Report: Raiders expand talks with candidates about upper management role

This was filed by beat writer Jerry McDonald a few minutes ago:

The Raiders are talking with Scott O’Neil, the former president of Madison Square Garden , about a position as team president, according to a tweet Sunday by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

It is the second person reportedly involved in discussions with owner Mark Davis about an upper management position, joining NFL executive vice president Ray Anderson.

It is unclear what that position would mean to Raiders CEO Amy Trask and general manager Reggie McKenzie. Trask has been involved strictly on the business side since McKenzie arrived, including leading an effort for a new stadium.

McKenzie was asked about the reports of a team president while talking with local writers Thursday and said, “That’s a Mark Davis deal. I don’t want to give any leeway of his line of thinking on that. . . . I don’t want to divulge any information in that regard. I’ll let Mark answer those questions.

Davis was not available for comment.

O’Neil, 42, resigned his post as Madison Square Garden president in September after four years on the job. His responsibilities included overseeing the season-ticket and marketing operations of the New York Knicks and New York Rangers.

According to the New York Times, O’Neil “gradually increased his involvement in Knicks’ personnel decisions, often to the annoyance of the basketball operations staff.’’

Get ready for the Black and Blue Bowl folks…Should be a dandy…and FYI: Brady’s arm is gone, hence the dink and dunk offense, even at the end of the game when trailing.

That Ryan fumbled swayed the whole game.

    Got caught peeking I think.

It is is true the 49ers can’t beat “physical” teams. Ray Lewis is going to eat Kaepernick for dinner in 2 weeks!

  • 505raiders

we need guys like pollard on the backend to knock mfs out or at least make them pay for making a play

thats the sh1t that makes a wr and rbs think twice

causes drop balls fumbles game changing play and sets the tempo

well thats what i want to see in our safties

Didn’t Pollard hurt DMAC too when he was with the Chiefs?

When’s the last time a player on the Raiders knocked somebody the FCK OUT?!!

    —-

Last time a Raider player knocked someone out was a offensive guy Mcfadden, when he put Ngata’s ass on the ground when he was running after the QB

    —————————–

    Talking on defense.

But, yeah DMAC knocked a bunch of mufckas out in 2010/2011, especially at the goal line. He’s a bad ass when he’s going north and south and drops the hammer.

IF it was Pollard that was the guy on the DMAC injury it would make sense.

No way it’s just coinidence. Yes, it may be within the rules but i’m convinced he knows very well what he;s doing when he rolls on the lower legs and ankles like that.

Did anybody else hear Patrick Warburton (Puddy from Seinfeld) describe Ray Lewis on Fox NFL pregame?

“Ray Lewis is like The Wire: he’s great, he’s from Baltimore, and he scares the hell out of me.”

    RM99,

What was the halftime line of the 49ers game?

Got greedy on the ATL ML, in my fictious gambling world.

Should have stuck with my old saying.

    HOME DOGS COVER.

    (but don’t win)
    ==========================================
Niners were -7 at the half.

Books must have had some mixed results with today’s action.

The Whiners opened at 3.5 last Sunday got bet up to 6 here in Reno.

ATL winning by 4 was pretty sweet for them – with the exception of the sharps that took SF-3.5 and then came back with ATL+6 later. Can you say MIDDLED ?

They sure weren’t happy with the RAVENS winning.

That baby opened with NE -9.5 and nothing but RAVEN money took that down to 7.5.

  • mcfadden20.

Ravens have to look at what Rams and Seahawks did to SF, Rams came close to beating them twice, Seahawks whooped their a#@ in Seattle, so if you play physical with them they can b had, Ravens were running the ball all day long, so if they keep doing tht, i think SF can be beaten

  • RaiderLen

So with the “New” blo0cking scheme that will cater to DMAC, which O Line man do we draft?

    Joeckle or Warmack?

