Raiders re-sign six players

The Raiders re-signed tight end Mickey Shuler, offensive lineman Jason Slowey, guard Jason Foster, linebacker Jerrell Harris, wide receiver Travionte Session and defensive back Akwasi Owusu-Ansah.
Those six players finished the season on the Raiders practice squad. Therefore, their contracts expired. The Raiders re-signed them Wednesday to what’s known as reserve/future contracts.
Here’s some background info on the six players:

Foster was signed to Oakland’s practice squad on Oct. 31. The 6-foot-3, 300-pound offensive lineman originally signed with the Indianapolis Colts as a non-drafted rookie free agent out of Rhode Island in 2012.

Harris, a 6-foot-2, 240-pound linebacker, was signed to the Raiders’ practice squad on Nov. 28. Harris originally signed with the Atlanta Falcons as a non-drafted rookie free agent out of Alabama in 2012, and spent time on the practice squad with both Jacksonville and New England before joining the Raiders.

Owusu-Ansah was initially signed to the Raiders’ practice squad on Sept. 19, and rejoined the Silver and Black on Dec. 10. A 6-foot-1, 205-pound defensive back, Owusu-Ansah played in 10 games with the Dallas Cowboys from 2010-11, registering 28 kick returns for 599 yards. He was originally selected by the Cowboys in the fourth round (126th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft.

Session signed with the Raiders as a non-drafted rookie free agent out of Nevada in 2012. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound receiver spent training camp with the Silver and Black and was signed to the practice squad on Sept. 1.

Shuler was signed to Oakland’s practice squad on Oct. 16. The 6-foot-4, 251-pound tight end played in six games with the Miami Dolphins in 2010, totaling two receptions for 44 yards. Shuler also spent time with Minnesota in 2010 and 2011 after entering the league as the Vikings’ seventh-round draft pick (214th overall) out of Penn State.

Slowey joined the Silver and Black’s practice squad on Oct. 23 after spending training camp with the San Francisco 49ers. He was originally selected by the 49ers in the sixth round (199th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft out of Western Oregon.

Pryor’s biggest problem was his footwork.

He relied on athleticism too much, and it threw his mechanics off.

    that and he can’t throw.

Why in the heck would Tom Clements, Dirk Koetter or Pete Carmichael Jr leave the Packers, Falcons or Saints to take THE SAME JOB with the Raiders?!?!?!?

    Really?… REALLY?!?!

Add into the fact that there is a NFL rule that the teams dont have to let assistants leave for anything other than a HC job..

We’d have a hard time just getting Kromer or Lombardi, who by the way is the QB coach for the Saints, because of the rule.

Logic infusion is needed in this blog big time.

    ======

Those 3 names all have ties with either Reggie or DA. Not saying they will want to jump ship, but you don’t know if they will still be employed in a month….just saying

    —-

Bro, Tom Clements was interviewing for HC jobs last year. He is in charge of one of the best Offenses in the NFL.

The same can be said for Koetter..

Carmichael just interviewed for the Bears HC..

There is 0.00000% of them losing their job or being the Raiders OC.

    ======

I wouldn’t say 0.0000% just yet, Hue came in 2010 to be OC, a year later, he was HC. Maybe Reggie pulls an Al Davis trick out of a hat, the way DA is performing, it is not outside the realm of possibilities.

“all of the throws that pryor has made in this early going, not all have been completed, but ALL WERE RIGHT ON THE MONEY AND THAT IS GOOD NEWS FOR THE RAIDERS” – STEVE TASKER DURING PRYOR’S 80 YARD TD DRIVE

Reece dropped the very first pass and it was for a first down!

  • Mistic1 Tha Supavillain

pryor runs a boot leg and has reece in the flat, he pump fakes to reec and slows up not to run over the line of scrimage. he is clear of the pursuit and could take off running.

He then looks to his second read moore down the sideline and decides against it.

pryor spots myers sitting in a pocket and throws him a nice pass for a catch.

the very next play the raiders are in the off set eye pryor takes the snap from center and turns and hands to goodson.

The line backers freeze unsure if pryor is going to keep it on the boot again, there is no back side pursuit as the d end is also waiting for pryor to boot.

Goodson leaks out with ball in hand and picks up 9 yards!!

Like i have been saying all season the run game failed because the defense had no reason to respect the boot action of the qb. One palmer turned to hand off the defense could sell out 100% to the run. plamer was no threat to keep the ball nor was he effective throwing from outside the pocket on roll outs.

In just 1 quarter of football pryor is killing the chargers doing both, and the rbs are benifitiing

also moore and dhb both get tds, reece and myers targeted as well.

no sacks given up to a defense that made 11 the week before.

It seems that pryor ACTUALLY MAKES THE GUYS AROUND HIM BETTER!!!

    unlike you know who

Pryor is the wave of the future!!

Pryor just wasn’t comfortable in the pocket. Seemed to be paying more attention to what the protection was or wasn’t doing than making his reads. He was at his best when he broke it down and cut the Field in half for himself. But i was happy that he really did try to stay and thrwo from the pocket, when he did step into his throws he looked good, was fairly accurate and strong.
