Raiders close `Mt. Davis’ _ capacity 53,200

The Raiders announced Wednesday they will reduce capacity at O.co Coliseum by nearly 10,000 to 53,200 in 2013 and relocate approximately 4,850 fans from the east side high-rise structure known as “Mt. Davis.’’

Raiders CEO Amy Trask described the decision as a “tool’’ to insure games remain on local television as well as promote more of a community atmosphere.

Fans who paid $260 per season ticket on the east side structure will be moved to the west side third deck and their tickets will cost $250 this season _ or $10 per game including preseason games.

Fans near the 50-yard line in the third deck who were paying $610 per ticket will have their ticket prices cut to $250.

The Raiders had just one television blackout in eight regular-season games in 2012 with help from the NFL’s `85 percent’’ rule, which allowed them to declare a sellout (and give the NFL a bigger cut of the ticket sales) if 85 percent of their non-suite tickets were sold by Thursday.

The average regular-season attendance for the Raiders in 2012 was 54,217.

Trask said closing of the east structure would be made in lieu of the 85 percent rule. The club is also planning to eliminate other “tools’’ to achieve sellouts such as 2-for-1 ticket giveaways sponsored by companies such as Compass Media and Hawaiian Airlines.

The A’s have tarped off sections of the third deck since 2006, reducing capacity for baseball to the 34,000 range. The Jacksonville Jaguars have reduced capacity by approximately 10,000 in the same manner.

According to Trask, NFL rules state that once a club closes off a section, it cannot be re-opened for any games regardless of ticket demand _ even in the case of the postseason.

Trask said the Raiders are continuing to focus their energy for a new stadium on the current site and have been in talks with the city and county, with the next round of discussions coming next week.

    you may not care about the black community, why should you stand in the way of those that do? If you dont want to join in the struggle it is your choice. is it nececeacry to be opposed to those that do want to be involved? You had an issue with black people in Afrikan, the other day now your issue has traveled to alabama? Our community needs positive examples because we are constantly being fed lil wayne types, and we see that it is having a negative affect.

    What “card” are you referring to? If jamarcsss story can help inspire another black youth to be accountable and improve himself isnt that a positive thing?

    “we dont have a community”.

    If you live in an area with mainly black neighbors it is called a neighborhood, or community.

    Because many of us dont own much, then perhaps it is something we can strive for. perhaps teaching our youth about community will mean the next generation will do better than we did and build a community. the concept must be taught before it can be actualized.

    There are plenty of black people that dont like sports, that does not mean i cant work with them to help heal black people and black youth. i think focusing on what makes us common is more productive than worrying about who is or isnt a sport fan.

    i agree many people have tried to capitalize on the plight of black people, but i dont discount all black people that say they want to improve the community because of it. You may buy an oragnic apple and discover a worm in it, does that then mean all organic apples should be avoided?

    Again even if russel is uninformed of the impact his actions have his example is still visible. Im certain that the youth in mobile alabama look up to him. So if he is unaware of any positive impact he will have with these actions really makes no difference.

    just like so many music artist are unaware of the negative impacts of their music, the impact is still there.

    we dont have to all think or act like the other in order to both be positive examples in our communities, or families

    for the record though the fact that black people in the states have been so called integrated we have seen a steady decline of independent black communities (black wall street oklohoma for example.

    The issue of being born in the 70′s & 80′s the idea that black people dont need their own was taught in most black homes, the result is the lack of community that you have mentioned.

    Fair enough. So without having to scroll up through all of Mistics non-football dribble, what difference does it make how much guaranteed money he has coming? If the Raiders are on the hook for 9 mill MINIMUM for their BEST PLAYER, they certainly aren’t walking away from him now. CP knows this. And he also knows how much all the top 16 QBs in the league get paid. So unless you are STILL stupid enough to think he is going to get cut, there isn’t much to talk about in regards to CP.

    Even if he restructures, the best case scenario is the Raiders simply get some extra cap space this year ONLY. The worst case scenario (for the people nutso enough to wish him gone) is he has a traditional restructure like he did last year. That means we are committed to him for 2-3 more years!

    B has a point, it is difficult to say it is “our” community when it is owned by others.