  • CDERaider

Niners getting ridiculous breaks. How do the packers fumble a frikn fair catch punt at the 15 when the pack are up 14-7 and rolling? How does Ryan just give the ball away on a simple shotgun snap right to him? Both allowed the whiners to score and change the game. Add to that the refs giving them every frikn call.

I really hope the Ravens beat they azz! Cocky fcks need to get chopped down!

  • Just Fire Baby

I would love Pollard on my team, but let’s be real here, that RB actually had a mini seizure on the field. That’s what happens when you see the arms and hands lock up like that.

We aren’t that far from someone dying on the field.

And yet, you can’t graze the QB’s facemask. Shouldn’t they at least have Roughing the passer like the old facemask penalty, with a 5 and 15 yard variety?

How can you give a team a 3rd and 12 conversion for that little amount of contact to the QB?

    Ridiculous.

yeah but you cant replace guys like harrison brueskiand milloy and law

they also cant play forever the d they have now is still good

Niners were -7 at the half.

    ***************************

So the original line was -6 SF, they were down 10 at the half, so -7 meant a 3 point falcon win, which is a delta of 9 points from the original line.

Yup man, fielding a punt at 1 , was so stupid , unless the covering team was 30 yards away, n that fumble, both Packers and Falcons should have beaten them, I don’t think they are all that, everybody claims them to be, hopefully Ravens knock the fugg outta them, Their D is old , but that fear they put on players gets to them , nobody wants to be hit like Ray Lewis and the gang hits, they made each n every pat guy that had the ball pay, which is why they won the game and which is why Pats never scored again

YUP, puzzies on and off the field, what the f8ck is Moore always smiling for even when the team is losing by double digits, i know DHB s8cks, but give me 11 DHBS over 11 Moore, if 11 DHBs went against 11 MOore’s i bet DHB’s would win, because of the heart and toughness

Warmack for LG. bergstrom at RT.

Draft Damontre Moore, the guy was top 3 in sacks in SEC and led his team in tackles and tackles for loss, did all that with nagging ankle injury he suffered before midseason

Pretty sure it was Pollard. He’s a big hitter. We so need some muscle in the secondary – Branch is supposedly a hitter but he really isn’t never knocks anybody out or takes over a game – Mitchell hits people when they’re already down and then celebrates like he’s the man – its embarrassing. Huff never hits anybody, he drag tackles…

  • CanuckRaider

Ravens D figured out the Pats’ smoke and mirrors offense…Brady’s arm is done so they have no choice but to try to win by guile.

    Works for me.

The Offense should set the tempo of the game.

Best way to establish that is if you have an O Line that kicks ass.

  • ian85

Bowman def got away with that hold on 4th down fcking refs anyways like u guys said and it’s true niners r a physical team but they also lose to physical teams which is why i am so glad bmore won they will grind with sf and win

  • lefty12

1254-the problem is if we were to have someone like Pollard,he’d be flagged almost every time he made a play.League darlings like Balt,Pitt, and SF can get away with things,we can’t.

  • dr_robert

I really see Joekel, Warmack, or Milliner being the guy. I’d like a trade down to around 9. Pick milliner and a 2nd rounder. That would be ideal.

Bergstrom in at LG. resign Barnes or similar low-cost but vet RT.

Heck nix might figure in at LG and bergstrom at RT.

There’s alot to be said for making value plays of that nature.

If you liked the Whiners -6 before the game started why wouldn’t you love them at, in effect, +3 for the game at the half ?

Shoot, even if you liked ATL+6 at the start of the game why not hedge some of that action at the half by taking SF at, in effect, +3 for the game.

    Impossible to lose BOTH bets.

ANYTIME you get a chance to MIDDLE or SIDE a game, you should do so.

All you need to do is hit one out of twenty of those plays to overcome the vig and make $$.

  • DJ Johnny

    1284,

Lets hope maybe Geno Smith’s stock rises so much that some team just HAS to have him and are willing to trade up to us.

Then again if Geno’s stock rises that much maybe we wanna snag him ourselves.
