Reece headed to Hawaii

Raiders fullback Marcel Reece is on his way to Hawaii as the team’s lone representative as a result of the Baltimore Ravens advancing to the Super Bowl on Sunday.
Reece was a first alternate, and he parlayed that into a spot on the AFC roster when Ravens fullback Vonta Leach qualified for the Super Bowl.
Leach was the AFC’s fullback when the voting from coaches, players and fans ended. Naturally, he has a rather more-pressing engagement two weeks from today.
Leach will be preparing for the Super Bowl in New Orleans the next two weeks, which means Reece is needed to fill the void in Hawaii.
This is Reece’s first Pro Bowl appearance. The Raiders didn’t have any players selected to this year’s team in the voting.

I watched the Laker Bulls game last night and it was tied late until Chi. pulled away. I’m a Bulls fan, but i’ve seen a few Laker games this yr. and one thing that stands out is that there’s no player to take over the game in crunch time for LA.

    It used to be Kobe.

I wonder if we can trade Howard to Philly for Bynum and Holiday?

    +++++++++++

lol, Bynum in street clothes is better than Howard? You might have me convinced!

They need to look at game film of how the Magic got Howard the ball, and run with that.

    What a joke.

Here is the article on his hiring, it appears he isn’t the OL coach, but has been hired to be the run game coordinator? Must have brought him in to make better use of Ray Rice, and Bernard Pierce who is a fantastic compliment to Rice

“This just maybe the piece of news that solidifies who I pull for in the upcoming Super Bowl. John Harbaugh announced today that Juan Castillo has joined the Baltimore Ravens as a consultant heading into the Super Bowl and will officially take the role of Running Game Coordinator next season.

That means Juan Castillo will be there in New Orleans for the Super Bowl in two weeks and just might get himself a ring. This comes only months after Andy Reid, by his own admission, undeservedly fired him from his job as Eagles defensive coordinator. That of course came about a year after he was unexpectedly elevated to that position from offensive line coach in the wake of the lockout.

Juan got a raw deal here and there’s some poetic justice that he may get the ultimate last laugh in the form of a Super Bowl ring.

The Baltimore Sun reports that Castillo has been around the Ravens for the past couple of weeks and has eve been in attendance at the game. And this is not just John Harbaugh hiring a guy he worked with for a long time here in Philadelphia. Castillo was a really good offensive line coach and there’s no doubt in my mind that he’ll be an asset to the Ravens.

While we’re on the subject of redemption… Harbaugh also announced that Jim Caldwell, who got fired after the Colts lost Peyton Manning for a year and “sucked for Luck,” will stay on as offensive coordinator next season. He got that job after Harbaugh made the decision to fire Cam Cameron when the Ravens offense was sputtering earlier this season. Caldwell, who was made to look completely ineffective and just a product of Peyton Manning, has completely turned the Ravens offense around and been a big part of this run to a Super Bowl.”

Good for both of these guys.

    I’m not watching either, Dakota.

Don’t even know when they are playing is why I’m missing the games. When have you ever not even paid attention to the schedule, lol.

You have to force Artest on any team that wants Gasol.

Would the Bulls give up Boozer and Deng, or Boozer and Hinrich for Artest and Gasol?

Not sure what we would do at SF, but at this point it doesn’t even matter.

    Should have hired Phil.

  • boss01

Tim just hates Callahan period. Hates he got another OC gig in Dallas, he also hates Trestman, hates he got a HC gig, thats why he said he isnt a leader of men. Doesn’t hurt to grab some headlines too.

Even if Callahan did change the game plan from a run heavy attack to throwing it 60 times on friday, the fact that you were missing your best run blocker coupled with the fact that you got behind what was it 21-3 at halftime, that left no choice but to change the game plan anyway.

Doesn’t change the fact that Gannon stunk it up that day, that was the biggest reason for the demise period. It was Gannon who sabotaged the super bowl not Callahan.

Glad to see the Raiders finally did something. Don’t know how excited i am about Greg Olson but we’ll see.

My theory is “Ten…and Then” Give Reggie 10 years to right the ship and at least 8-9 yr’s. to see a winning record.

I think that’s enough time to see if Reggie is the man for the job.

If we can’t obtain a winning record in 9 yr’s maybe it will time to think about making a change.

Give Reg at least 15 yr’s. to get us into the SB.

  • J Hill

Phil couldn’t do anything with this roster either.

Too old on the perimeter defensively.

Reggie is weaving a quilt. And similar to a seasoned artisan he will take his time honing his craft and weaving a winner.

Right now, he is still preparing for his entrance into the fabric store to shop for his patterns and fabric.

He will eliminate more bad contracts and slowly, painstakingly weave his quilt.

Reggie is no rush and neither should we be. Building a winner takes years and years of patience is the quilt is weaved one painfully crafted seam at a time.

We must do this is slowly as possible. To try and build a winner too quickly is foolishness. We must wait patiently to see this develop into what may one day result in a measure of success.

“Ten and then” means 10 yr’s. till we see some measurable growth…and then….we wait patiently as Reggie weaves his quilt…

I may have been optimistic in looking to yr. 17 of his tenure as being one we could reasonably look to for a SB championship…it most likely will take much longer than that.

Patience my friends…the quilt will be weaved…but it will be weaved slowly and painfully until one day we may be able to look back and say…it was all worth it while we admire the superior craftsmanship of championship fabric.

Phil couldn’t do anything with this roster either.

Too old on the perimeter defensively.

    _______________

Phil would have the ball going inside to Gasol and Dwight first, and he would have Artest and Kobe under control.

The offense would be rhythmic, instead of looking like five turrets syndrome high schoolers are out there playing. Turnovers would be way down.

Fix the offense and that would help the defense.

Also, running the triangle usually meant there were two players near the top of the key who could get back on defense when a shot was missed….which would help stop the fast break points.

And of course, accountability. None of them respect DAntoni….he runs a gimmick offense with no mention of defense and has never won a thing as a HC. The players respect the 11 rings.

    Lol Guest,

I think it’s some folks just sayin “Chill”…. That this won’t be fixed next year, or the year after.

Not hoping for “Lightning in a bottle” scenarios where we experience spurts of competitiveness but, rather building an empire. The kind that is “Expected” to be in the post season year after year after year. If that’s what you want…. Gotta wait more.

I think that’s what they mean.

    Good Morning Raider brethren,

Anyone else concerned that we don’t have our new O-line coach in place to help with evaluation at the Senior Bowl? Not to mention LB coach as well? Besides, I didn’t think Holland did a bad job in the first place.

T Sparano for OL coach would be an awesome hire, ROb Ryan or G Williams for LB coach

The NFL re-instated Williams? Yeah, I would take him as our LBer coach, and once Tarver falls on his face again Williams can become our DC.
