Raiders fill final coaching vacancy

Raiders coach Dennis Allen rounded out his coaching staff by hiring Bob Sanders as his linebackers coach Friday.
Sanders spent the past four seasons with the Buffalo Bills, where he coached the defensive line one season and linebackers the final three.
Overall, Sanders has 33 years’ coaching experience in college and the NFL. He also coached for the Green Bay Packers and Miami Dolphins, including a three-year stint as the Packers defensive coordinator from 2006-08.
Allen fired four coaches the day after the regular season ended – offensive coordinator Greg Knapp, offensive line coach Frank Pollack, special teams coordinator Steve Hoffman and linebackers coach Johnny Holland.
Earlier this month, Allen hired Greg Olson to replace Knapp, Bobby April to take over for Hoffman and Tony Sparano as his new offensive line coach.

Cardinals or Minnesota might make a play for him.

    Or at least inquire.

And if someone does call to inquire, REGGIE YOU DON’T LET THEM OFF THE PHONE UNTIL YOU HAVE A DEAL!!!!!

  • elraidmanhattan

We are going defense all the way, with new offense scheme I think we can draft oline late but all early picks are d and please geno smith is pure smoke screen,

  • The_Judge37

Hue and Al would’ve been good together. Hue’s downfall was when no one was around to keeep him in check.

Another combo i think would’ve worked is:

    Reggie at GM
    Cable at HC
    Hue as OC
Marshall or Ryan in an Al free Defense

  • 1960AutumnWind

You put CP on the block the following teams would be interested

    1. Arizona
    2. KC but we would not do a division trade like this
    3. Buffalo Bills
    4. Jags

My guess is a 2nd to third rounder but we would have to assume some of the cap hit. It may also have to be a sign and trade. Except for Houston or Veldeer or maybe Wiz this guy actually may have the highest potential trade value on the entire team.

Everyone is frustrated by 4-12 and everyone wants to blame the QB but Raiders blaming Palmer would be like Carolina blaming Cam Newton for their record the year before. Other GM and Personal people know this and all they want to do is win. They would be calling. Who knows if Pryor can really progress maybe they will.

OUr best offer though for a trade down will most assuredly be for a QB.
Very few teams EVER trade up during the draft to take an O-lineman. Almost never happens.
    __________

Al tried to trade up for Orlando Pace….and we ended up with D. Russell….FML!

  • dr_robert

Uh. Hey laughing hyena. Schaub passed for over 4k yards, 22 Tds and over a 90 rating. And u think that’s something to laugh and joke about. U apparently don’t realize ur the joke.

  • Just Fire Baby

Hey D-Russ made a Pro Bowl at least.

He might be one of our better 1st round picks in the last 15 years!!!

  • elraidmanhattan

Autumn wind with all due respect who in their right mind would give up a high pick for palmer that is sorry to say insane. Everybody knows his cap figure is astronomical and it is not happening. Totally wishful thinking

  • 1960AutumnWind

No one is trading up for Geno Smith or any of the other QBs. The only player worthy of a trade up is Joekell at LT or perhaps one of the pash rushing DEs for teams that have a hole at those positions. Usual year you are right about QBs and trade ups but not this year.

    TP……yeah well Freudian slip, lol.

Although, I do like his leadership traits a la Gradkowski.

    ====

Seymour has great leadership traits. Shall we count the number of posts here that mention not being able to wait to unload him? DHB stepped in leadership this year. Everyone wants him gone. Palmer was acting like a leader from his 3rd day as a Raider, walking into a game totally unprepared and directing traffic at the line of scrimmage like he was the second coming of Peyton.

But a skill deficient backup QB shows a lot of enthusiasm and suddenly he’s not only a leader, but that’s become THE most important criteria for a QB. Way above things like being able to read, audible or trivial things like throw.

  • Just Fire Baby

I will be happy to debate Seymour’s “leadership” skills.

He just hood-winked Al with that mularkey. That dude is all jive.

  • dr_robert

I liked grad. But it was more desperation.

Jfb–Seymour isn’t a leader, he stole, and he’s full of jive? Is that a racist comment?

    Just kidding.

  • elraidmanhattan

Dr. Robert, I am going to be respectful and cordial here, If you you think Shaub is a top ten guy good for you, in my book he a loser and will never win a superbowl. This just in palmer threw for over 4000 yds too and is a loser take your pick. Hey plunkett and dilfer won the big ones palmer and schaub will

    ================

    LOL!!!

    is this a joke?

why would anyone “blame’ newton? the panthers were 2-14 before he arrived. he improved them to six wins, then improved again to 7 wins last season. He has also written his name all over the nfl record book and scored a massive 62 tds!!!

Blame is the wrong word. i think people do want to CREDIT newton for helping the team improve though.

plamer on the other hand, not so much. he definitely deserves blame as the raiders fell off the map last year with his pathetic 4-5 finish, and of course the 4-12 debacle this year was beyond putrid. He has also accounted for 37 turnovers, including 4 ints returnee for tds in that span.

In palmer case ‘blame’ is appropriate.

if we can trade him for some fritos and gift certificate to chucky cheese, do it yesterday. or lest cut him and save some cap space.

    he is finished

But cutting him, or trading him gets repeated 300 times a day here like there is some logic to it!

Its like being stuck in the rabbit hole of delusion.

    2015 maybe.

He MIGHT have his mechanics mastered by then… and this isn’t meant as a bad thing. Some of the best QB’s sat the bench for quite awhile. Steve Young and Aaron Rodgers? Heard of them?

  • dr_robert

When Palmer is clearly the starter from day one and Pryor sucks once again at passing, will missdick do the honorable thing and turn his machete on himself?

Or will he say the coaches disnt use Pryor correctly and they’re all racist and palmers 5k and 30 Tds are signs of his inadequacy?

I think we know the future.

    =============

    agreed

especially considering his 19 turnovers this past season and his wildly inaccurate Depp ball, which is supposed to be the strength of his game.

He looked shop worn and shot. mr potato head has a stronger arm than palmer

  • dr_robert

Elraid– he will if he wants to stay in the nfl. Cuz he SUCKS as a passer. He’ll certainly never pass for 4600 yards and 26 Tds (palmers prorated stats for 16 games). And he’s never win an nfl game so he’s no “winner”.

U guys are priceless. The season will be awesome watching u squirm.
