.

There’s no doubt he can extend plays and gain yards with his legs.

Can he be coached up to read defenses proficiently ?

    I don’t see why not.

Sensing pressure and pocket presence should come with some time and experience.

Some playing time and good coaching should lead to marked improvement in most areas of question.

The accuracy and throwing ability is another story.

Yeah, improved footwork and a better throwing foundation can help with accuracy – but only marginally.

You’ve either got accuracy or you don’t.

I cracked up during this offseason when I saw the bits about Tebow having a QB coach that was going to change his delivery and improve his accuracy dramatically.

    Sorry, that just doesn’t happen.

A guy’s throwing motion is his throwing motion. You’ve either got accuracy or you dont.

    Can’t dramatically change either one.

The good news as far as I’m concerned, is that TP’s motion looks pretty smooth to me. I think he can throw pretty darn well on the move already.

I want to see him get set and throw some strikes.

If he can do that, he’ll be fine and could be the answer at QB that we’ve been looking for.

If not, WR or TE here we come.

Personally, I’m very skeptical that TP can throw well enough to be a franchise QB, but I don’t know for sure.

I certainly don’t rule it out.

But for Christ’s sake start playing the kid.

Find out what we have. We’re not going to know definitively based on what we see in WK 17 anyway. But there couldn’t be a more perfect time to start accumulating a body of evidence in order to make a call on TP.

    It’s a freaking no-brainer.

I have also pointed out that anyone thinking our team regressed DUE TO SIMPLY COACHING, is unaware of the backdrop that existed with our 2011 team and what this new regime was faced with.
Injuries, cap issues, lack of draft picks, lack of player talent and some GM and coaching inexperience all played a role in this seasons disaster.

Judge, Let me ask you honestly do you know the difference between a GM saying I need to see this guy play. And either you play this kid or you’ll be fired?

Is there any difference in those two statements to you?

I think there is genuine interest on everyones part. I just think the HC is clueless and his OC can’t help him because he is worse off. This HC is in way over his head just watch his in-game decision making and the OC’s playcalling. They do NOT know how to win games.

Double Agent tries like hell to cover his ass with smoke about who can’t and who can when really he is scrambling trying to make sense of it all. He came here with pre-conceaved notions which pre-judiced him aganist certain players and he runs around trying to cover his ass for decisions he made that did NOT work.

    Truth.

I just have a feeling (and I’m not the type to hate black QBs at all) that TP looks horrible in practice. I don’t believe that this regime is hatin on him for any reason other than his own sloppy footwork and poor reads.
The play where he made that big gain on Sunday would have been a TD had he put some zip on his toss to Palmer. Instead, he gave the defense a chance to read the play without having to overpursue.
Those are the little minute things that QBs get judged on.

Carolina takes out your starting QB with an illegal hit. What would Gruden have done had he been our HC? Would he have looked on like a deer caught in the headlight like DA was? I think not. He would have get in the faces of all players to inspire them to win it for their fallen QB.
DA lacks PASSION, Pride, Leadership ability.
Didn’t Mark Davis accuse him of that after the Bengal’s game? Do something you POS to inspire men since you are the HC of this team. I’m tired of him putting down Pryor for what he is not, a pocket passer. Put your players in position to win based on their strengths you POS. How do you think RG3 has been successful this year? By being a pocket passer? Be a coach with no agenda and try to win games instead of installing useless systems.

Mark Davis should tell RM to fire DA or else he’ll fire them both himself.
