Raiders re-sign six players

The Raiders re-signed tight end Mickey Shuler, offensive lineman Jason Slowey, guard Jason Foster, linebacker Jerrell Harris, wide receiver Travionte Session and defensive back Akwasi Owusu-Ansah.
Those six players finished the season on the Raiders practice squad. Therefore, their contracts expired. The Raiders re-signed them Wednesday to what’s known as reserve/future contracts.
Here’s some background info on the six players:

Foster was signed to Oakland’s practice squad on Oct. 31. The 6-foot-3, 300-pound offensive lineman originally signed with the Indianapolis Colts as a non-drafted rookie free agent out of Rhode Island in 2012.

Harris, a 6-foot-2, 240-pound linebacker, was signed to the Raiders’ practice squad on Nov. 28. Harris originally signed with the Atlanta Falcons as a non-drafted rookie free agent out of Alabama in 2012, and spent time on the practice squad with both Jacksonville and New England before joining the Raiders.

Owusu-Ansah was initially signed to the Raiders’ practice squad on Sept. 19, and rejoined the Silver and Black on Dec. 10. A 6-foot-1, 205-pound defensive back, Owusu-Ansah played in 10 games with the Dallas Cowboys from 2010-11, registering 28 kick returns for 599 yards. He was originally selected by the Cowboys in the fourth round (126th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft.

Session signed with the Raiders as a non-drafted rookie free agent out of Nevada in 2012. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound receiver spent training camp with the Silver and Black and was signed to the practice squad on Sept. 1.

Shuler was signed to Oakland’s practice squad on Oct. 16. The 6-foot-4, 251-pound tight end played in six games with the Miami Dolphins in 2010, totaling two receptions for 44 yards. Shuler also spent time with Minnesota in 2010 and 2011 after entering the league as the Vikings’ seventh-round draft pick (214th overall) out of Penn State.

Slowey joined the Silver and Black’s practice squad on Oct. 23 after spending training camp with the San Francisco 49ers. He was originally selected by the 49ers in the sixth round (199th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft out of Western Oregon.

Well I happen to think players make coaches, B.

The Warriors are all of a sudden decent because of Jarrett Jack is playing well and Curry is healthy.

Raiders offense can make the same turnaround we saw bringing in Hue Jackson. A decent OC hire takes this offense to the next level. Allen has nothng to do with the offense.

  • Stop using the salary cap as an excuse for a disastrous 1st season by Reggie and DA.

We SPENT about 11 million dollars on new players this year, so there WAS some money, Brisiel, Bartell, Tollefson, etc. they didn’t come for free.

Instead of looking for excuses, why don’t you guys analyze if we spent those dollars wisely?.

norv never won a playoff game w SD.
Only went to playoffs first 3 yrs there w Shottenhitler leftovers.
    Squeaked by after that.
    Go norv!

And who the OC is doesn’t matter anyway because the same milktoast coach is our DC.

They’re putting out an unwatchable product rt now. Been a Raider fan since my old man took me to the games in the 60’s. I just can’t keep watching guys wearing Silver and Black gettin’ shoved around and coached by @ssclowns. And this comes after last year, which was kinda fun sometimes. There was actually hope.

It took an entire 4-12 season for Allen to figure out Knapp was incompetent? And he wants to keep the DC?

Keep in mind Denver’s D improved greatly after allen’s departure.

Hard to even say if it was the players. Players know when they have clueless coaches. Doesn’t take long for futility to kick in. Just play out your contract without any injuries and get to a team that operates like professionals. Can’t say I blame them. Risk your limbs for a team who cares.

I said they UNDERACHIEVE! Look up underachievement in the dictionary and there’s a pic of Norm.

Good gawd guys.. if you are pining for a retread Raider at least do it for a guy that did well for us. Trestman might take the job and he led the NFL in offense with the Raiders!

I’ll never forget that NYE game where norv called the exact same play four straight times from the one to fail.
