It’s clear there are quite a few posters on this blog who have NEVER run or managed anything their entire life. A competent general manager does cut or waive a starting player or coach until they have someone equal or better lined up to replace the guy being eliminated.

A competent GM would also be more proactive in his search for quality coaches and talent.

But as I say to you guys a TON on this blog, positions are not just interchangeable. An ILB and OLB are different. A blocking TE and pass receiving TE are different. A RT and LT are different. RT is much more of a road grader type of player more designed to help in the run game. Veldheer has played well at LT. He is a more athletic type of guy and fits well over on the left side. Conceivably, you could move him over to the right side and have him flame out, and then have a LT come in and not develop. Now you have a big problem. So, you want to move him back over to the Left side? Isn’t that EXACTLY what the Raiders did with Gallery? Moved him around until he couldn’t play any position?
