Raiders inactives vs. Chargers

Players listed as inactives today vs. Chargers:

QB Carson Palmer, RB Jeremy Stewart, S Tyvon Branch, LB Rolando McClain, RG Mike Brisiel, DE Brandon Bair, WR Juron Criner.

Tony Bergstrom will start for Brisiel at right guard, Mike Mitchell for Tyvon Branch at strong safety.

A chance for Bergstrom to put something on film as a potential starter next season and Mitchell to market himself going into free agency. A mild surprise Criner is inactive, he’s been practicing lately.

Bigger surprise _ offensive lineman Lucas Nix is active for the first time after being inactive for 15 straight games.

HEre’s a thought…as far fetch as it might be.

What if Gruden told Mark he wanted to see PRyor play before making a decision to come here. To see if he was worth developing, and to see if Jon would think he could use him. So Mark went to Reggie, who went to DA and told him to play Pryor.

    OH the conspiracies!

Well I want us to beat the Chargers and ram the ball down their throats. Call me old fashioned but it hurts to lose to a divisional rival.

Robert, so the Ravens made Dilfer “great” after you just properly called him not great? You’re going in circles.

Andrew Luck is making a 2-14 team a playoff powerhouse.
RGIII took a top-7 draft team to the playoffs.
Peyton Manning took an 8-8 team to the top of the NFL.

    90% same surrounding cast.
    **************

ur a good liar, i’ll give u that. but as u know, i blow u away every time.

i never called dilfer great. i said great teams make great qb’s. if i have to spell it our for u like a schoolgirl, a qb with good skills excels with a good team, coaches, wr’s, etc. a good qb on a bad team ends up doing worse than his skills might dictate. this is elementary stuff.

manning is great. took a playoff winning team and made them even better.

griffin is really good. made year 3 of shanahan click.

luck is a good qb prospect having an entirely over-hyped season, based on “chuckstrong” and some “luck”. he is the 29th rated qb in the league with 27 turnovers. they are WAY overrated.

there was ZERO debate about Cam vs Pryor.

One was a #1 overall pick after setting NCAA pass efficiency records.

The other was a 3rd round pick considered a reach by most who had him pegged as a TIGHT END project.

Cam was the #1 overall pick, TP was bailed out from falling further than the 3rd round by a crazy old man.

I think we will see today why TP, even with all his athleticism, why he was passed over multiple times by all the teams.

Intermediate to deep throws are a major, major issue for him.

You also HAVE to be able to rush the passer to win as well.

    Another reason w suck….

Andrew luck took a 2 win team, inspired them with great leadership and played well when his team needed it, see all the 4th Qtr comebacks.

Dude is really good, soon will be great.

Great teams all have great QB’s.

    *************

luck hasn’t inspired the team, chuckstrong has.

if luck was so good this season, why aren’t they ahead in the 4th quarter more often?

great teams USUALLY have great qb’s, but great qb’s don’t make great teams all by themselves.

you fail to look deeper into stats.

6 of Luck’s INTs came when he threw the ball up 50+ times in a game.

Another 3 picks came in his 1st NFL game.

Outside of those three OUTLIERS (throwing 50+ is absurd and a sign that you’re catching up vs Dime D’s)
    he’s thrown a reasonable 9 INTs.

FOX’s Jay Glazer reports the Raiders are expected to make a “bunch of changes” to their offensive coaching staff as early as Sunday evening.
Glazer believes underwhelming first-year coach Dennis Allen is safe, but implied behind-the-times OC Greg Knapp is as good as gone. Knapp worked extremely hard to earn his walking papers this season, routinely failing to put his players in the best position to succeed. That was embodied by Darren McFadden, who found himself trapped in a zone-blocking scheme that played to his weaknesses and sapped his strengths. Knapp is probably lucky he wasn’t let go mid-season. well, maybe it might have something to do with poor receivers, poor play-calling, poor line play, forcing it cuz he knows it’s all on him, etc.

  • EMRaiders

Again, expectations for Pryor should not be very high. What we all should be looking for is how far along he has come. We have nothing to compare to besides his college days. So this game is really more like a rehearsal for him than anything else.

And one game should not dictate how he will play in the future. Regardless if he plays balls out or if he plays like his balls were chopped off.

    =====

And the preemptive excuses continue …

Leinhart will be playing with exactly the same set of contraints. I have and continue to assert that he will outplay Pryor today given a roughly equal number of snaps. That said, if Pryor sucks out of the gate as I expect, Leinhart will end up getting more of them by game’s end, but we’ll see.

Anyway, I’m going on the line and saying that if Pryor does actually outplay Leinhart today, with the same set of contraints, then I’ll admit here that he has more potential than I currently think (which is zero) to play QB in the NFL and will state that he should be on the Raiders roster next season.

I asked all of the TP supporters to merely state that if he fails to outplay Leinhart, they will admit here that maybe he is not really that good and the team should consider moving on. Exactly one poster, GG, had the balls to take that stance. Everyone else ducked, dodged and danced around putting their rep on the line. Instead, we just get a bunch more excuses in advance.
