Will West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith be a viable option for the Raiders with the No. 3 pick in the upcoming NFL draft?

stars the best dt prospect since suh, know one can handle him one on one free’s up everyone else to make a play, and he plays nasty/dominates good competition. moore it turns out is slow. who else do you want geno? a short guard Warmack? Joeckel when we already have a LT?

    DT/NT = FA = best value!
you get experience, something that’s sorely needed in that position if you want to fix the front lines. that’s why i like Sopaga as a hole plugger. just ask Willis and Bowman as he frees them up, just the same as Justin Smith does for them on the edge.

Yes best value…Knighton,Branch or Hill…..damn Sopaga…i hate 49ers and on top of that he cant play 4-3 NT

Suh is a UT plain and simple

Moore is slow or ran a slow 40? Anyhow Brandon Spikes ran a slow 40….sure didnt hurt him as a player

Bet ya Moore runs a 4.7 at his pro day

    ————————-
I’ve never been high on Moore and have always seen Geno as somewhat of a worst case scenario for this draft. A dominant guard with great leverage Warmack? Yes please. Joeckel: I wouldn’t jump up and down for a RT but I wouldn’t be disappointed. I’d also be good with diving into the pool of pass rushers. Jordan could be a stud for instance. I don’t hate Star, I just don’t see him as anything more than just another guy at the top of a crapshoot top-weak draft.

    —————————-

I definitely agree with this. Especially considering that we do fairly well drafting solid d-linemen later in the draft. eg Lamar Houston & Shonasty. I think we can find two guys in this years draft we can throw into the rotation.

REMEMBER — we like how our DT prospect from last year (Bilukidi) is looking. He can fill some of the void there.

DRAFT PICKS — The more the merrier. Especially in a draft that’s VERY solid in the latter rounds. Look at how the Patriots have been able to sustain success over such a long period of time, and they are known to stockpile draft picks… The proof is in the pudding.

The difference between this Holmgren stuff and the Gruden rumor is the Gruden stuff came from that dweeb Hub Arkush and no one else..THIS coming from ESPN-Williamson and Clayton has more legs…and reality attached to it.

Reggie worked closely (I’d assume) w/ Holmgren in building GB from ‘92 onward so there’s that connection for sure…but what role? To take over Joey Clinkscales gig as Pres. of Player Personnel?

You don’t have to worry about the cap when it comes to hiring coaches and front office staff so I assume Mark could open the checkbook up for him.

Holmgren DID take GB to TWO (2) SB appearances and one of the better runs of winning in modern NFL history, and then went to Seattle and got them to the big game….and were robbed of the Lombardi imo.

    Stay tuned I guess.

It was. People talk about how “classy” Pittsburgh is over the years and I think they’ve been one of the dirtiest cheap shot teams in the league and far from “classy”.

You’ve got Roethlisberger the accused rapist as the “face” of the org, then cheap shot artist James Harrison, and let’s not forget one of the worst offenders of them all in Ryan Mundy..who has a history of head hunting.

Then you have Tomlin smirking on the sideline after the DHB hit.

They were lucky against AZ in the SB and against Seattle too.

“The Rooney’s are so wonderful”. Whatever.

    MIKE HOLMGREN —
Well Respected QB Coach = a plus for both Palmer and
    Pryor

Won 2 super bowls so he knows what a winning team should look like. In 17 seasons he only has had 3 losing seasons.

Worked with many other well respected guys around the league like JON GRUDEN (yes we all know this), Steve Mariucci, Jim Mora, Dick Juron, Andy Reid,

I think it can only benefit the team to add a guy like Holmgren.

Its also conceivable that Mark is putting together a SOLID staff so we can get the Raiders back to being a respectable Organization.

With a solid staff in place its a lot easier to target better players especially in Free Agency.

Reggie and DA did a fine job in the off season last year with NO cap space and NO picks… I’m sure they’ll do even better this year with more pieces to work with.

I dont understand why if the League respects these guys, you cant..? AT least while they are a part of our organization.

If Holmgren does indeed come on board….he is some QB guru….do you think he would like Palmer going forward

And how would the front office fight between Reggie and Mike be when the errand boy brings back that slab of ribs from Everett and Jones?

    LMAO.

    Everett and Jones?

    Oh yeah…good stuff!

stars the best dt prospect since suh, know one can handle him one on one free’s up everyone else to make a play, and he plays nasty/dominates good competition. moore it turns out is slow. who else do you want geno? a short guard Warmack? Joeckel when we already have a LT?
    ————————-
I’ve never been high on Moore and have always seen Geno as somewhat of a worst case scenario for this draft.

In a crap shoot draft, than guys like Jordan, Star and even Ansah should be looked at. Those are guys with solid upside.

Holmgren was an unmitigated DISASTER here in Cleveland. Aloof, patronizing, clearly in it for the paycheck, and far too removed from day to day operations. Local fanbase here hated him.
