The Raiders have hired Tony Sparano to coach the offensive line and serve as assistant head coach, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Wednesday.

Sparano was recentely let go as the offensive coordinator of the New York Jets. His resume also includes being head coach of the Miami Dolphins and offensive line coach for the Dallas Cowboys.

big banana thats cuz DA is a fraud and is in waaay over his head

    —–

As of right now, I’m inclined to believe you.ets see what DA has to say about it next year.

  • ian85

this team desperately needs a identity i personally wanna go to more of a ground and pound offense and let that set up play action pass and stuff like that we gotta get back to power football i would love to get another big back to go with mcfadden and reese

  • The_Judge37

I’m curious to here from Sporano. I know it’s too soon for him to give an answer but i’d like to know if he plans on moving Wiz back to Guard or keeping him at Center.

Funny thing is some of us wee called out in here for criticizing the ST play. Now that the coach has been replaced, folks are more open to the fact that we had terrible coaching. Hindsight is 20/20 for the vast majority of the members in here.
    ===================================================

That means that some in here can’t even see it in hindsight. Which is true. And funny.
    Put you Raider.

  • mcfadden20.

Palmer to Pryor deep bombs would be legit, Pryor could become the best WR ever

  • mcfadden20.

Pryor is a new wave for Wide Receivers

  • dr_robert

Have u noticed a particular poster using lots of caps and “LMFAO”. Desperately trying to show how much he’s enjoying it all. Reeks of knowing that the Olson hire and everything else that has happened would lead a normal person to realize Pryor is in line for special packages and will be given the opportunity to show he could be a starter in time.

    Poor kid.

  • DKnight007

Good hire with Soprano as the OLine coach, since that is what he does best and he is hard nosed.

He also can the interim head coach if DA struggles and fails.

  • ian85

DutchRaider funny thing about that i absolutely would my best friend is a die hard niner fan and during pre season this year we were actually talking about dixon we thought the niners were gonna cut him due to the fact we didnt think they would carry 5 backs i was really hoping they would let him go and we would sign him i really liked him at MISS STATE but obviously they kept him so yes i would love to pair dixon with mcfadden and reese that would be sweet

  • dr_robert

Ok. So we know palmers our #1. The question is who will be our #2? A vet FA or a drafted rookie?

  • mcfadden20.

It’s funny all TP6 supporters are nowhere to be seen now, then they come out like flies at same time, then disappear at same time, MR IS SLeeping

  • DT42

Everyone keeps saying that Sparano was a O Line gruru, but I’m not impressed with the OLine in Miami when he was there or the dumptster fire that is the NY Jets Offensive line. Tony seems more like a babysitter for DA, who should have kept Wylie and Wiz 2.0 in the first place. Also, Bergstrom becomes a wasted pick (ZBS O Lineman) becuase DA wanted to be the Denver Texans.

Reggie now has to make all of the coaching hires and bring in a mentor for DA.Wow!

I would rather people adapt their beliefs, then sit here, STILL, 3 years later and stick to their “Jamarcus got screwed” routine.

Personally, our inability especially in the punt return game the last few years has been mind-numbing.

Since JLH returned a punt in 2009 for a TD, we have had 7 lost fumbles and zero TD’s in the punt return column. Hell, sometimes we can’t even fair catch a punt, and let a 43 yard punt roll into a 58 yarder.

  • papertiger418

Great news and no conspiracy stories!

DMAC in a contract year so we’ll get everything we can from him.

Trade back and pick up a 2nd.

Pad the lines with draft picks.

Go out there and sign Greg Jennings and pray he can stay healthy.

Have Howie Long or Romanowski “escort” RoMac from the premises.

  • r8eray

    20, whats up? I’m a TP6 supporter!!

    You called?

  • Relentless

We can all speculate on what is going to happen next year who’s gonna be traded or drafted and who is gonna start. Bottom line is all we can hope for is the best of our players and coaches and hopefully the year works out.

  • J Hill

Sporano as a OL coach is a real good hire, imo.

Former HCs are always a plus.

Brining Greg Williams in for LB coach.

  • papertiger418

    @Ian85

Yes, this team sorely needs an identity. Hopefully we can cultivate one by focusing on our line play. Drafting and building the lines will serve this team well in the future, regardless of who the HC is.

  • Al_is_theraiders

the denver texans…good one. Even better shrek just bypassed DA on many things, mark bypassed shrek and da forcing an open competition….”i have my own ideas on the quarteback…”

  • Just Fire Baby

I would love to can Carson, draft Geno and let him duke it out with TP6.

Don’t tell Priest or Mistic though, that doesn’t jive with the voices they hear in their head.

  • ian85

i got no problem with pryor being the number 2 qb to be totally honest i think we can def use him in a few packages that could give some defenses fits its all on how we use him i just dont think hes better than palmer or a starting qb in this league for that matter

    Interesting.

Has a connection with DA right?

DA is assembling the best Raider staff since Gruden’s days and Williams at LB coach would just add to that.

What does DA bring to the table?

J hill– then u are a double racist.

  • SaintKaufman

Man, just think about. Pryor, just under 6’5, 235lbs, runs a 4.35 40.

    Calvin Johnson, 6’5, 238lbs, runs a 4.35 40.

The kid said that he would prefer to get work at QB but is willing to do whatever it takes to help his team win.

Uh, how about get this stud on the field and let him run!

Pat White, 2nd round pick by Parcells.

My man. A rare breed in here it seems. They want you to pick a side and sign off on their propaganda.

Btw, in case you Pryor haters didn’t already know, I’m also a TP supporter.

  • shutdown

So in reality, it would seem Reggie/Allen are doing an interesting thing. They’re trying to get use out everyone they have. Hiring Olson would seem to be an attempt to gear the offense toward Palmer/DMc and hiring sparano (it pains me to say this) would at least hint that they intend on “finding the best way to use” Pryor, given sparanos history with both traditional and wildcat offenses.
    ___________________________________________

Sounds simpler than that: they’ve hired someone to work with the O-line, the ones we’ve got and the ones we’re about to get through the draft.

The lines, the lines, the lines. We have to establish an identity as a team that CAN push people around. We may not have the talent to do that from DE or DT yet, but we do have some guys on the O-line that should be getting more mileage out the meat they bring to it.

I really like the hire. Mark isn’t going on the cheap, it looks.
