CONTRA COSTA TIMES

Due to the huge response, we can no longer accept question submissions for the upcoming Raider press conference. Our staff has chosen the following queries to be presented to various members of the Raider's staff.
(For OC GREGG KNAPP)
"Did you know that you can't gain yardage going sideways?"
"I forgot. How many points is a touchdown"
"Do you have compromising pictures of Dennis Allen with farm animal?"
(For HC DENNIS ALLEN)
"If you were a tree, what kind of dog would piss on you?"
"I know you have kids, but have you ever been laid?"
(For GM Reggie M.)
"Do you always talk that way, or did you just come back from the dentist?"

Can’t beat the Knapp horse enough, but let’s fire John DeFilippo also.

This is the guy who’s taught Jamarcus Russell, Mark Sanchez and Terrelle Pryor everything they don’t know

===================================================
Not sure I can join you in the fire DeFilippo thing.

I don’t think any QB coach could have helped JaMoron.

Sanchez just stinks too, and I don’t think all the coaching in the world can change that.

Don’t know how he’s doing with TP.

Used to get a kick out of the numerous posters here that would just blast Sanjay Lal as being a terrible WR coach when they really had no idea of whether he was good or not.
-------

Well we know what he's doing with Pryor. In a full offseason that includes OTA's, Training Camp, Preseason and 15 weeks of Regular season, TP is "NOt even close to ready"

Also, Lal hasn't got anything out of NYJ WR's. Sure both cores lack talent but our WR's got worse every year.

They saw rcvrs run into each other one time and DHB dropping passes and assumed Lal was a dog of a coach.

I've never seen Defilippo at work. Don't know what his style is. How he relates to players. If he knows what he's talking about or is an effective communicator.

Tell you something Judge, you might find this hard to believe...

I was watching the NFL Network last year, and they had a crew out to televise the drills that were going on before one of the College All Star games...

They've got some coaches wired so we can hear what's being said during the drills...

One of the coaches was none other than GREGG KRAPP...

And unbelievably, he actually wasn't bad.

Was pretty organized and communicated clearly and concisely.

Had good command and ran the drills well.

Now of course we both know he's an absolute POS OC, maybe the worst ever...

I just bring this up to point out that even a turd like Krapp might be decent as a position coach.

Also wanted to tell you that I got a good laugh out of your 'question for DA' post the other day...

"Didn't I tell you to go fk yourself ?' had me in stiches.

i have been watching the Raiders for approx 40 yrs and am deeply disturbed by what has transpired this yr. to cheer myself up i watched highlites of our 3 superbowl victories in the 70's and 80's on you-tube. the offense was a power running game led by the likes of Hubbard, Van Eegen and Bannazak, and with speed guys like Davis, Allen & Whittington. The passing game was led by the surgical strikes of Stabler and Plunkett to guys like Casper and Biletnikoff with over the top burners like Cliff Branch. The offensive line was like a steamroller with the likes of Shell, Upshaw and Otto and later Dalby. the defense was formidable, a 3-4 mostly, led by NT's like Sistrunk & Long. then solid linebackers like Hendricks, Irons, Millen, Martin. the DB's were my favourites led by hit-men Atkinson & Tatum but also great cover guys like Brown & Hayes. This defense didn't miss many tackles, when they hit people, they stayed down, just ask Sammie White! What impressed me most though was the ability of the Raiders to physically dominate their opponents on both sides of the ball. the whole NFL was scared to play these guys because of the physical beating they were going to take!

And now we have a boring, predictable check down offence that isn't capable of throwing the ball downfield and can`t make the endzone. I agree with a lot of you - Knapp must go and the whole philosophy of this offence needs to change. there is some talent on O but it is terribly underutilized. having said that, it's time to trade McFadden due to his durability concerns. the D needs more talent and we should be dedicating most of the 2013 draft picks to this. i think there are some players in this group as well so really 3 or 4 picks or decent free agents would make a big difference for this D. but yes, it is time to part company with the likes of Seymour, Kelly, McClain, etc.i'm encouraged though by youngsters like Burris and Adams - they hustle and have some ability.i also think that Tarver & Allen know enuff about D to manage this side of the ball OK.

i was just about in tears after watching the glory years of the Raiders, i want them to return to that so bad. i hope Mark Davis is giving things a lot of hard thought this off season and if Reggie isn't the guy to make this all happen, then maybe he needs to go to.

Keep the faith Raider Nation,we won`t quit because that`s what the NFL wants-for us to quit and go away. the Raiders Will Rumble again!

Reggie quote;

"You want the players to doggone take it upon themselves and run it. We’re not at that level."

When PLAYERS are making the kind of money I have shown on previous posts (repeated below), there needs to be some self motivation.
Laying the blame of players not performing exclusively on coaches is not a valid.

It may be your opinion but not a valid one.

The new regime is getting rid of overpaid/under performing players. The coaches will stay.
Talent is 80% of the equation. Coaches are about 20%.
Any coaches on our staff making the following????

Contracts Reggie inherited PRIOR to getting under the cap for 2012:
DT Richard Seymour $14,068,000
QB Carson Palmer $12,500,000
LB Kamerion Wimbley $11,850,000
CB Stanford Routt $10,785,334
FS Michael Huff $9,828,750
RB Darren McFadden $9,478,833
DT Tommy Kelly $8,874,266
WR Darrius Heyward-Bey $8,159,000
LB Aaron Curry $5,757,500
P Shane Lechler $4,900,000
TE Kevin Boss $4,750,000
DT John Henderson $4,750,000
PK Sebastian Janikowski $4,500,000
CB Chris Johnson $4,500,000
LB Rolando McClain $3,640,000
OG Cooper Carlisle $3,300,000
FS Hiram Eugene $2,500,000
DE Lamarr Houston $1,116,250
SS Mike Mitchell $965,500

News quote:
“Still, the simple truth is that Knapp was not the Raiders’ first choice. He was hired after the Raiders interviewed a couple other candidates, and even that was long after pretty much every other team in the league had their coaching staff already set.
There remains a distinct possibility that Knapp will return in 2013. Maybe for the sake of continuity, or because it’s not as simple as most fans think to “upgrade” at a coaching position.”

He shouldn’t have been their choice PERIOD!

Darrius Heward-Bodycatch is going to be untradable.

____________________________________________________________

He did have some extraordinary catches this year…he just has problems with the ordinary “YOU HAVE TO CATCH” this pass to be in the nfl type plays.
================
Crabtree made catches each week. That’s his job. That’s DHB’s job. DHB didn’t do his job.

********************************************************

I laughed out loud when Crabtree took that out route from Kaepernick the distance against the Patriots. So many in here told me I was crazy because he wasn't fast enough and only ran bubble screens in a gimmick offense in college.

Never mind that the kid has maybe the best hands in the league and actually catches the ball when it's thrown to him. I think he currently leads all NFL WRs in receptions that result in first downs.

But hey, he didn't run an 4.3 so we didn't need him, lol.
