Woodson grew up after he left the Raiders

Green Bay Packers defensive back Charles Woodson attained a level of production and respect he never had in Oakland.

The fact is, when Woodson left in free agency, his career was on the rocks. Even Tampa Bay coach Jon Gruden, who loved Woodson’s talent, did not authorize a big contract during free agency for the 2006 season.

Instead, Woodson signed with the only team that offered serious money _ the Green Bay Packers. And after relocating to the central United States with a team that would seem to have little to offer a player notorious for enjoying himself, Woodson instead thrived.

I remember writing a column before Woodson’s departure lamenting how a Hall of Fame talent would never reach the Hall of Fame. It’s not lot like I’ve never been wrong before, but it turns out I was way off base.

A link to Saturday’s story on Woodson after talking with Tim Brown and Rich Gannon . . .

Seattle is so set it’s ridiculous.

They have 10 picks coming up in the draft, and their QB is set for awhile

Would Seattle be a good trading partner? (Yo DAV?)
“We need another pass rusher,” Carroll said, according to the Tacoma News-Tribune. “We really do. That’s why we went out and got Jason (Jones) last year. And we’re going to have to double it up. We need a couple of guys.

Carroll says that a Pass Rusher is a priority, couldn’t they get a pretty good pass rusher @#3? Seems like it is worth it for Seattle…

Wonder what Reggie thinks of Matt Flynn?

If I never live to see another LSU QB in Silver and Black, I will have lived a meaningful life.

  • r8eray

I think the Raiders should draft Star Lotulelei with Seymour on his way out and Kelly being cut in order to free up some much needed cap space!

Who else do we have for DT’s?

  • hwnrdr

Matt Flynn…one great shootout game against Detroit, gets big FA to go to Seattle, gets beat out by Wilson…not sure if I want Flynn in S&B

  • DMAC

If Flynn couldn’t get it done in Seattle, what makes you think he can do something here?

And not sure if Flynn is willing to leave Seattle to be another back up :)

    Thank you.
Lets develop TP, and he can compete for for the backup position. I think he will be our backup next year, and who knows…

    TP!!

  • DutchRaider77

Sorry, not advocating for a trade for Flynn at all…should have broken up the posts. Too many holes to fill on the team to worry about QB when we have CP and TP…

I’m still of the mind that if Houston loses another 10-15 lbs and stays at end he would be even more effective…especially with B.Mingo on the other side with Bryant and rookie huge NT in middle…..
    $$$$$$$$$$$$

If he loses more weight, he will become less effective inside, and he will lose his versatility.
    ===============================================
Maybe have shonasty add 10-15 lbs and utilize him some inside….hes become worthless outside anyways….

  • DMAC

Give CP3 1 more year and let TP6 be the back up. Take the training wheels off for the 2014 season.

  • DutchRaider77

Just seems “someone” is going to trade for Flynn. Would think his stock is down this year compared to last year.

Was actually thinking Chiefs would be a suitor for Flynn.

    Matt Cassell 2.0?

Put Dwyane Bowe and a 2nd rd WR with Streater and Ford, and Palmer would be a top 10 QB.

Pryor wouldn’t see the field for 4 years or so.

    You are killing me dude.
Since we have a few young WRs, why not sign a solid vet, and draft pass rushers since its not a good year for WRs?
I agree that we need help on offense too, but we still have CP, DMC, and Reece. We have no impact players on defense.
IMHO, Reece can be an impact player, if we use him right. He can be our A Hernandez/ Pats.

We don’t have a 2nd (assuming you mean with trade down), but I’m surprised you are willing to invest a 2nd round pick in a WR with Bowe, Moore, Streater, and Ford on the roster.

Seattle is so set it’s ridiculous.

They have 10 picks coming up in the draft, and their QB is set for awhile. Is it going too far to call Russell Wilson “elite” at this point?

Also, if they get rid of their backup QB (Flynn) they save another 10 mill they can use to beef up other areas.

The only hope that anyone has of Seattle going backward is if defenses “figure out” Wilson. Otherwise they should be loaded for awhile.

I am not certain of their cap situation though, but it sure must be nice to have a franchise QB fall into their lap.
    ============================================
