Raiders bring back Khalif Barnes

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Wednesday, March 20th, 2013 at 9:28 am in Oakland Raiders.

Right tackle Khalif Barnes became the first of 17 unrestricted free agents to return to the Raiders, the club announced Wednesday.

Since free agency began, five players _ Philip Wheeler (Dolphins), Desmond Bryant (Browns), Brandon Myers (Giants), Mike Goodson (Jets) and Matt Shaughnessy (Cardinals) have signed with other teams, while the rest remain on the market.

An eight-year veteran, Barnes started nine games at right tackle last season after recovering from a torn groin muscle. He was a 16-game starter in 2011.

Barnes is versatile enough to have played in the gap and power scheme blocking the Raiders utilized in 2011 as well as the zone system last season.

    Rob,

front 7 isn’t fully addressed. we’ve added 2 DL, but are about to lose a total of 4.

PLUS, we dont have a pass rusher on this team.

Dion Jordan should be the pick at this point. i like star, but Dion is a beast QB killer

and Tupac will never be on KRS-One’s level

    Ever heard of Ras Kass?
    ——————————–
Soul On Ice is a cold piece of work. Nature Of The Threat is one of the coldest works ever recorded in HipHop or any other genre. If Ras Kass would have kept his carrer running in the lane of that album, he’d be much more successful. He f#cked up trying to appeal to the masses, and has not dropped an album even half as dope since then. But anytime someone name drops Ras Kass on a Raiders blog, has to be a good thing.
    ____________
ras kass is a waste of talent, so sick

never got any good producers to work on his schit

even soul on ice was produced by freakin COOLIO!

same can be said for lots of dope mc’s:
abstract rude, aceyalone, mikah 9, gift of gab…
    ——————————-
Ahhh, yes. Freestyle Fellowship had it. I saw Acey not too long ago and they still do some underground stuff, but theyre just older and not as into as before. It happens. They tried to bring the Project Blowed back in LA a couple years ago, but the younger kids werent into it and it wasnt the same.

Gift of Gab STILL goes in on the mic.

  • Kirk

“Cutler must figure he was already taking 15-20 good hits a game, might as well be on the edge running the option.”

    Bingo.

People always say you can’t run the option in the pros because the quarterback will get hit, but it’s ok to let him stand back there like a sitting duck while four 350 lb linemen try to squash him.

    oaktown player garbage?

gimme heiroglyphics, DU, and Quannum from the bay area.
    ——————————————-
3X is dope. Agermans flow pattern was like water back in the days until he got shermed out and went gospel.

Mob Figz, Jacka and Hus are two dope artists who constantly put out good independent material.

Bad-N-Fluence, Rappin Ron was a cold piece, especially with the punchlines. Another dope rapper, before he fell asleep behind the wheel.

Delinquents both could flow, V-white and Gstack both had patterns.

I agree that these groups have a little rougher subject matter, but they all drop a lot of game. I wouldnt put them in the same class of Bay garbage rappers. These guys coud at least flow.

Hiero on the other hand is on a level all by themselves. Del, Phesto, Opio, and Pep Love are f#ckin master MC’s.

Now that I think about it, the Bay in general doesnt get nearly as much credit as they should for the degree of skill that a lot of the MCs have

Quik behind the boards, on the cuts, and on the mix. He is a master. This isnt said enough, but Quiks name needs to be mentioned right behind Dre’s in terms of producers. Quik just never had that BIG Worldwide project blow up like Dre always had. Quik doesnt have a “Chronic”, “Doggystyle”, or “2001″, but that man productions are always next level, crispy, and smack hard as hell.

I still play the DJ Quik Trauama Instrumentals album, with no lyrics. He was zonin on the beats on that album.

I don’t see Reggie signing Abraham or Freeney. They are going to want a shot at the post season, not a one year rental and maybe their last team. It would be career suicide to come to Oakland.

    BINGO!

I’ll add, anyone can rap. Its just rhyming words. Rap is universal now. Its in TV, commercials, all over radio, in non hip-hop songs. Rhyming words with skill is powerful. The sound of drums and melody is powerful.

All rap music is not the same. And whats better, we have not even heard the best of what Hip-Hop music can offer yet. Thats still a progressing and expanding artform.

Its in a bit of an immature stage right now, but trust, it wont be like this forever.

People forget about the great North/ South Country Music wars of the 70′s.

Merle Haggard would crank out an album calling out George Jones…and Jones would fire back with a classic drinkin’ and divorcin’ tune.

It finally had to be settled when they agreed to a jousting match, but instead of horses they were both on riding lawnmowers.

It all started over a dispute over the honor of Tammy Wynette.
