Raiders inactives vs. Chargers

Players listed as inactives today vs. Chargers:

QB Carson Palmer, RB Jeremy Stewart, S Tyvon Branch, LB Rolando McClain, RG Mike Brisiel, DE Brandon Bair, WR Juron Criner.

Tony Bergstrom will start for Brisiel at right guard, Mike Mitchell for Tyvon Branch at strong safety.

A chance for Bergstrom to put something on film as a potential starter next season and Mitchell to market himself going into free agency. A mild surprise Criner is inactive, he’s been practicing lately.

Bigger surprise _ offensive lineman Lucas Nix is active for the first time after being inactive for 15 straight games.

Andrew Luck is a great QB. Is anyone watching him tear up the Texans?
    *********

see. this is exactly what i’m talking about.

luck is currently 13-27 (under 50%) 185 yards (including a 70 yard catch and run) and 2tds.

the colts also have 4 sacks.

a TEAM win if it happens.
he is NOT “tearing them up”. he is playing well and the team is doing well.

  • 303Raider

How can you really evaluate TP6 after one game where all year he has been the 3rd QB and has rarely worked with the 1st team?

He needs a lot of reps, games, etc. under his belt before anyone could say whether or not he will make it in the NFL.

But, if he does play well today, the yearning for more will only get louder!

  • Just Fire Baby

That looks like an ACL/MCL thing with Cam.

so we’ll agree Gordon dropped, what, half of a round?

Meaning Pryor is a low 2nd round QB talent (at best, since everyone agreed it was a reach).

If you’re a low 2nd-round QB talent, you’re not seen as a legit NFL QB (they almost always get bumped up to the 1st round even if they’re fring prospects): see Locker, Tebow, Weeden, Tannenhill, Sanchez

    Alex Smith:

    - was completing 70% of his passes
    – had a 13-5 TD to INT ratio
    – had a 6-2 record
    – was THIRD in QB rating

and got benched. That’s something we’ll probably never again see.

TP’s biggest problems today will be:

    1) his OC sucks
    2) his O-Line blows
    3) our running game is atrocious
    4) our WR’s are mediocre

Oh and his defense blows too..

Timely throws when they matter , 4th Qtr comebacks are way more indicative of a great QB over Carson Palmers mediocre stats when we are getting blow out.

the same way we evaluated RGIII, Russell Wilson, Luck, and others after MUCH LESS than a YEAR AND A HALF of NFL practices.

95% of the time, if you have it, you show it within a month in the NFL whether it’s pre-season, practices, or games.

It’s been almost 2 years for Pryor. No excuses.

    Ouch…..Cam is injured bad.

At least put Saunders back as OC for 2013. Go back to last year’s offense something that fits the personnel.

Unless Saunders refuses to work for Kindergarten Koach – any OC worth his salt probably won’t.

I don’t disagree with the Smith benching, but you don’t get 13 TDs in 8 games and a #3 overall rating by doing Jason-Campbell check-downs all the time.

I think Alex Smith fits in Philly next year as a safe guy to get the ball in the hands of play-makers.

Hey Alex, what gives with your anti-Pryor?
Granted he hasn’t shown much but at least allow him to prove himself worthy or not.

He may have been in the NFL longer than those you mention but doing what? Suspended at the beginning of the season. Then to make matters worst, Oakland had no QB coach. The supposedly QB coach was too busy with his mani/pedi and wouldn’t give him nor Carson the time of day. Carson said he had little access to Hue-bris.

Probably, Carson was the only one to show him the ropes, how to film study, etc. Carson was his mentor and coach.

Its all about quality time. KK’s infamous saying D…

Pryor will be around 50% completions with lots of check downs. More INTs than TDs. 2 fumbles.

He’s LIGHT-YEARS away from guys like Russell Wilson, Kaepernick, Luck, RGIII, and Andy Dalton despite being in the league longer than some of them.

Palmer is 16th-ranked QB this season

ahead of Eli Manning, Stafford, Cutler, and Freeman.

Pryor gets no excuses with the same team and 1.5 years in the NFL.

    =====

Yeah, the hypocrisy here is hilarious at times.

We here from the TP supporters that Palmer sucks, his stats are all garbage time, he doesn’t win games by himself and he’s the problem. It’s all on the QB.

Then when Pryor gets his shot all the excuses come out — before he’s even failed — to talk about how the team, the system, Knapp, DA, Reggie, and the white supremacists are all conspiring to hold him back.

Then we get the further spin that even if he does fail, it doesn’t mean anything in this game. But if he does even mediocre, then he is clearly the future. Gee, haven’t already made up your minds, have you? Please explain how anything that shows up in this game could change your mind about Pryor based on that combination?

So you expect him to have what type of game today.

All I’m saying is its not like the HC’s have put this team together for him and our supporting cast is not top tier to say the least.

I’m managing my expectations with TP6 today. If he plays just awful then sure. We all know he will make mistakes but I’m looking for some Super Hero plays and some good throws in the pocket.

Our defense and running game are so bad that TP could play great and we might still lose.

Rarely in sports, do you see a team so talented jump out to a big lead in the standings and just flop with no emotion like what the Texans, without their being a schism in the locker room.

I am guessing something is going on, what, who knows.

    Aphid, everyone:

    Pryor’s weaknesses SINCE HIGH SCHOOL:

    - eyes see pass-rushers, don’t stay downfield under pressure

    - bad footwork in the pocket

    - inability to read a D

    - inaccurate

ALL WE HAVE TO SEE is if he’s STILL struggling with the same thing 6 years in a row.

    ——————————————————-

Im not sayin he was a great QB prospect at all, but you made it sound like he was taken in the 7th round or somethin and teams passed on him “multiple Times” Im just sayin he was taken in the 3rd and wouldn’t of ben there for our next pick because of his athletic ability alone, keep in mind that wasn’t a normal sup draft either, very late in training camp and he couldn’t practice with the team for 5 games, so every team knew that it was more than likely goin to be aamost a wasted year for him

  • alex7

if NCAA statistics for QBs are to be trusted, Pryor will:

    - be around 50% completions with lots of check downs.
    - throw more INTs than TDs.
    - have a fumble

This would be par for Pryor’s HS and OSU career vs legit teams.
