Terrelle Pryor has the Raiders with a first-and-10 at the San Diego 31, completing passes of 10 yards to Rod Streater on third-and-2 and 17 yards to Brandon Myers, both on the move.
San Diego scored on a 99-yard kickoff return by Michael Spurlock to open the game and a 31-yard Nick Novak field goal, set up by a 31-yard Phillip Rivers to Eddie Royal pass over Joselio Hanson.

DHB is our best blocking WR. Another valuable, overlooked trait. He doesnt have great hands, but hes here, and while he is, we need to get value from him. Take advantage of his blocking, his speed, and his ability to get YAC. EVERYBODY knows he cant catch. Since before he stepped on a field. So for a coach to try to use him that way just proves that they dont know what to do. Get him in the slot, get him on screens, get him in the flat. Thats how you use DHB. Or at least I would.

He’s doing better than I thought, but man he throws some ducks up there. The throw “deep” to DHB makes Leinhart look like he has JaFatasses arm. The floater over the middle to Myers only worked because nobobdy was with 10 yards of him. And that flip outside on the flare … that’s got land within 3 seconds to give the RB any time at all.
Unfortunately I see some pick 6’s in the cards if he keeps floating them up like that.

As for HC’s with two separate tenures with the same team, I can think of:
Chuck Knox with the Rams

Art Shell with us
Marion Campbell with the Falcons
Joe Gibbs with the Redskins
Bud Grant with the Vikings
None had winning records in their second stints. Gibbs was the closest, and he went 30-34.

Not seeing it as you are. I see him in the pocket, then moving when it breaks down, which has been VERY quickly. Then, weve seen him use his legs to avoid pressure, while still looking for receivers. Hes reading things well.

I like his deep throws, both of them so far.
Arm strength has never been an issue and those are one of the easier NFL throws.
I want to see him stand in the pocket, make some reads, and make some throws inside the numbers.
That’s not asking much, and there are 40 minutes left to see it.

Also, so much for the theory that the staff was letting him rot and weren’t trying to develop him. The difference in Pryor’s game from preseason to right now indicates that both he and the staff have done a lot of work. Kudos to both parties.

That’s how a girl makes it. A real QB puts that same pass on a line to the same location and the CB doesn’t have a chance to come back and make a play that requires a push off.
Pryor puts a mile of air under every throw. Just like Young and just like Tebow. How’d that workout for them once the league gets a little tape on them?
He’s surprising me with his command of the huddle and in finding the open guys, that’s a positive. I can just tell by those horrid throws though that it’s only a matter of time — like maybe a half time adjustment — until those start coming back to haunt him.

Rivers to Gates. They made that look way too easy. Bad defensive call there. Should have had someone man up on Gates. Zone in that situation is dangerous. Just not a good call there to me. By the time Mitchell reacted, it was too late. Not a good job of knowing the situation and your opponent. Thats about as easy as it gets for SD.

Yep, this is exactly what happened here. Looked like he wasnt aware of his assignment, which shouldnt be too hard when its Gates, biggest target on the field. They looked real confused on that play. Wheeler has usually been a little more ready than that, so I’ll give him the benefit before saying he sucks, but we cant give up plays like that though.

Bad choice on the 1st down run with 40 seconds left and no timeouts. Throw the ball away and stop the clock. You aren’t going to get 30 yards and out of bounds, so stop and go 2nd and 10. That cost any chance to score.

Man, its hella funny some people are really trying to make Gruden out to be a bad coach, or even mediocre.
You take over a 4-12 team from Joe Bugel, take them to 8-8 as a rookie HC, then to the playoffs, 2 years straight before leaving.
Take over a team that was known for having a great D, but NEVER made it to the Super Bowl. People say Dungy built those teams, cool. Dungy couldnt get them over the top. Thats WHY they went with Gruden. They knew they had the D, they needed some balance on O. Something Dungy couldnt give them.
Gruden won a Super Bowl with Brad Johnson as QB. Give the man some credit.