    Our denotes ownership

    O has a point, because we dont own the community doesnt mean we should shirk responsibility for the well being of those that live in it. This action would be considered taking ownership.

    what can be done to bridge the gap between the to out looks.

He’s damn smart to chronicle the change in his physique and game. It will serve him very well in the coming months.
    =============

    would he be at the test facility for sporst conditioning if he was not concerned about his own weight?

    Im glad he is taking responsibility for his own nutrion and conditioning. these are examples of things that must be taught, and not ideas that a person is born knowing

    Every black person can look to their own families and see examples of people that are ill informed on nutrition health exercise or proper diet

    Just because he was an athlete doesnt mean he is immune to the ills that affect the black community including a lack of knowledge of self
    ***********************

    Yeah Russell never has been informed on nutrition lol….excuses

    You have no community…stop with that schit! Yeah you lack knowledge of self….tell me where you are from…what tribe then Mr Africa….what sort of folk ways do your people have?

    Dont bother answering cuz you dont know

    This article actually breaks down the savings by doing each cut. Some real eye openers – for instance it would actually cost money against cap to cut Mclain right now. Palmer, Bey and Kelly are the cuts that actually can save money. Briseil and Tlleefson actually help a little as well.

    I saw a commercial for the movie django

    In the commercial it showed dicaprio (a person that classifies himself as white) watching a fight between to black men that was set up for his own entertainment and pleasure.

    This is why i will not engage in disagreements with black people here.

    There are too many people that pay the role of dicaprio that enjoy watching black men destroy one another
    **************************

    Namely you who loves watching black men knock each other out on a football field
    ===============

    The scene in django may not tell the whole story.

    In real life those fights were to the death. the loser if not killed would not be viewed as valuable and executed.

    Im not into watching black people kill each other

    Black people do not run the areas they live in…point blank and you cant dispute that….who owns the buildings? who runs the education system in their areas? Exactly….now go on and roast that tit monkey DA

    And Raider O….dont insult me and call me a fkin African American…that is a joke to even say to people
    $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

    1- not trying to insult you. I was being PC. Most of my AA/ black friends prefer black over AA.
    2- you can have a comunity and not “run things”. There is a huge Arab comunity in Det/ Mich (Damn You Mich), but they don’t run things.
    I’m still waiting for my AET (Arab Entertainment Television). lol
    =============

    B has a point, it is difficult to say it is “our” community when it is owned by others.

    Our denotes ownership

    O has a point, because we dont own the community doesnt mean we should shirk responsibility for the well being of those that live in it. This action would be considered taking ownership.

    what can be done to bridge the gap between the to out looks.

    educate our own youth and build into the education the goal of ownership
    *****************************

    No one black dictates a damn thing in the neighborhood…..why you think other races can set up a business right there and pay the black folks in the area zero mind? LOL….just spare us this ok Marcus Garvey…..let’s get back to football

    =================

    if you have a student that hasnt learned multiplication how can you teach him algebra?

    Russel was ill informed on nutrtion and exrcise as he was a star athlete without ever having to be informed all the way through college

    . When the information was presented to him he rejected it, thinking he didnt need it. That is a maturity issue and we can look at ourselves at 21-22 year sold and find that we also rejected information believing we knew best, only to dicover later how foolish that was.

    The tribe question is difficult because of 450 years of slavery that interupted our kinship lineage. How or why should that stop me from learing about our ancetral home land or black people world wide?

    Answers for your other question easy, and i dont expect anyone to do what I have done, nor would i condemn anyone for not folowing my example.

    1. I have my own name and so do my children. We do not carry slave names

    2. we dont eat a slave diet or a so called amerikkkan diet

    3. we reject and abstain from all euro centric holidays
    xmas- easter- valnetines- halloween and so on.

    4. i counter the racist mis education of the school system with our own education culuture and history. So instead of loving george washington, we love Nat Turner.

    These are small steps that we have taken but it qualifies for a start. My children will one day go further than i have and they will be able to unite with other like minded black people.

    i dont need to know which tribe i come from because no matter what geographic location black people are born in or have been exported to we all suffer the same plights.
